HP interview O.O
Sat, Oct. 20th, 2007 04:00Wow. I'm not in the HP fandom all that much anymore but this is still damn cool:
Dumbledore♥Grindelwald=canon.
Answering a question posed to her at tonight's book reading at Carnegie Hall in New York, Harry Potter author JK Rowling said she "always thought Dumbledore was gay" and that he originally fell in love with the wizard Grindelwald.
... that's all kinds of awesome. It's awesome because
1) OFFICIAL GAY CHARACTER,
2) OFFICIAL GOOD GUY GAY CHARACTER, not the evil, twisted mastermind who happens to be gay because that makes him more creepy
3) Not a pretty, effeminate boy, not a stereotyped queen or who-needs-women he-man, but an old dude who had a very fulfilling life, was a hero, a manipulator "for the greater good" and all in one a very human character -- obviously he was Harry's mentor and a Headmaster and a pillar of the Wizarding community a lot more than he was his sexuality, which makes the little detail that he was into dudes so much better,
4) ... he was in love with GRINDELWALD. The brillant, fascinating, passionate guy he was forced to stop when the guy went over to the dark side because he followed to the end a philosophy Albus himself had felt tempted by. That's... Wow. I suddenly ship Albus/Gellert a little bit.
... prr. *__* I want to see the full interview now. *pokes site* give it to meeeee.
