Okay, babysequels right now are mostly silly notes. XD (actually even pedobear is all notes, and since a lot of 'em are spoilerific I couldn't give you a lot of them.)

Does Aoyama have a thing for children following in the footsteps of their parents? Kaito following Toichi, Shinichi kinda like his father- maybe not an author but still in the mystery-solving category (and heck, he's got time; maybe he'll start writing when he gets older and can no longer be part of the chase?) Maybe Ei-chan can use this opportunity to BREAK FREE from the cycle of CHAINED OPPRESSION and be a...a...bank teller.

It's a very common trope in shonen. It's very rare to find a character who does something without also living up to their father's or father figure's legacy. Naruto wants to be Yondaime 2, Luffy wants to grow up to be Shanks... japanese people seem to have a slightly stronger belief in "dogs don't give birth to cats" and "it's in his blood to be like that" in general.

Not that I can say anything- I'm following in the career footsteps of awesome people I admire too. But mayhaps in general I'm more used to the attitude of choosing a job and career that interests you, that suits your abilities, interests and abilities rather than taking care of the family business.

Dude, for them, heists/chases are basically foreplay.

And the mental image of adult!Shinichi chasing 'Kid' is just ... gah.

(Alsoalsoalso, the first part makes me laugh SO HARD because there's a bird that lives nearby called a curlew that goes curlew and the babies are little fluffballs on sitck legs, and I just can't help pictureing the three as curlews.)
