Therefore!

Pick one of my stories and I will tell you the first lines of its prequel OR sequel (choose one!). Even if I was never actually planning to write a prequel/sequel. Even if it already has a prequel/sequel -- I'll give you the first line of another version of its prequel/sequel!

~~And this time I'll really try to keep it short, not like the last time I tried those. >__>~~ HAHAHA I jest.

For reference purposes, here's the list of my longfic masterlists and the ficlets who already do have sequels/prequels of their own. If there's a ficlet that's not on there you can request something for it anyway! You don't even have to link me first, I'll find it (if I truly was the one who wrote it, cause i've gotten confused about that stuff before. XD) Or there's my ffnet page. Any fandoms, go go go.

Also crossed wires is disqualified for sequels. Prequels, maybe. And Locker Room Therapy is nothing but sequels, so disqualified from both.

What's newtype-ish and what's not... XD She doesn't have the genes, no, but I think good old human instinct and being so attuned to Heero means she can feel it subconsciously when he pings her. She's more open than most normal people that way.

Heero by the way should not be able to locate her, because it's not either one of his abilities. Instead it's some weird mix of both, where he's taken one of the stickers that should indicate north-south and up-down (which is why he wakes up that one time in a hospital and is able to tell exactly where he is) and put it on a living being. Relena thataway! So he sort of always knows her general direction. It's even more subconscious than Relena's awareness of it, which cracks me up because I've got a weird sense of humor that way.

Quatre should have expected something to happen; not everyone could deal with 'our brothers from behind the stars', after all, between those who didn't believe their 'we are not Cetra, we are like you, left behind by the Cetra, really!' and those who don't want more players to the already complex local political game. Quatre did expect something to happen.

This does not make the (heavy, armored) car any less flipped around on it's side and listing dangerously toward the edge of this bridge. (He can see slums in the gloom, far underneath.)

He throws Trowa a glance -- Trowa's braced over Quatre with arms and legs, close to the one window the car isn't laying on, and he could wriggle out, probably -- but Trowa doesn't move even to wipe the blood off his own forehead, eyes intense and watchful, listening to faint metallic screeches that sound a little too much like rivets slowly being sheared off.

Trowa moving to get out might tip the car into the void (onto those shacks far underneath), but it's going to happen regardless. Quatre's leg is probably broken. He's tangled in the seatbelt. He's not going anywhere anyway. He stares at Trowa, harder, don't be stupid damn it.

Another bolt shears off. Metallic supports break clean with little pings. The car starts to list onto its back. "Trowa!"

And then something heavy lands on Trowa's door, and then car rocks back, a little, and then it -- and then --

and then metal screeches on concrete as something drags it back onto solid ground, one-two-three-yank, one-two-three-yank, and all the adrenaline trickles out of Quatre.

Unless this is one of the monsters they heard about. Um. That would probably be bad.

The face that peers through Trowa's window might have intensely golden eyes, shining even through the dark glass, but it is so achingly familiar there is no question.

"Right. Brace yourselves, I'm putting the car right side up."

They do, and he does, and Quatre swallows a groan when his leg is jolted, but he doesn't even mind. He's already laughing as Trowa opens his door and comes out, and when Wufei opens his own door and leans in he grins.

"Fancy meeting you here, Mr. Chang."

The man leaning in has midback-length hair and is wearing a strange sleeveless turtleneck and heavy belt that don't seem his style at all, and his eyes glow in the shade like lamps, but he rakes Quatre with the exact same old assessing glance and then smirks the exact same old smirk.

"It's First Class Chang to you, Winner." And then, more quietly, even as he fishes a hunting knife from his boot and hacks through the seatbelt -- more real, "It's nice to see you."

To the horror of all and the surprise of none, eventually Toph and Iroh got so used to their little charade that they figured, why not do it for real while we're at it, and then Zuko's children ended up with Earthbending cousins.

There was no way the staunchest of the old politicians could say the Queen of Omashu was a misalliance for the Fire Lord' uncle. Zuko ended up with a headache of monstruous proportions anyway, but that was his default state, so hey.

Iroh never did get the snapdragon field as a dowry, but Toph had given him leave to use the palace's roofs as his own gardens so he managed to deal with the disappointment somehow.

*giggles* This is great! I'm glad Iroh got gardens if he couldn't have snapdragons. :D

Time has softened some of Dorothy's bite... or, actually, made some things unacceptable targets, though the rest is still fair game. Relena's straight-laced behavior and, apparently, peculiar innocence, are in the second camp.

"Honestly, a little scandal wouldn't hurt. People might like you even more, somehow. You're staid like the youngest old maid ever. Couldn't you take up smoking?"

