I cheated because I have about twice the number of files there, but half of them are long abandoned, and often also nothing but notes and no prose, anyway.

Some of the ones I listed here might be all notes and no prose, too, but they're still ideas I'd like to work on at some point.

A lot of those I added a _teamwork or a _fandom beforehand because they're actually in separate folders. *cheats* And I need to be organized even a little bit, cause otherwise I'd be really fucked. I can't remember what's in a file unless it's a big fic or the title is very descriptive and I'd spend my time opening them all looking for the one I want. XD

"I know." Mathow was sitting on the reef, the strong coil of his tail tucked against a rock. "I was the one who ordered them to."

Rylan stared at his brother. "... But the hospital needs those things."

"The hospital is a waste of time and resources."

"How can saving people's live be a waste?!"

Mathow didn't do Rylan the small mercy of averting his hard, unyielding eyes. "They're going to die anyway."

"How can you say that? We can find ways to save them--"

"The quakes are getting worse. The islands are erupting. There aren't enough ships to evacuate everyone. There's nowhere to evacuate them to, anyway. Foods stocks are low. Soon there will be plagues, if enough people survive. Not enough vaccines to treat everyone. Should I continue?"

Rylan swallowed. "... No. Statistically speaking... I guess you're right." He shook his head, gave his brother a pleading look. "But we can't just look at the statistics and decide not to even try! People aren't statistics!"

"One person dying is a tragedy," Mathow quoted quietly. "A thousand is a statistic." He shook his head, looked up at his brother. "There comes a point where we need to cut our losses."

Rylan stared at his brother, speechless and yet somehow unsurprised.

"Caring for every single individual who can't fend for himself is a beautiful ideal. But mostly, it's a luxury we can't afford."

Mathow closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he stared out at the ocean, releasing Rylan from their hold. His voice was quiet, unusually so.

"Do you understand, Rylan? Love is a luxury. We can't afford to let it stop us."

Rylan stopped breathing; and when Mathow spoke again, he already knew what he would hear.

"I won't let it stop me."

Rylan watched the shadow of his brother darting under the waves, and laughed a little, because it was that or choking. It was the closest his brother had ever come to saying out loud that he cared. It figured, that his first 'I love you' would be followed by 'but I'm still going to let you die'.

Itasasu amnesia

There are no mirrors in the house, and his eyesight is too poor to see much in the water bucket Dai brings him every morning from the well. Ichiro knows his hair is black, because a few haphazardly chopped locks float at the corner of his eye. His wrists are frail, his shoulders, compared to the futon for size, seem somewhat narrow. His body is covered in healing scars.

Dai tells him he doesn't know what happened to him. They both know he is lying. But every day Dai cooks for him, changes his bandages. And he watches him, grave and intense and subdued. So Ichiro doesn't ask. He figures it's not urgent enough to alienate Dai yet.

He's been feeling better, recently. He can sit up, and he's been walking around the hut, even though he knows he shouldn't. His lower body screams at him to stop with every step he takes; he just doesn't listen. There's a trick to it, a step back inside his own mind, and he's out of reach of the pain. It doesn't make his atrophied muscles stronger, though, so he never does go far. He's not sure where he would go anyway.

Dai knows every time, of course. He frowns when he comes in, even when nothing has been moved. Ichiro could volunteer information, but watching Dai try not to ask is the only kind of entertainment he gets.

You're going to break something, is the only thing Dai ever says about it, by which he means Ichiro would hurt himself. It's enough of an opening that Ichiro knows he won a point off him. It's pathetic that his biggest accomplishment of the day is another subtle dig as the man who cares for his wounds and works to feed him -- it's a game he's sure Dai barely knows they're playing.

If he knows, he's probably humoring him, which is a lot more humiliating than the bedpan stage ever was. Dai is likely aware of how bored Ichiro's getting, now that he doesn't sleep as much. But even if Ichiro wanted to lower himself to asking, Dai can't do much about it; he has a job, after all -- down the river, at the mill.

Ichiro doesn't think he's been working there a while. The way he moves, the way he talks : Dai comes across as more of a samurai down on his luck than a peasant.

