AUUUUGH. writing meme?

I... want to write. But not Naruto things. Maybe FF7 things, but not one of the two multiparts I already have. Maybe Katekyo Hitman Reborn things, maybe Dragonball Z, maybe Ofic things, maybe maybe maybe. I don't know. I can't make up my mind.

I've got this list of 100 prompts, conveniently numbered from 1 to 100.

Give me a number, give me two or three characters, and let's see what happens. It's alright if two of you accidentally land on the same number. I make no promises about actually managing to write anything, because I suck like that, but even if out of 30 prompts I only manage to write three I'll consider it a success.

Eligible fandoms:
my o-fics (mermaids in space, cercle, brea&james, the Tyr nano story), FF7, Dragonball Z (huh, I need to come up with saiyajin OCs for that fandom, now that I'm thinking about it), Gundam Wing, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Avatar the Last Airbender, Seirei no Moribito, Bleach no more bleach, Yuyu Hakusho. Maaaaybe the teamwork OCs or any other fanfic OCs of mine if someone's interested, but then again I don't know.

Breanna wandered off so often they didn't even panic about it anymore, they just sighed and said "your turn".

Joanne found her that day, bright red plastic rake lifted high in threat, and the usual "no, put that down" was out of her lips before she understood the bright red spread of blood on the girl's sleeve.

Then she took a step closer and saw the wolf, bigger than three of little Breanna, flattened in the dust and looking utterly panicked.

Two days later a very sorry man and his lawyer were coming by to ask how one might go about adopting a five-year-old werewolf.

30. Under the Rain

"You think you can whine, princess? Even my underthings are damp."

Zuko winced. "I really don't think I need to hear about your -- your. You know."

"My upcoming crotch-rot?"

"TOPH."

She laughs at him, and bounces out of the shelter, face turned to the sky. The mud ripples all around her, rising in liquid jets under her feet. "Prude-bender."

"Yeah, well, you're a waterbender," he mutters under his breath.

Toph snorts. "No, no, you're doing it all wrong. You want a comeback? THIS is a comeback." Two seconds later his stone shelter is gone and a huge wave of mud rushes to swallow him.

This means war.

27. Foreign -- Re: Breanna & James, BFFs

He didn't want to leave the house.

He disliked the garden at the back of the house -- less of a garden, more of a field left fallow, tall grass and brambles and wildflowers, and traitorous bumps and hollows. But he likes it even less when it was invaded by dozens and dozens of strangers. They mingled, here and there, some keeping to their little groups and some doing their best to have a word with every single person -- some running, playing tag like children.

Sometimes it even looked like an ordinary family reunion. (just nothing like his own family.)

Watching from above, he could see the patterns, though. Everyone going up to Breanna and leaning down and brushing kisses against her lips. Men, women, old and young. So casual.
The crowds opening for this or that person, who didn't seem to behave in any special way he could pinpoint. The verbal disputes no one interfered with, the shoving around everyone watched curiously instead of stopping. No real fight so far but he knew no one would stop those either. Just watch.

Breanna had tried to drag him out earlier, taunted him with childish "scared? They won't eat you." He'd just snorted, turned away. It was nothing to do with fear. He just didn't fit in there.

He didn't want to.

77. Test

J'ai essayé de m'y remettre, mais en fait je sais pourquoi je suis bloquée -- je n'ai que la plus vague idée des événements qui les ont tous conduits là où ils sont, et je n'ai pas assez développé leur univers. Faut que je fasse ça avant le reste. Mrgblrhg.

"Oh, this is going to be a beautiful day."

Duo was grinning, hands on his hips and smiling like a shark as he surveyed the gathering. Wufei snorted quietly.

"You're not going to manage to scare the recruits so easily," he muttered to him as he passed by.

Duo fell into step with him. "I know, too bad for them."

Heero nodded slowly, as if that made sense. "Checking who's smart enough to be scared anyway?"

