I jus spent the last four hours reading a harry/snape fic that was reasonably IC, interesting and well-written. The relationship takes ten chapters to develop. In the last two chapters, Ron discovers that Harry is gay and suddenly becomes a bastard, but that is halfway believavle, Draco becomes Harry's best friend and Harry is rejected by Gryffindor and adopted by Slytherin. It went a bit fast, but fine.
And then, just as Harry and Snape are about to make love, Snape sends harry naked to get the lube, and harry discovers that everyone is watching and laughing at him. It was all a joke, the slytherins never liked him, Snape spent the better part of a year getting closer to him just to make him fall from higher, and it ends on Harry leaving a "i'm sorry" note and disappearing, never being seen again.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
The author must have gotten tired as hell with the story, or wrote one of her hated pairings on a dare or something. Frankly I would have liked it better if it had been left unfinished than been given that kind of end. This. SUCKS. I just skimmed the last paragraphs because i'm really uncomfortable with betrayal situations, hoping that it was just a dream Harry was having, but it wasn't. And now I'm pissed as hell.
The end contradicts everything in the story, the characterisation of Snape and all the other characters. For no reason other than cheap angst do everyone (slytherins and gryffindors together) suddenly decide to turn on poor widdle harry who saved them all and make his life a living hell. FOR NO REASON.
GRARRRRRR. And she calls it tragedy. I call it bullshit. why the fuck did Snape bother to take Harry as his apprentice, to talk out his issues and his Dark Past and everything, just for the sake of a cheap joke?