1. Naruto and Sakura are just married. Woohoo honeymoon.
Sakura: *takes a look at the hotel's gardens and pool and super-luxurious everything* ... Ahhh such a waste of money, I can't believe it. Really I think it's more like Ino got us the present she wished she'd get...
Naruto: yeah but it's still nice of her. And there's no reason not to enjoy it. Look at that, is it for real XD
Sakura: *eyeroll* u_____u oh, Naruto, you so silly -- heee, show me that.
Naruto climbs on v. prettily carved stone balustrade and takes it all in. Wheeeeee!

Balcony upstairs, flirting with rich older lady (Terumii Mei = mizukage), Sasuke (with wineglass in hand? Haha) Sasuke sees them being uncaring about being out of place because they're having fun; he's kind of disdainful but entertained; gets distracted from chat which doesn't happen often, Mei notices.
Mei: ahh you never do play with children your own age
Sasuke: *too mature to huff!!!* I'm hardly a child. For that matter neither are they. honeymoon i believe
Mei: *laughs at him- like that means anything.* -go play sasuke
Sasuke: hmph. >.>

"Your parents died traitors," the other boy snarls.

He flinches, shakes his head. "You think that means it doesn't count?! They were still my parents! They still -- they loved me. They were doing what they thought was right," he says, more quietly.

Naruto laughs. There are tears in his eyes but his teeth are bared. "Yeah? My mother did what she thought was right too. You know? She saved the village! And then a bunch of psycho bastards grabbed her and cut her open, and no one did anything about it. No one cared. No one's doing anything! Oh, our jinchuuriki is already lost, it's pointless--"

"Come home," Sasuke says quietly -- quietly, because he already knows Naruto won't listen.

sakura: ... or they never grew out of the pigtails pulling stage. Prtty much the same thing. >__>

I posted the first chapter of this a couple centuries ago. Should come back to it at some point, huh. XD



He lifted his head to see his son's mate coming out. Chewing on a half-roasted animal leg, he arched an eyebrow, vaguely amused at the offended glare she threw his way. For such a puny thing she sure had a lot of attitude. Bardock lifted his roasted leg in a mocking salute and took another bite. Not half-bad, really.

He watched her advance on the kill with vague bemusement. He was almost standing on top of the carcass, a clear claim, yet she went right up to it and snatched its back leg to drag it off.

"I was eating that," he remarked mildly, not even growling, a foot on the neck of the beast to pin it down.

If she'd had a tail he was pretty sure it would have been stiff and puffed up all the way to the root. "What? I don't even -- the nerve!"

"Take food from your mate often?" he inquired, head tilted. What with how off Kakarott had been acting, he wouldn't even be surprised.

The alien bitch kept looking offended. "I don't need to take it, because I'm the one feeding it to him."

"Huh." He eyed the carcass. "Your kill?"

She reined in her anger, eyeing him with clear suspicion. "...No. Goku hunted it. But--"

Bardock snorted. Never mind then. "But he lost the fight." He took another bite. Hmm. Yes, he thought the taste could grow on him. Another couple of chomps and swallows, and he threw the cleaned bone over his head.

"What on Earth has that --" She interrupted herself, took in a deep breath. "Listen. He's injured. He needs food to recover. And he did hunt this, so --"

"So he lost the fight. Food's mine."

The alien's mouth opened and closed a couple of times. Bardock ignored her, falling into a crouch to tear a couple of beast ribs free. The bones snapped with a wet crack. Mmh, now that part was much less charred.

She stomped off as he licked his fingers clean. Red iron-based blood. It had been a while. So many species had orange or green, or transparent ichors, and that never tasted quite right. Made the meat taste off as well.

Reminded him a little of the korvaks back home. He almost regretted they never let one of those stupid collecting aliens land a toe on planet Vegeta and take a few for breeding purposes. Extinct, now. The korvaks and the collecting aliens both.

Kyuubi smothers a growl. God, not again.

"I mean, that's four syllables and only the last one's different. By the time you get there..."

"Yeah, you're right. Okay, girl names, uh..."

They start throwing out names, voices running into each other at the edges so that Kyuubi wouldn't even know who speaks if he wasn't looking at them. He tries to block it out, but then they start going into variations on Naruto -- Naturo, Toruna, and it's all so stupid...