"Yup."

"The weight of your ego is a frightening thing, Maxwell." Wufei came to a stop before the group.

"Good thing I've got balls to match, it balances out." A few spectators laughed. They stopped laughing when Duo grinned back at them and saluted them with a remarkably realistic paintball gun, before turning on his heels and jogging off.

Wufei rolled his eyes, again. "In case you think outdoors means a picnic, a reminder: today's your final exam. Gear up." Heero started passing out maps; Wufei continued. "Your first exam mission is to cross the forest. You will be graded on how many times you've died."

99 and feelin' fine! And, I dunno if your inspiration on it is still working, but I'd like to read about Sakura and the OC boy from her first time. Or any of those characters, her mother's family and the girls she hung out with while there were pretty cool too.

99. Solitude

"Are you moping again, Hiroshi?"

"No, I'm not," the boy lied, badly.

Yumeko sighed at him, fists on her hips, and joined him on the old bench. At the other end of the clearing, in the light of the bonfires, people kept partying, but it was quiet so close to the river.

"Alright, don't make me torture it out of you. I'd love to talk all night with you, but Ken will be looking for me pretty soon. So... Is it about Rika?"

Hiroshi shrugged. "No... Yeah. Kind of." Quietly; "I liked her but... I don't miss her. It was the same with Nanako. They were nice, they were cute, but..." Even more quietly, so the water gurgled over his words, almost covering them. "I think I'm still in love with your cousin."

Yumeko watched him for a few seconds, sitting with his head bowed, hands clenched together.

Then she bopped him on the back of the head.

"No you're not, stupid. You know what you've got? You've got a case of 'my perfect little suburbian life is the most boring thing and girls who fit in there only make it worse,' and since she's a hot ninja chick and she's never going to come back and make you deal with the real her, she's perfect to pine for."

Hiroshi spluttered. Yumeko got up, dusted off her jeans, and dragged him up on his feet.

"Come on, Sanae brought her goth friends. I'll introduce you."

"But they're all weirdoes!"

Yumeko snorted at him. "Yeah, and you know what they're not going to be? Boring. Come on, take a chance."

He licked his dry lips, hesitated.

Let her pull him to his feet.



"...I really did like your cousin, you know?"

"I know. Now stop hiding behind her and go."

6. Break away

(at first I wanted to use Tyr himself as a character, but I couldn't figure out anything. So you get Xiang Lin instead. XD Feel free to request another one if you wanted a specific character -- just switch numbers or something :p)

"Of course we're so proud of you for enrolling, Lin. Only, do you know where you'll be stationned? Because in two years the Chen's eldest will be done with University and..."

She closes her book. "I'm sorry, Mother. I signed on for longer than that."

Her mother sends her a confused look that slowly edges into baffled, irritated disbelief. "What on Earth for?"

"The war isn't going to be over in two years."

"Of course not! But you're giving them more than most people ever do, and I--"

"Ten."

"... What?"

"Ten years. Please convey my apologies to the Chens. I won't be able to meet with their son."

Her mother stares at her like she's a stranger, and then calls her father over, and then starts the screaming.

She's not going to the army to wear secretary skirts and get her ass pinched. She could stay home for that. She wonders how much louder they'll be, when they learn she's not going to a support position in some office, hoping to snag herself an officer and retire before she hits thirty, but straight to the front lines.

If there's an officer in her life, it'll be no one but herself.

13. Misfortune (kinda restoreverse, I think. XD)

When Sephiroth doubled back, he found Cloud seated on a jutting rock at the side of the road, staring at his bike. The Fenrir was propped up against another rock, at the end of a trail of motor oil. The splatters had reached an impressive size toward the end.

He stopped his own bike in the middle of the street, arched an eyebrow at Cloud's somber expression. "Strife?" he asked, pointedly.

"No pieces to fix that," Cloud replied.

He sounded somewhat incredulous. Sephiroth quirked his eyebrow a bit higher. Huh.

