So I was playing around with the window that pops up with ctrl+alt+del (wtf is it called) and I noticed this charming isass.exe program. Some research later and auuuugh fucking virus. Now I'm gonna have to try to start into safe more and try to fix it, but I'm not even sure how. Damn it.

If I don't reappear for a week it's because my computer died. Shit.

edit edit: ... gah I googled "how to remove" and stuff but I'm still stupidly nervous at the idea of actually doing it. Scared of fucking up my computer and losing my files. I've been uploading some of my currently-worked-on my fics just in case... *twitch twitch* just you watch as I forget one and that's the one I didn't save anywhere.

Yeah, it be a virus. Do you have AVG or MalwareBytes? Either of those should nuke it in the butt. *Lovely mental image*

It hides itself in Windows folders to make you think you need it... but it really is a recording bug.

I have AVG free edition but it's super slow and never seems to catch much. MalwareBytes you say? I'll check it out. I hope it's not a paying software because I can't buy things online. T__T

Um... is it Isass or lsass? Because the first is an actual system file while the second is a virus.

... I don't know. What's the difference? One is an uppercase i and the other one a lowercase L? I've got the lowercase L. DX right now I'm just updating and running all my antiviruses and whatnot and hoping someone competent pops online to help me. I'm kinda nervous about what to do once i'm in safe mode.

The lowercase l is a critical system security file. If you had the uppercase I I'd be worried.

I'd search word the virus online. There's usually some kindly person somewhere who sends instructions on how to nuke it.If you can, print those out, then disconnect from the interwebs and kill the little bastard.

That's what I did but the instructions are never complete enough for us poor computer challenged people, so i'm still twitchy at the idea of actually trying it. brrrr. XD;;;;;