"Kushina," he mutters without thinking, and then scowls at himself and gets up. He's not staying a second longer. They're contagious.

"Huh." The girl blinks and perks up. "That sounds pretty nice."

"Vetoed."

The two blonds stare at him like witless calves and he growls.

"But you were the one who brought it up!"

"Shut up. Vetoed."

"Tough luck." He smirked, all teeth and narrowed eyes. The man stiffened, and his scent spiked into fear/hate. Mmmh. Tasty.

'Ramen's tastier, 'n you lettin' it cool down. Crime.'

/I'm thinking up ways to traumatize your mommy and you think about ramen?/

'He's a school teacher, you gotta do worse than leer and say stuff to traumatize him. He's not stupid either -- you ain't gonna scare him out of his wits, and he only blows up at me 'nyway. Now you said you wanted ramen, if you don't want it I can take over and rescue it.'

/...fuck off, brat. Mine./ Snarling, Kyuubi curled around his bowl, growling out loud. He hated anyone even looking at his food, and bleeding or not, this was still his, still the first real food he was allowed to taste on his own. He didn't share, not even with his host.

'... And he's not my mommy... maybe my dad. Kinda. And pervert-sennin's my granddad.' Naruto's voice was soft, wistful.

Kyuubi slurped his noodles noisily, sneering. /I killed my sire when I was a four-tails. Gained a tail from devouring his heart./

'... Why do I still try to share anything with you?'

/You're stupid, just like Bitch says all the time./ Kyuubi glanced at Iruka, who was still watching him with narrowed eyes. He was too close to dodge should Kyuubi choose to swipe at his throat. Mighty confident that his prison would stop him in time -- okay, he was right, but... 'che. Too trusting anyway.

Sasuke was attempting to placate her again, more circumspect now. "Sakura... The truth is I like both--"

"You repressed homo liar."

"-- Okay, fine, the truth is that I like neither. There, happy?"

Naruto wriggled under the toppled-over couch until he could pop his head out of the side and look at the scene. Sakura was advancing on Sasuke slowly, wobbling with each step and yet still immensely threatening. Naruto seriously considered hiding in his couch fort and letting them forget him there.

It was actually kind of hilarious, in a deeply surreal, I'm-gonna-have-bruises-on-my-bruises-what-the-HELL way. He was gonna hold it over Sakura's head for months.

Sasuke noticed him, and jerked his chin at Sakura in a meaningful 'help me, you asshole' manner, but Naruto just grinned, mouthed back 'take one for the team, man!' and made himself comfortable to watch the show. The angle of Sasuke's mouth turned sourer.

"I'm not even sure Naruto has a dick anyway, so I don't see how I could like his."

"Oi!" Naruto protested without thinking. "Channeling Sai or something?"

Sasuke bristled, forgetting to keep track of Sakura to glare at him better. "Maybe he was right about one thing in his life! You're dickless."

Naruto started to squirm free of the couch. "I'm gonna give you my dick, assho--uhh."

That sounded... kind of wrong. Naruto paused, a knee still on the floor, and realized Sakura could see him now. Gack.

She only gave him a long, considering look, and snorted. "As if, Naruto, Sasuke would totally top." Then she blinked and looked at Sasuke like she'd had a sudden doubt and would like him to confirm. Sasuke looked insulted, but Naruto thought it was a perfectly normal doubt to have, damn it.

"...Yeah. I'd top," Sasuke said. "If we had sex. Which we don't."

Sakura, thankfully, totally ignored the denial part, instead of getting angry over it. But it was only because she was busy pointing meaningfully at Sasuke's dust-caked chest and looking all forlorn. "But why couldn't you have gone for someone prettier? I mean, Naruto isn't even a pretty boy."

Naruto's jaw hung open once again. "H-HEY!" So first he was having a top-secret homo affair with the bastard, and now he wasn't even good enough for him?!

"Okay he's built and kinda rugged and okay maybe a little cute... maybe a lot cute... and he's probably going to end up kind of manly at some point..."

Eee, Sakura-chan thought he was cute! -- um. Heh. Definitely holding this one over her head. Yeah.

"--But. Not pretty."

