argh.

I just managed to hit "delete all" instead of "delete selected" on my lj inbox, and have lost a ton of old messages and stuff I was keeping, plus a couple of new messages I hadn't answered yet. I'm so annoyed. I think for the most recent ones I still have the email alerts for them -- will get off my butt and go look for them and answer -- but argh anyway. ~__~

>___>

just so you guys know I can't post new entries or comment to other people's at all. Fuck you, russian hackers. fuck you in the NOSE.

anyway [personal profile] rayemars, i read your KH fic and your friend's and tried to comment THREE TIMES and the site ate them. i am very sad. (i am not sad that i had an excuse to read 'em three times each. muahahaha.) also congrats to the people who got jobs! and um what else. i forget.

... gonna try crossposting from dreamwidth now, since posting from lj keeps timing out. >__>;

BUT JUST IN CASE http://askerian.dreamwidth.org
if you feel like it (or lj is being an ass to you too) you can comment anon there or with an open ID! no prob. (if you comment on LJ i'll see them but I can't reply. ;__; aaaaaa.)

edit: omg crosspost worked! now let's see if remote editing works as well. *crosses fingers*
edit edit: oops forgot to close the (big) tags.
son of edit: okay why is this part still too big
bride of the son of edit: ... oh right, i, uh, put 'em in the wrong place. um. yeah. *cough*

I hope there won't be too many people emigrating from LJ. Because frankly they might suck often but this one's not their fault, and people leaving in droves is actually exactly what the hackers are after. IF YOU LEAVE LJ THE TERRORISTS WILL HAVE WON! >:E nanana you can't take lj from me~

I’ve been wondering what’s up with all the DDoS attacks LJ has been receiving lately. Signal boosting [info]ingridmatthews:

Just in case anyone thinks LJ's downtime is just TPTB being incompetant, read this:

LiveJournal, Russia's blogging platform of choice, is sustaining biggest cyberattack attack in its history. Bloggers say the Kremlin wants to crack down on political discussion.

"LiveJournal, Russia’s most popular blogging platform, has been under a massive DDoS attack for the past few days. The attack has effectively wiped out Russia’s main refuge for unbridled political discussion, a hugely lively and extensive domain frequented by politicians, opposition activists and social commentators alike...

“The reason for attack is more than clear in this case — someone wants LiveJournal to disappear as a platform,” Ilya Dronov, development director at SUP, wrote in a post on his LiveJournal blog earlier this week. He said the hackers were hoping to push bloggers from LJ to social networks where “it's easier to fight individual users.”"

In tonight's news, The Internet fails to take into account the personal tastes of a minority of one in "Top Ten" type popular sections. A localized epidemy of butthurt claims one victim; rest of the World Wide Web fails to care.

"What else was I supposed to do?! My backbutton was BROKEN!!!!" says Troll McWhine. "You don't understand the discrimination inherent in the fact that the opinion of a mere couple thousands of people weighs more than mine!!!!"

Meanwhile in Africa, starving students face a sudden shortage of uppercase letters and exclamation marks.

[livejournal.com profile] sarolynne's desktop computer is giving her the blue screen of death. Amongst other things of importance, all her stories and story notes are on it, and since the CD burner and the external harddrive are both dead, she hasn't been able to make a backup in a long while.

I dunno about you guys, but my first reaction to that was AUGH. As a writer, it's the equivalent of a guy wincing in deep horror and automatically crossing his legs as he hears about someone else getting nailed in the privates with a baseball bat. ~__~

She's getting a registry file failure that won't let her start Windows XP. She tried starting in safe mode but even then it still failed.

She says the error she's getting seems like it's normally associated with trying to install incompatable hardware, or trying to totally restart the system fresh, which she didn't do either.

If anyone has a suggestion, she'll be happy to hear it. She's got some access to the internet via her father's computer; I'll forward stuff to her. (or she can check this entry, i dunno XD; ) She's going to be offline for a few hours starting now, so I can't give more details, but she will once she comes back. I'm just asking now because, well, by then I'll be asleep. =__=;; Mmh, the joys of living in different time zones.

... okay, trustly F-list. I have a DILEMMA.

[livejournal.com profile] lyarrah was wondering, AND NOW OF COURSE IT TORTURES ME --

Who did Jiraiya train first, Yahiko or Yondaime?

[livejournal.com profile] askerian: well, yondaime was in his twenties when he DIED and that was like 16 years ago?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: and pain and konan look like they're no more than 30
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: ... well, nagato looks 20 going on 70
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: but
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: ... but in the other hand
[livejournal.com profile] lyarrah: Okay so him first. Which is totally what I thought but the internet keeps saying it's the other way around and I'm all "...wtf.... the Sannin were NOT 23-24 when they fought Hanzou..."
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: in the other hand back when he met yahiko and the others, jiraiya was still hanging out with his teammates.
[livejournal.com profile] lyarrah: *nods* But that seems more like a "they're the very best, we'll send them together" thing
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: *tears hair out*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian: *gently*

edit: so... a bazilion super-smart comments and arguments and strong hints, we... still have no idea? DX Lyarrah, hon... how 'bout you just use whatever works for your fic. I swear no one will know.

ahahaha NEVER AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN. I WILL NEVER LET MY PICTURES PILE UP SO HIGH.

