You guys should not let me meme. I never finish all the prompts. I always end up with another brand new 'verse or three added to my load. I am bad with memes. baaaaaaad.

I'm blaming

hiza_chan somehow. I was reading her genderswitch meme and then I was like OMG WANT. But I don't feel imaginative enough to write genderswitch ANYTHING, needs some limits...

Then I started wondering what would be different in teamwork if Sasuke was born a girl.

Give me one of my fics (anything I've posted in english, be it Teamwork, Restore, the Swingersverse, ofic... or one of those drabbles I wrote months ago *), give me a character to genderswitch (two max), give me a writing prompt (a word? a moment in time? a sentence? an action? note, I don't do well with poetic prompts. Hell, the prompt is optional. I might whine if inspiration doesn't come, though.)

Basically I'll write a ficlet inside a genderbent!AU of my stories. (I'd prefer a born the other gender AU than a temporary genderbending, actually .__.) I don't have the brains to manage brand-new verses or fun and different explanations for genderflipping right now.

Hopefully I'll manage to write you something. I'll do my best. I just. ngh. genderbending. I can't stop myself. I'm a memeholic.

FF7 Steal: Kegarr, because I think their first conversation outside the bar might have gone rather differently, and her reaction to seeing Gabe the first time may also have been influenced. Prompt... "Raped in her sleep by the General?" Or Motherly Instincts, whichever sparks you.

"Motherly instincts" makes me lol because as a background OC one of Kegarr's main points of personality is his being so utterly childfree. XD

"Okay. So. Imagine you're a guy."

The look she throws him is full of the disdain of a woman who has sweated blood for years to gain entry in one of the most elite fighters' clubs in the world. He winces. Between the guys who can only see her as 'just one of the guys' anymore and the people who call her a bulldyke, his question must seem right at home.

"I'm saying that because I need advice for me! And you're a woman so you wouldn't, er, I mean, I doubt it would happen. Not the same way."

She gives a long sigh and takes a drag, lets the smoke escape through her set teeth. "Ah, imagining I suddenly have a dick would help me figure out your brain. You know, in most guys the little head downstairs isn't supposed to be the main one."

"Imagine you got someone pregnant," he barks out, reddening already.

Silence.

"Like, it happened a couple years ago and now they come around and hey there, surprise, you're a daddy. Can you imagine you're that?"

"God," she groans. But she stubs her cigarette and she turns to him. When she speaks next she's serious and a little wry. "Thank god and Shinra for the pill, but seriously this is making me want to get my tubes tied. Okay, way too late for abortion... What does she want? Booze? Money? A matching sibling? Bit off more than she could chew, and now she needs a free babysitter?"

"She's dying," Zack says abruptly. "Her dad's a pedophile and he's the only family she has left."

Silence.

"She can't let him have the kid," he says, more quietly, voice breaking.

"No, of course not," Kegarr answers, and briefly her voice goes quiet and sad. "But daddy has a career he can't leave, huh. Or you'd be long gone already."

And it hurts, that she might assume that of him -- but she's right too, he loves his job, he likes his life as it is now and leaving might not be a choice at all but it still hurts.

"Your parents are still alive, yeah? Maybe you oughta give them a call. They can't get you back but maybe they'd be good with getting their grandchild instead."

"No," he protests, "no, I'm asking you -- if it was you."

"Boy," she says. "I'm not you."

She lights up another cigarette. She's sorry for him, but her answer doesn't shift at all.

"I wouldn't even consider leaving at all, if I were."

Thank you so much for not changing Kegarr's opinion on kids. I hate it when everyone assumes that you want kids just because you're a woman (personally, I do want kids, but that's because I want kids, not because I have ovaries).

I like how the conversation changed a bit though, the different way Zack approached the problem. It's a very good analogy.

I don't feel a need to have kids at all, the most I can deal with is nephews or maybe helping raise my partner's kids if they have any (not that I'm with anyone at all at the moment so it's a moot point. XD) It's always a little hrrrrn when woman = maternal instinct. Mine is so stunted it might as well not be here and when I talked about it with classmates they were always utterly baffled, like maybe I just hadn't noticed the cries of my empty womb yet. :/

Yeah, I'm the exact opposite, I've always wanted kids, but it really bugs me when people respond with, "Well, of course you do, your a woman, you're supposed to." Which, yes I get from an evolutionary perspective why this is makes sense (women not having the option of fucking off like the men did back eons ago), but that's (at best) a general trend and doesn't apply to a specific woman.

I want kids (eventually). I want them because I like kids and want to try my hand at raising my own because I personally think this would make me happy. Not because of some ancient biological drive forces me to want them.

I'm with Asuka on the no-kids-for-me thing, and it drives me nuts that I can spend ten minutes laying out a long list of reasons why I am not going to have kids -- finances, mental health, physical health, family history of mental and physical issues that have only worsened with each generation, personal inclination -- and the response is invariably "you'll change your mind when you're older (you silly girl, you couldn't possibly have thought this out and made the responsible decision)". Meanwhile, my male cousin, who is ten years older (and physically and mentally healthy, with a good job, etc.), needs only to say "I don't want any" and the subject is dropped.

Hitting my thirties, especially after I passed the halfway point on the way to forty, seems to have killed off the urge for people to tell me I will change my mind. Most are smart enough not to even suggest it now, but those that aren't are reminded of the increased risks to me and the child of having a first birth after thirty five, if they know me and my age. If they don't know me, and are commenting on my lack of children (how rude!) I'm more likely to pat my hair and say "Goodness, does the dye take off that many years?" and walk away.