... Okay, yeah, he'd take being manly and rugged any time if the alternative was 'pretty.' Pffhahaha.

"Materia is the crystallized knowledge of the Ancients, right?"

"Far as we know."

Zack looked up at him gravely. "You do realize that means there was a noble and pure Ancient who wanted to be a dickgirl real bad."

Tifa stared at him, a hand on her mouth to keep shocked laughter in. Cloud just blinked slowly, displaying his complete lack of surprise.

"...Did you ever really listen to the words coming out of Aeris' mouth? At any point?"

Askerian snorted and eyed the humans more closely. The father and another young male -- his son, maybe ? -- were carrying shotguns. They weren't utterly defenseless, at least, and there were no orks in the area. But still, he didn't like seeing them traipse around the countryside on their own.

"Mommyyyy, I want to pet the unicorns!"

Reiyel's ear flicked back. /Oh great, they brought their brat./ Askerian snorted, shaking his head, and started down the slope slowly. Reiyel blinked at him. /Don't tell me you want to be fondled by its grabby little hands./

/... If I must. But I just want to ask them where their guide is./

/Let me guess, you're going to walk them back to their camp?/ Reiyel asked as he slowly started after him. /You're such a do-gooder./

/You should be glad I am, otherwise I'd have ditched you ages ago. Now stop saying stuff you don't want them to hear, you still broadcast everything and we're almost in range./

Askerian came to a stop a few meters away from the little group. The father and son were holding their rifles as if they weren't sure if they should aim or not.

/Hello./

The whole family gaped at him, and he refrained from sighing. Had they even bothered to read the complete list of sentient species around there? Great, just great.

"MOMMY!! THE UNICORN TALKED IN MY HEAD!!"

Uzumaki is rough with his teammates, bordering on violent, and Ikusa doesn't understand why neither of them resists. The girl should be punching the target for taking liberties, not spreading her legs. The traitor should be trying to kill them both for witnessing his shame, for seeing him bent over on his knees. They just keep looking drugged.

Ashige tilts his little head. "Weren't there legends about kitsune feeding on energies via sex?"

She starts swearing under her breath. "If that's what's happening here, by the time my support comes they'll both be dead. Damn it."

The traitor himself might not be a big loss, but the loss of his eyes will have people looking for someone to blame. The girl simply doesn't deserve it, it isn't like she chose her teammates, like the higher-ups were allowing people to warn her about what they are.

That'll teach those fluff-brained morons not to listen to her warnings. Hasn't she warned them enough already?

It's almost a half-hour later when two chuunin and a jounin land on the roof and slide into the observation room, and by then the Kyuubi boy has dragged his prey out of sight into some other room. She reports what she saw tersely, jaw clenched shut. She knows what's going to happen even before the jounin, Suzuki, opens his mouth.

"Well. He's not violent now. He might become so if we interrupt."

The younger of the chuunin, bless his innocent little heart, stiffens in offense. "So it's alright to let him keep raping them?"

The jounin scowls, using offense to hide unease. "We don't know that it's truly rape. They're teenagers. They're drunk. Those things happen."

The other chuunin -- a Branch Hyuuga in her thirties -- shapes a hand seal, squints through the walls, and then makes a disgusted grimace as she lets the jutsu go. "They're just having sex. And for god's sake don't make me look again."

Ikusa scowls. The Hyuuga barely looked thirty seconds, in the middle of the action; how can she determine whether it's consensual? Especially if drugs or Kitsune powers are involved.

"Either way, his behavior was clearly animalistic, and I didn't dream the fangs and the red eyes. If you'll review the reports you will notice the trend -- he's been increasingly agitated all week, and now with the alcohol who knows what could happen. He might--" she reminds herself to be diplomatic, keep going with the more widely accepted theory that the boy Naruto even exists as his own separate entity, "-- he might lose control and do something he might regret."

"Such as?" the jounin inquires, sarcastic.

Ikusa's upper lip curls. "Such as going for a lovebite and forgetting he has fangs. I might have forgotten to mention he has exhibited a marked tendency for throat and nape bites already." She didn't forget. She just doesn't think the man really understands what that behavior implies.

She stares at Suzuki. Suzuki stares back for a long moment, and then he lets out an explosive sigh and turns to his team to discuss it, neatly cutting her out of the discussion.

