Aeris isn't sure when her real birthday is for the longest time. But it doesn't matter; Elmyra's cakes for the day of their meeting are always delicious, being with Zack is like a party at every date, and the Earth celebrates her every day.

For her birthday, Tifa gets a beautiful picture from Marlene and a potted plant from Denzel.

She has to request her third present, but then Cloud did say she could ask him anything, and she has never been able to get rid of her flustered fascination at the memory of him in that dress.

One day the woman decides she wants to know the day of his birth -- like being pushed through a vagina is some kind of big accomplishment -- and she nags him until he tells her.

And then she leaves him in peace for two weeks as she tries to calculate the orbit of a dead planet and how it would have translated into Earth days. It's too bad she's a genius, even a stupid one who wastes her time on unimportant things.

She looks a lot less content with herself when he tells her, and so, for his first "birth day", he gets a whole closet-full of pink shirts, pink pants, and pink armor.

He snorts at her, tells her that pink is the color of warriors on Arigonosei because it's the color of diluted blood (he doesn't tell her that on Vegetasei the emphasis would be on "diluted", which is as mortal an insult as they come.)

For one of the rare birthdays when Kakarott is home and not dead, the woman uses it as a pretext for a party, which he would spend in the training room, alone, except Kakarott slips in with him and offers him a spar.

They level the training room and half the compound. So far, it's the only birth day worth his time he's ever spent on this stupid mudball of a planet.

For his birthday when his son is five (he forgets which one it is for him, it really doesn't matter much) the brat comes home miserable, because some guy in his school tore up the picture he was drawing for his father's birthday. Vegeta doesn't care about that, because his son certainly doesn't have any talent and that's a pansy thing to encourage anyway. But when Trunks tells him he got sent home early for pummeling the bully, Vegeta smirks and condescends to pat his head briefly.

She knows it is her birthday, because the piles of presents from random people she barely knows -- they are courting her father through her -- take up half the foyer. She only opens them to know which charity she will send them to.

There's delicious breakfast food from her mother, and her father even made a little robot to remind himself; it only has to prod him twice. She totally forgets about her presents as they start discussing its specs.

In the evening, Goku whirls by on accident and drags her on another adventure. She screams a protest; if he didn't bring her, she knows she'd scream louder.

The best presents Kabuto has ever received, by order of importance:

-Scalpels; a whole series, all subtly different, all perfected for one specific task;

-The love and trust of his adoptive father, which made killing him and passing it off as an accident so laughingly easy;

-Orochimaru-sama's purpose, which he wasn't sure he wanted, and now cannot do without.

His three most beautiful birthday presents:

-Eikichi makes him a grandfather of a litter of seven kittens. The neighbor cat's owner is a little shrill about it; before he knows it, he ends up with the mother too. He spends the next half year trying to find homes for them that fit his standards, before deciding that none will ever do; besides, his sister has gotten bored of complaining about his horde of felines by now.

-A leather jacket -- he doesn't even want to know for how long his gang had to save for them to pool enough resources for it. He would leave it on the back of his chair at home and never risk it in a fight, except that he's pretty sure that's a lot like having a fast car and never taking it out of the garage. They'd be insulted. The jacket survives a surprising number of years, and when it dies, it is through shielding him from a possibly lethal burn, and he mourns it until his friends thump him for it.

-Yukina says yes.

Yachiru gives him a commiserating nod, sitting at his side on the bench. She's disappointed too. That new guy's got potential to be interesting, not that Kenpachi would know for sure since his reiatsu is so well-muffled, but he's just too polite about refusing fights, and he never leaves any opening for Kenpachi to just attack him. And suddenly Yachiru's eyes light up, her long legs -- when did that happen? -- unfold, and she jumps on her feet, dusting off her uniform. "Leave it to me, Ken-chan!"

They hear his bellow of "WHAT DID YOU DO TO YACHIRU, YOU PERVERTED LITTLE FREAK?!" over the whole of Seireitei. Best thing is, there are witnesses to testify about her mussed hair and open kimono.

Of course the fact that the little bastard got a look -- perhaps even a hand -- down there goes on the minus list, but Kenpachi figures, if she minded, she'd have slashed off the guy's hands on her own.

Strangely enough, THAT thought is a minus, too.


-Ichigo comes to find him after he dies for good. "I'm free for your rematch now, still interested?"


-His sword gets tired of him being a dumbass and just tells him her name, already. And then he realizes he's always known.