I just spent the last... *counts* ... seven hours? making preview pics, copypasting stuff, editing webpages, and uploading them. In batches of ten, because otherwise the FTP connection breaks.

I think it's a law that every single time you think you're done, you realize you didn't actually link preview and image of a huge section, or totally forgot to actually crop and upload some smaller page.

But anyway.

Deviantart is loads more practical, but just in case you feel the strange need to eat some bandwidth and laugh at the ridiculously high number of pictures tagged NEW (no i really don't draw THAT fast), here is my personal site's gallery page thing.

never agaiiiiiiiin.

*thud.*

Gah, I'm too lazy to figure out how to mark the old and ugly stuff. Should have posted dates with my pics from the start. or at least the year. fjlasdkfNEVERMIND. Oh, and if you find dead links or broken images please tell me? I'll fix it. Hopefully. Unless I die of NNNOOOOOOO first.

In other news Teamwork hates me, but that's mutual. haha. I kid. nnnnnrgh.

So I was playing around with the window that pops up with ctrl+alt+del (wtf is it called) and I noticed this charming isass.exe program. Some research later and auuuugh fucking virus. Now I'm gonna have to try to start into safe more and try to fix it, but I'm not even sure how. Damn it.

If I don't reappear for a week it's because my computer died. Shit.

edit edit: ... gah I googled "how to remove" and stuff but I'm still stupidly nervous at the idea of actually doing it. Scared of fucking up my computer and losing my files. I've been uploading some of my currently-worked-on my fics just in case... *twitch twitch* just you watch as I forget one and that's the one I didn't save anywhere.

Long story short, someone "borrowed" characters, names, species and metaphysics from my old o-fic to write their own story in, "remade" two characters to make them more appealing (read : switched two names and lenghtened hair so the main hunk would have the "better" name and a sexier ponytail) without of course seeing fit to mention where the inspiration was coming from. I'm kinda miffed.
askerian: (Sasuke_my WTF face let me show you it)
Okay, trusty F-list. I need your help to puzzle out something. (caveat: People have a right to ship what they want, or hate or like any character they want even for DID YOU READ THE MANGA PROPERLY reasons) But.

Riddle me this:

1) Sasuke is an asshole, a dirty traitor, and an utter prick, who deserves to die alone, preferably in a fire,
2) Naruto deserves SOOOO much better and SasuNaru is an utterly horrible pairing because Sasuke hurts Naruto all the time, tried to KILL HIM, and doesn't give a shit at the best of times,
3) Itachi/Naruto OTP!!! nnnghsocute. X333333333

The war. The war. I don't agree with that shit but he's not my president and might have had good political reasons, from his corner. BUT YOU LEAVE THE FUCKING WOLVES ALONE. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, THE LAST TRUE COWBOY OR SOMETHING.

aaaaaahhhhh hate hate hate.

But yeah i'm not american so I can't do jack shit except repost the link and hope others can. godfuckingdamnit. ~__~

my brother's connection is shitty as hell, so he's trying to repair it. Meaning I might lose mine as a result. If you don't see me for a few centuries, that's why.

I'd type up the details of our grand internet provider adventures, but frankly, they don't make sense and haven't from the start. It's am epic tale of incompetence and misinformation.

I still hate wireless, btw. It should NOT be slow as hell and kick me every 30 minutes on average when i'm less than ten steps away from the source.
askerian: Serious Karkat in a red long-sleeved shirt (Default)
Having switched providers over a WHOLE day ago, I now feel fully qualified to claim that wireless = shit and Orange de France Telecom = more shit. Installing it all was a very tedious, repetitive and nonsensical level of hell, it still pulls random errors out of its ass and then fixes them just as much at random after hours of trying the exact same thing, it makes my taskbar freeze and my AIM error strangely, the connection cuts every hour on average and sometimes several times in a matter of minutes, and when it cuts I have to restart it manually. There's no auto-reconnect. Haaaet.

I am not a happy Asuka.

There's a much more stable cable option, but there's only one plug and my brothers got it. Assholes. >.> And now I have to install it on my father's computer. I'm going to have fun, I can see it from here.

edit: yeah uh so. I had fun. So much fun I decided not to end it too soon by actually getting internet on my father's computer! So I can try again tomorrow!! :D :D :D :D :D

So. Thanks to too many kind people on my F-list ( ♥ ), I'm paid up for at least a year or two, thus saving me, for now, from the dilemma of choosing between my precious icons and my opinion of the way LJ runs things, but...

If any of you have or have ever had automatic payments enabled, and then disabled them, you might want to check again. Hell, if you ever gave money for your LJ, check anyway.

Are you going to explain to your users how come autopayments that have been turned off (due to previous bad handling of certain issues on 6A/LJ's part) now are mysteriously turned back on?

Oh, and since comments are vanishing from this post, I'm taking a screen cap of this. I don't think you'll mind?

I'd like to know why automatic payments had been turned on for my account, when I had never previously enabled them.