"We need permission from the Council."

"They're all asleep. They won't be happy to be woken up for nothing." The way Suzuki glances at Ikusa, what he thinks is clear -- he thinks she's paranoid, making mountains of molehills.

Ikusa has never known a mole to raze a whole village to the ground. She closes her eyes and prays for strength. Bureaucracy in inaction.

I love the idea too, sadly enough the file is about 90% notes. I suck. Anyway it's naruto's birthday and he gets "one sexual favor of his choice". XD

"How the hell do you make it look so easy?" Sasuke growled, and let go of the wall slowly. He took one awkward step, then another.

"Hah. What's wrong? Is it too hard for you, Sasuke-chan?" Naruto deflected a shoe flying at his head and laughed.

"Either you shut up, or I change back," Sasuke snarled. "I might change back regardless."

Wincing, Sakura glanced at the boys between her fingers, and threw Naruto a warning look. "Sasuke-kun, I think you're having such a hard time because you're a lot more attuned to your body than Naruto is to his. Give it a few minutes and it will pass, I promise."

"Attu-what?"

"You don't think about what you do or how you do it. You just do it."

"Oh, yeah. It helps, really. The body knows how to move; just let it go."

"Uh, so... how are we going to...? Do you want to lay down, and I'll -- or maybe you want to be on top?"

"Hell no, Sakura-chan, you know if you let him sit on you, he's gonna drop too fast to get it over with and then he'll be all 'nope, doesn't hurt at all, now get moving before I kill you. Ow'."

Sakura slapped a hand across her mouth to stifle not-very-manly giggles.

Sasuke scowled. "You make it sound like it's similar to getting stabbed, and I'm not so lame a ninja that I can't take getting cut without crying."

"God, Sasuke, it's supposed to be about feeling good. 'Sides for some girls it hurts more than for some others."

The ships file is, as the name hints at *gasp* a collection of pairings between characters who appear in the story (not every naruto character EVER D: ) and a little explanation of the dynamics. There's OC ships and stuff too. I'm just posting a few of them though. :p



Tenten/Hiroto (OC)
He's hella hot. u.u-b Mostly they're having fun. Hiroto is a civilian but he has no problem with having a girlfriend who kicks more ass than he does. He's a laid-back dude. He even sort of likes Neji and Lee, which is half the reason why Tenten is definitely keeping him. Also neither Neji nor Lee know what to make of him, and that cracks her up.

Ino=>Sakura
Subconscious; she only realizes the romantic component of their friendship once Temari opens her eyes to her attraction to women.

Jin (OC) =>Hinata
His ideal woman :333 Also, she knew he was a boy! Without asking! Without being told! (duh. Byakugan.)
she, um, doesn't know he exists. XD

Maneki (OC) => Zenko (OC)
Knows Zenko has no interest in romance or even sex, so he doesn't bother asking her for anything. She's baffled by his feelings but when he dies she still feels that she owes it to him to seek revenge.

Kudo shrugged a little, looked away. "The case has been cold for the last twelve years. Another afternoon won't hurt..."

Heiji stared at him. Sounded like Kudo was telling him they could go and do something fun together to socialize instead, and the nasty boring work could wait, but that couldn't be right -- working on cases was what Kudo did for fun.

"Ya really came to introduce th' new in-law, didn't cha."

Kudo coughed in his hand, eyes skipping away.

"So." Heiji put his elbows on the coffee table, loosened his shoulders and spine, quieted his voice. "Is it over? You and me?"

Resolved as he was to let that facet of their relationship slip away to preserve the friendship if necessary, he couldn't help but feel relieved when Kudo -- when Shinichi startled and stared at him. "No! Why would you think that?"

"Well... I'm more of your best friend with sex sprinkled on top. But he's -- he's more like your and neechan's common boyfriend, ain't he. So..."

Shinichi scowled at him, the mulish, vaguely sulky one that meant 'oh god you're being stupid again, whyyy'. "Both of you fall into the boyfriend category for me," he informed him, a little bit of a growl in his voice. "Different flavors of such, but yes, you're my goddamn boyfriend too. Got a problem with that?"