Relena gives her friend a demure look (mostly to tease her) and is about to answer when Heero walks in through the open door. Duo is on his heels. Duo's Sank Royal Guard uniform jacket is thrown over his shoulder casually; Heero wears his open; they both wear white button-up shirts underneath and knee-high riding boots over the tight uniform pants. Dorothy is busy taking them in with her eyebrows arched up, so Relena allows herself a faint, appreciative smile.

"Hello, Duo, Heero. I trust you do remember my friend Dorothy?"

Heero nods blandly as he makes his way across the carpet.

Duo gives Dorothy a sardonic little grin. Dorothy mirrors it. Relena has the faint thought that they're going to either get along like a house on fire or leave her capital city a smoking crater. ... They might leave it in ruins regardless, come to think of it.

"So how was the fitting?" Relena asks Heero as he reaches her armchair and props his hand on the back of it. Heero shrugs.

"We survived," he says, which does not sound promising, and then he leans in and brushes a soft hello kiss on her lips. Relena's smile turns sweeter, she can't help it, which probably ought to make her feel as if she should take more lessons in schooling her expression. Especially before Dorothy, who is watching them with avid eyes and a delighted, mildly evil smirk.

"Oho. Are congratulations in order, then?" she purrs, and eyes Relena like she thinks this solves their previous conversation nicely.

Duo steps up to the order side of Relena's chair and nudges her chin so she turns to him, and he kisses her too. "Hi babe," he whispers, smiling against her lips, and nips her playfully. He straightens up. "And sure, congrats are always in order."

Relena lifts her coffee cup and takes the most demure sip she possibly can.

It doesn't take Dorothy long to bounce back, but then again it never does; that she allows Relena to see her sheer bewilderment for as long as she does is, she knows, a mark of trust.

"So this is why you've been pushing for legalized polyamorous marriage," she says eventually, soft and veiled -- thinking Dorothy, plotting Dorothy, not teasing and playful anymore. She knows the seriousness of it. "You want my help on a media spin."

"... I do want your considerable expertise with the press, yes, but not for me," Relena replies softly. "As per Sank laws, the reigning monarch is allowed several spouses regardless. But it would not be fair to get married when my subjects could not."

Dorothy stares at her for a long, long time before she shifts her attention onto Heero and Duo, still standing guard at her shoulders, patient and steady. Relena doesn't need to look to know the quiet determination on Heero's face, the faint, I dare you smile on Duo's.

Their noblemen's Sank uniforms, telling the world, those are my people, my supports, mine.

"It'll be an uphill battle," Dorothy says, and takes a sip of her own coffee, one hand holding the saucer underneath, picture-perfect. "It'll likely take years."

"We know. We have faith in you."

"... I better get to be your bridesmaid for this," Dorothy drawls, and then she smiles. "But if you put me in pink I will have to hurt you."

sorry, i'm all glee that you asked about the mermaids but the AU meme isn't the one i'm playing with atm, I was just mentioning it for later. XD; I'm just doing the sequel meme in this post. Something else?

Eeeeeeeeeee!!! Ha, Relena gets one over on Dorothy, if only for a couple seconds... and Dorothy trusts her enough to let her see that she's knocked for a loop. Yay friendship! Also, oh god, the idea of Duo and Dorothy either working together or working against each other is fascinating in an inevitable train-wreck-and-explosions sort of way. Plus yay for Relena not wanting to use her exemption from anti-polyamory laws when her subjects can't; that is so very, very her. *floats off, trailing happy sparkles*

Aw, look, they really do love each other. :-p Seriously, I love the warmth and care they all obviously feel, and that it's not just about sex -- they're all... mmm... nakama, I guess. *hugs them all*

Aaah! No fair leaving it on that cliffhanger! *shakes tiny fist of rage*

Oh, the hints of plot and world-building! *covets* And yay, reunion! (...In a good GW way, not a bad FF7 way, of course. Eeep.)

I was thinking of making minato the original/normal person they were cloned from, but that was boringly predictable, so instead i'm going with "oldest of the clones still alive/prototype clone".
Kyuubi and he have a hate/respect relationship à la "i'm the only one allowed to end you!!! D:". XD (also the Dark clone. Pfffff. XDDD I wonder if there are female clones as wlel or if upon being freed one of the clones went for a sex change in his quest to become as different as possible.)

♥ Relena I think has gotten used to Heero appearing in dark corners he was not in a second ago. She doesn't even startle anymore. XD And they are, aren't they? So n'awww. Now I feel a little bad for breaking them up. XDDDDD

Bah, le premier fic commencait avec l'image de Relena en princesse avec ses deux chevaliers, ca s'imposait quand même le truc du trône. XD
