askerian: Serious Karkat in a red long-sleeved shirt (Neji_This Means WAR)

Long story short, someone "borrowed" characters, names, species and metaphysics from my old o-fic to write their own story in, "remade" two characters to make them more appealing (read : switched two names and lenghtened hair so the main hunk would have the "better" name and a sexier ponytail) without of course seeing fit to mention where the inspiration was coming from. I'm kinda miffed.

When I saw the first part of the post my thoughts were: ' Dammint! Google Translator isn't going to like alllllllll this. Oh wait that looks like English cliff notes version C:'

Is the fake writer going to take off the story or is he just ignoring you?

It's like 9 PM over here.

GO GET 'ER!!! Man, don't even tempt to go back into my piles and piles of mafia books.......or to start reading Reborn!

[identity profile] sara-the-lazy.livejournal.com 2008-04-25 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well hopefully she will make some sort of reply... plagiarism is a dickish practice, it's hard to tell what's worse, taking the exact concepts/characters from someone without changing them, or tweaking them just a bit to try not to get caught. Good luck with this, hopefully she won't get away with her attempt at stealing.

Kukukukukukukuku mafia Asuka.

Oh ew. Those people are just pathetic, they're gross and sad and so desperately lacking in the good-human-being department. You should report them and get them in trouble or at least have the story taken off, or be like, 'Yo, my story, paws off'.

I GO TEAR THEIR ENTRAILS OUT, HRMMRHMM?

...is it bad that I'm insanely happy that I understood some of the French?

[identity profile] katsquared.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
You're so nice about these things; everyone I know that's put stuff of theirs up on the internet and encountered plagiarism like this would immediately blow a casket and start ranting and raving about how someone's going to have something stuck up their ass.

YES YOUR STUFF. THAT YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO. A right that you need to shove in her face as soon as possible. But I mean, if she repents and is like, YES I DID STEAL YOUR WORLD I'M SORRY I DIDN'T HAVE THE IMAGINATIVE CAPACITY TO THINK OF IT ON MY OWN and makes it fanfiction, well, that's always a nice perker-upper? :]

Ooh ooh that would be fun. And it's one part of studying for the French SATs that I wouldn't mind doing <3

"Blow a gasket" is what I think you meant. Not that the image of an exploding coffin* didn't amuse the heck out of me. :D

*Or a small chest/jewel box, but the coffin was more amusing.

[identity profile] katsquared.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, yeah, that's right xD;

Yes I like blowing up coffins shushh o:

I actually managed to understand most of the first part (after like, 10 minutes with a dictionary)! ..then I noticed the English section. .-. asdfjkl; so not ready for AP french

Plagiarizers are horrible, horrible people. D:

[identity profile] traveling-storm.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
That would seriously tick me off too. What is with the rampant plagiarism going on lately? You are one more author in a long list of people I know talking about having their work stolen in some manner this past couple of weeks.

*hugs* Some people have no imagination and require the genius of others. Sad but true.

[identity profile] pridefall.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
I think I wouldn't have understood ANY of your French if it wasn't for the fact that half of the language sounds awfully close to the same in Spanish XD.

[identity profile] myrafur.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Goddamn, I have a kink for people yelling in other languages.

Get 'em, Asuka. \o/

...I hope her/his computer short-circuits while she/he is writing, and she has to spend the rest of her life with hair like Einstein! >.< Bastards. Why can't they come up with their own stories? People are going to catch them at it, for one. Especially with a well-known writer like you. What the hell? Also, I can't imagine one gets much satisfaction by getting good reviews for someone else's work. They didn't put any effort into it, so it's kind of empty...

[identity profile] nekostella.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] nekostella.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] genki-uhinagiku.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
>.< That sucks. XPPPPP People are so uncreative sometimes.... they have to go and steal someone's hard work just to gain some sort of popularity. >:/ That makes me upset. *sighs*

XD The French thing was interesting to look at. XD I haven't really seen any French, beside some Cajun French street sighes and road names, since I was reading my 8th grade textbook. ^.^

[identity profile] tekku-karii.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm unhappy about the plagiarism, but your post definitely helped me reinforce my decision to take the honors French course I signed up for today, XD. I actually understood most of your post! Yay!

Est-ce que vous voudrais me l'egorger? (I think I may have said, "Would you like me to slit their throat?", but I'm not entirely sure.)

[identity profile] w-inds-no-unmei.livejournal.com 2008-04-25 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
These people suck. I understand adopting someone's else's style of writing or thinking in their voice but stealing characters, worlds, or plots without giving credit is wrong. I even gave credit when I took the title of someone else's fic for my own.(Sucky it must have been since no one reviewed. Oh well. It was a school assignment.

I hope she decides to acknowledge you and your ideas real soon. She's lying to people everytime they review and she says nothing.