Heiji could feel his cheeks heating up by the second. He hung his head, embarrassed. He couldn't stop smiling.

"...You're an idiot sometimes, you know."

"Aw, Kudo, shaddap and come here so I can kiss you."

He was the one who went to Shinichi, though, shuffling on hands and knees around the low table. Shinichi watched him approach, an elbow on the table and his button-up shirt cracked open at the collar. Heiji knelt between his stretched-out legs and leaned in, eyes caught in that shadowed corner at his collarbone. "So he won't mind if I...?"

"Oh no," said Kuroba's low, quietly amused voice behind him. "I won't mind at all."

Heiji stopped moving, lips a few inches away from Shinichi's throat.

That tone of voice -- it was pure Kid, all mystery and cultured sensuality, a hint of catlike playfulness. But the timbre... even their voices sounded similar, and Heiji had long since developed a Pavlovian response to some of Shinichi's inflexions. This one held strange echoes of 'Let me explain exactly why you played right into my hands, Mr. Culprit,' just perhaps not as dark, or dark in a different way.

He couldn't turn around.

"My apologies for the disturbance," Kid was saying, tone light and airy once again, but it sounded far away to Heiji's ears. "Tantei-kun, Tantei-han..."

Shinichi was staring up past Heiji's head, eyes dark and intense, an eyebrow arched like a silent question. Heiji's fingers curled into fists on the mats.

"... Tantei-han?"

This time the voice was coming from his side and a little behind, close enough to touch. He saw a hand lift from behind him, unhurried, elegant.

Shinichi mimicked it, his own hand coming up like a mirror image, until their fingertips met.

Kuroba gave a low, knowing chuckle from behind him. Shinichi said "Ah, that's what it was," unsurprised.

Heiji groaned and dropped his forehead on Shinichi's shoulder. "Just shaddap, both of ya. Not my fault you're -- it's like buy one, get one free."

They both chuckled at that. They had different laughs.

"Package deal, huh?" Kuroba said, voice oddly thoughtful, oddly gentle. Shinichi's fingers slipped in between his to squeeze his hand. "... Very well." He squeezed back.

They let go of each other at the same time, with the same motion. It was strangely fascinating.

"You've practiced," Heiji accused, unable to look away.

He wasn't that tall -- Patrick was probably taller. The hispano man following him was definitely more buff. But she just didn't want him at her flank.

"Good afternoon, Miss...?"

"Lieutenant Serrano," she replied, which seemed to answer more than that single question for him from the way he started nodding.

"Lieutenant," he repeated, slowly, as if it was an unfamiliar word. "I see."

He was middle-aged -- that was all she could tell, middle-aged, she couldn't decide whether that meant thirty or forty-five. He wasn't especially tall -- but not small either. About her size, and she was tall for a woman. Not visibly muscled, though still in good health. His smile was mild, polite. His eyes an indeterminate brownish-green muddle. He had the kind of ordinary face you confuse with ten others in a crowd -- pleasant, but forgettable.

It was still hard to tear her attention away from him. She couldn't tell if he'd be less noticeable in a city crowd. Probably -- civilians were pretty blind at times.

"Did you serve with Mr. Andersen?"

"Lieutenant Andersen. Yes." She had to refrain from tacking on a 'sir'; he gave off that much of a 'General in civvies' vibe. "You are?"

"My name is Gordon. I believe he is expecting us. If we may...?" He tilted his head toward the path that led toward the house.

The way he asked, it sounded like he believed the question to be utterly perfunctory. Yet he didn't start moving either. She found it rather amusing that if they had let the truck roll forward at a slow walk that would have been enough to tear the hastily placed chain down; the chain was a bit short for its purpose and the two young trees that had been the only pair close enough to the road to be of use were already folding under the weight of the metal. The stopping power of the chain seemed more psychological than anything else.

"Lieutenant Andersen will be here in a minute," she said instead.

"And what the hell is he doing that's so important?" growled the Hispano.

Neve smiled faintly as a man with a riot of red curls briefly popped out of his hiding place to wave at her -- almost back to the main road, in a perfect place to cut their retreat off or take potshots at them as they left. The tree's leaves were turning early, red and gold so the color of his hair wouldn't attract attention. "Mmh? Nothing special."
