I jus spent the last four hours reading a harry/snape fic that was reasonably IC, interesting and well-written. The relationship takes ten chapters to develop. In the last two chapters, Ron discovers that Harry is gay and suddenly becomes a bastard, but that is halfway believavle, Draco becomes Harry's best friend and Harry is rejected by Gryffindor and adopted by Slytherin. It went a bit fast, but fine.

And then, just as Harry and Snape are about to make love, Snape sends harry naked to get the lube, and harry discovers that everyone is watching and laughing at him. It was all a joke, the slytherins never liked him, Snape spent the better part of a year getting closer to him just to make him fall from higher, and it ends on Harry leaving a "i'm sorry" note and disappearing, never being seen again.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

The author must have gotten tired as hell with the story, or wrote one of her hated pairings on a dare or something. Frankly I would have liked it better if it had been left unfinished than been given that kind of end. This. SUCKS. I just skimmed the last paragraphs because i'm really uncomfortable with betrayal situations, hoping that it was just a dream Harry was having, but it wasn't. And now I'm pissed as hell.

The end contradicts everything in the story, the characterisation of Snape and all the other characters. For no reason other than cheap angst do everyone (slytherins and gryffindors together) suddenly decide to turn on poor widdle harry who saved them all and make his life a living hell. FOR NO REASON.

GRARRRRRR. And she calls it tragedy. I call it bullshit. why the fuck did Snape bother to take Harry as his apprentice, to talk out his issues and his Dark Past and everything, just for the sake of a cheap joke?

Grarr. Just grarr.

I'm so sorry! *bows and grovels at Asuka's feet for sending her the link* I was horrified at the ending -- I knew it was that whole damn "prank" thing, but I deluded myself into thinking that somehow Snape had backed out after finding out that Harry's life was already CRAP, or the Slytherins would've been satisfied with outing Harry and turning him into their friend when he's such an ultimate Gryffindor Savior-of-the-World. THAT would've been so much more IC.

I can't get back to sleep b/c of this damn story, no matter how much I pretend that Harry overcomes it and becomes great and rubs their faces in it forever and ever, or that he gets revenge that lands the entire graduating class in St. Mungo's.

Evil fic.

hnn. *huggles* i'm not angry at you ;_; I'm just pissed off at the author for leading us on like that and then ending the fic that way. Probably just so the sequel could have the required setup of "betrayed-harry who has to get past it (and see everyone grovel to show how sorry they are of hurting such a marvelous person) to save the wizarding world once again". If it was needed to write her fic, there were much better ways to do it. That way was just lazy as hell and looked to me as if the author just wanted to be finished with the story as quickly as possible. It was cheap and didn't maintain internal coherence at all. Grarr.

What, there wasn't ENOUGH betrayal from the REST of the Houses? Can't have all of THEM doing the groveling, after they turned on him for being gay? HE knows his orientation isn't Snape's eeeeeevil Slytherin influence.

Well that just really sucks when an auther has a great story and then screws it all up with a bad endding. Why do so many people have to do that.

Excuse moi de m'incruster, mais si c'est bien Dark Chocolate ( en tous cas ça y ressemble..) Je te conseille de lire la suite White Chocolate, où la raison de la trahison est expliquée en long, en large, et en travers. C'est toujours aussi dure à digérer mais c'est justifié.

je m'en fiche si c'est justifié. Harry, se faire trahir comme ça et réagit avec un petit "désolé" avant de s'enfuir la queue entre les jambes? C'est ooc à donf. J'aime pas les Harry amputés des couilles. ~_~

Ack. I've read that fic!! I was annoyed for weeks afterwards. And then I finally forgot it...and now... I'm annoyed again. I think that she's (the author) is supposed to be writing a sequel. But...ugh. I was hoping that Snape wouldn't go through with the prank, too. AND HE DID!! *rants*

Anyway. Yes. I'll go be annoyed somewhere other than your livejournal now ^-^;;

Apparently these's a sequel explaining why, but really, after seeing the way the characterization made a 180 degree turn, i really don't care for how the author might rationalize the hurried, OOC ending.