"... I had no idea this kind of failure could even happen, and now it's the third time in a week --" Cloud exhaled forcefully and got up on his feet. "Nevermind."

"I would offer to take a look," Sephiroth said slowly, aware that Cloud was already starting to bristle with territorial impulses, "But I was never interested in learning more than how to change a tyre."

Cloud stared at him for a second, as if Sephiroth had just admitted that all those times they'd sparred he'd been winging it and he really didn't have a clue about swordplay as anything else than 'flail it around, see what happens'. It was unexpectedly entertaining.

He didn't think Strife would find Sephiroth mentioning he'd always had mechanics to fix those pesky details for him very endearing, though. He sobered up.

"Midgar is still five hours away. I suggest you hide the bike and come back later with a truck. Unless you'd rather stay and wait for me to arrange something?" he inquired, sure that would get him a 'no'. "I don't believe this area is particularly rich in monsters..."

"Or," Cloud replied, "I could get my PHS and call someone now."

Or that, yes. "Who will still be five hours away."

Strife stared at him for a minute, eyes narrowed like he suspected Sephiroth of various nefarious things. In the end he seemed to be unable to figure out anything to suspect him for, and shrugged.

"Ah, hell, why not. I'll come back tomorrow." A sigh. "Just let me get the swords..."

Sephiroth watched in undisguised amusement as Strife proceeded to pull out a half-dozen blades from the bike. "Have you ever heard of 'less is more'?" he inquired silkily. Cloud sent a black glare his way.

"I don't want to hear that from you, Mr. Seven Feet Long."

He heaved, pulling the heavy bike straight, and started pushing it toward a couple of big rocks. Sephiroth personally thought there was little risk it would be stolen even if left in plain sight -- the road they'd taken was often deserted for days on end, and no one but a SOLDIER could have handled the thing in the first place. Granted, someone might still want it for pieces...

"With my luck I'm going to come back to find nothing left but the handlebars," Strife said as he trudged back down to the road.

Sephiroth let out an almost silent chuckle.

"... So." Cloud holstered the pieced-together sword and sized him up.

"Did you perhaps want to drive?" Sephiroth inquired, with a hint of incredulous politeness that meant surely he must be dreaming if he thought that was going to happen.

For a second Cloud's eyes glinted in challenge, but apparently the god-given right of a man to drive his own bike wasn't something he dared to challenge. "... Nah." Sighing, he walked up to the bike and swung his leg over the seat.

Being much cheaper than Strife's Fenrir, the seat wasn't long enough to allow him to do that without brushing against Sephiroth's shoulders, or, once seated, to prevent his thighs from bracketing Sephiroth's hips. The contact made him shuffle in his seat, looking for a better position for a few seconds before admitting that there wasn't any.

Sephiroth stared ahead at the dusty road, and considered with mild bewilderment the little flutter of warmth and interest curling in his belly.

That was... perhaps not entirely unexpected, in hindsight.

"... What are you looking at?"

"Merely contemplating the drag of your sword against the wind and its effect on fuel use," he lied smoothly, and revved the engine.

"Hey, stop dissing the sword already," Cloud retorted, and he grabbed for Sephiroth's shoulder to keep from being thrown off.

Perhaps this was Cloud Strife's unlucky day, but Sephiroth found he couldn't quite agree.

42. Standing Still

All day their footsteps take them in different directions. Hers to the village and the marketplace, his to the forests and mountains. She paces around her kitchen; he prowls the world's battlefields. She washes and cooks. He trains, he hunts.

But each morning, before they go, they stand together on their threshold, and together they meditate until the sun rises on their garden.

37. Eyes (Tyr story)

The empty eye socket blended in better back when the whole side of her face was raw flesh, bruises and rashes. Now that only a few scabbing scratches were left around the orbit Serrano knew he couldn't have been looking at anything else. She arched her eyebrow, the one that didn't hurt. It was the first time Anderson had seen her eye; she'd gotten used not to begrudge people their first reaction.

"Is he dead?" Andersen just asked, without changing his non-expression.

She stared at him for a couple of seconds, and then she laughed, a low chuckle, on second thought not that surprised he would skip all the 'oh god's and the 'I'm sorry's and 'does it hurt's, ignore all those stammers that asked how handicapped she really was, now. "He is."

"Figured he'd be." He smiled back, just a curl at the corner of his lip, faint and unsurprised.

They looked at each other for a few seconds longer.

"I'm moving out of the dorms," he said.

She nodded. She'd heard.

"Want to move in with?"

It was a little strange, she reflected, how much she didn't even need to think about it.

Azula and Zuko, 42. Standing Still

He remembers Azula differently. Even sitting, even asleep, she was always full to the brim with the potential for explosive movement, for attack. Hers was the perfect stillness of the waiting predator.

He stands beside her in the morning sun, and for the first time in his life he doesn't see a tigerdillo, he doesn't see a dragon, waiting to strike. He sees a tree.

It's strange how getting the ground yanked out from under her allowed her to finally grow roots.

"Are you glad to be home?"

She doesn't roll her eyes, but so pointedly she might as well have. "Please do stop begging for reassurance, dear brother, that's unbecoming of the Fire Lord."

He doesn't think she'll ever not have thorns, though.

"I've never been very becoming," he replies, and when she predictably throws a quick barb at the opening he just handed her, he smiles, because he can hear the awkwardness, the 'I cannot fathom how you can still love me' in it, and Azula has always hated things she cannot understand.

He's waiting for her to get bored and leave, but in the end they stand together until the sun has detached entirely from the horizon and a secretary comes to get him. The man finds Zuko smiling, Azula not, but she's still standing right here and that's more than enough for him.



(... so with the prompt I couldn't come up with anything else but redeemed!Azula. and now it's trying to evolve an epic about how *that* happened and how people (his subjects especially) believe zuko is a fool and being tricked by his devil sister again, but this time he can tell it's different. yay sibling loev.)

... Hrrrm. Could probably be tinkered with a little more, but I'm braindead. ;_;

All the lamps in the lab save one were off. She'd dismissed all the researchers hours ago.

"Are you still beating your skull against the same thing?" Vegeta asked, with an edge of insulting disbelief. She didn't turn around.

"I put it back together yesterday," she replied. "Bit of a puzzle, but easy enough. Figured out the cause of failure this morning at eleven fifteen."

"So why the hell are you still here?"

She didn't answer. Vegeta stalked his way through the cluttered workshop. On her desk were blueprints for a dozen different inventions, quite a few inspired adaptations of the Ice-jin healing tanks.

"I can't find a way to fix him," she eventually admitted, voice hitching just barely. She kept staring ahead into the desk lamp's harsh light until she had to be blinded by it.

"Even if you found a way to fix the body, he's not in it anymore," Vegeta said abruptly. Bulma's fingers curled slowly into fists. She didn't stop staring straight at the lamp.

"I supposed it must all seem very silly to you anyway."

"Yes."

Unsurprised, she closed her eyes.

"Not as silly as wasting your time here when you could be fixing your mother. The woman's been howling since yesterday."

She flinched, even though she'd known that would happen.

"...He died the way he'd lived. That's the only proper way, even for an egg-headed paper-pusher like him and you. Now stop being pitiful already."

"Saiyajin," she said like it was an epithet, but after a few seconds she let out a shuddery breath, clicked off the lamp and pushed herself up on her feet.

Do you know the fandom Yuu Yuu Hakusho?? I believe you mentioned it once, but I cant' find evidence of it. >.< I would dearly love something from it, if possible. And there's been requests a many, and I have no idea what numbers taken, so either prompts #39, #58, #69, #50? For Kurama and Hiei?? if you don't know the fandom forget it. :)
