Drabble prompts plz?
So. Who wants to help me out with the Gundam Wing/Temeraire AU thing by giving me prompts? Because I really want to write more of it, but I don't want to just redo the whole series episode by episode and never deviate from that. It's boring. D:
... oh and um, while you're at it, I'm also open to prompts for the FF7/Daemon AU thing. >_>;; So long as they roughly fit in the ff7 'verse & timeline, that is.
-The two 'verses are gen, but I'll take pairing prompts for this.
-I won't do spoilers on Sephiroth's daemon's adult shape, though I'm good with kiddyroth.
caveats:
- my inspiration is flighty, so supermegathanks if you leave me prompts, but it's very possible it'll just go and decide not to kick into gear. It always makes me feel guilty as hell but when it doesn't work, it REALLY doesn't work. ~__~;
-I often do way better with concrete prompts than philosophical/poetic prompts.
Otherwise, no limits on how many you give me. Prettyplease prompt away. ♥

First of all, realy need to read the Temeraire series because my ignorance is stopping me reading fics by both you and esama now, two of my fave authors. :p
Secondly, I'd really like to see a FFVII Daemon verse ficlet with either:
*Ifalna fleeing for Midgar with baby Aeris, I really wanna see infant Daemon like whoa.
Or
*Gast in the labs with mini!Sephiroth as the scientist starts to have serious doubts about creating a new cetra at the cost of Sephiroth's childhood.
I will love you forever if you write even a line or two of either of these. X3
Gast & Sephiroth
Sephiroth & nameless, unsettled daemon
Sephiroth is five year old when his daemon starts mimicking the daemons of people they are around. Which is a normal stage of development in children, perfectly on schedule.
What's not normal is that when this happen his daemon doesn't flit back to something else in a matter of minutes, or, if interacting directly with that person and their daemon, as soon as they have left the room.
Sephiroth has always had a surprisingly long attention span for a child. It shouldn't be called abnormal, it should be called remarkable. The lab hands are impressed, the caretakers find it adorable. Professor Hojo has not a word of criticism about it; if any, when he sees a little tonberry toddling after the boy he even tends to smile.
Sephiroth's daemon can stay a tonberry for days after a visit from Hojo, and Gast would be all ready to hail it as proof of developing parental bonding if Sephiroth's face didn't go so utterly blank.
When he moves, he mimics the tonberry, too.
Gast gets the scalpel back before he can swing it down into his own daemon's flank. But try as he may he can't convince Sephiroth to get his daemon to stop mimicking people's.
He starts bringing the boy in his office when he has paperwork to do. It doesn't stop the behavior but at least when his daemon rolls around as an otter with Gast's Shelag, Sephiroth actually smiles.

not to fail you spectacularly! I'll give you a combination of prompts and scenes from the series proper I'd love to see again reimagined with dragons. The ending Dorothy v. Quatre fight/philosophy argument
Trowa & Heavyarms at circus: but can you top this?
Duo & Scythe: failing at stealth
Whatever dragons you want, complaining about their riders' suicidalness and/or defending said riders.
Quatre & Sandrock during Quatre's epic breakdown
...that's all I've got. ._.
Duo & Scythe: failing at stealth
"Oh, shut up and push, before I kick you."
"You just try it, you stupid lizard-- And I am pushing!"
"I do believe it would be more productive to pull, at this point."
Duo jerked up, looked panicked for a couple of seconds, and then grinned and leaned nonchalantly against his dragon's butt, as if looking casual enough could make it look less like it was sticking out of the cargo hold's wall. Deathscythe's back claws skidded on the floor a last time and went still.
"Uh. Old man G?"
"Mm-hm."
"... Aha. Haha. Ha."
"Oh, by the way, the rations you ate are coming out of your next week's meals."
"Hey!" Deathscythe started wriggling again. G tried not to make it too obvious exactly how ridiculous he found having a conversation with a dragon butt.
"Aw, man, he'll do his starved hatchling trick and make me hand over my own to compensate!" Duo complained, grabbing his tail and starting to pull. "He's always starving, it's not fair."
"It's your punishment for thieving," G replied. "Next time..."
"Ask you first?" Duo turned to give him an aghast look, and stared when he noticed G was entirely serious. "But you bitch every time we have to revise his meal curve upwards!"
The dragon and the boy tumbled to the floor as Deathscythe suddenly popped free of the maintenance crawlspace, ruining his indignation.
"... I was going to say, next time, don't get caught."
Obviously the rising quantity of food to steal would mean rising difficulties, and rising consequences; but G had faith that Duo wouldn't get caught a second time, not now that he was taking it seriously.

Catherine meeting Heavyarms for the first time, possibly at the circus?
Kinda curious what the dragon equivalent of the Zero system would be too (this was spawned by phoenix's prompt about Quatre's epic meltdown).
Apparently I suck at fluff. Did I mention I love this Temeraire/GW crossover thing, because I think I forgot. It's awesome. <3

Any of the boys first meeting, training with, or just getting to know their dragon.
Heero meets and gets to know Wing 1/2 (angstysap alert!)
The boy wasn't sure why that question had even been asked. J already knew. "English, Japanese and Russian fluently, some Cantonese." He frowned, thinking; what other languages... "Notions of spoken French, Spanish, Arabic..."
"Good, good."
Doctor J kept tinkering with the microscope for a minute. The boy waited.
"Dragons learn language through the shell," J said eventually. "It'll be to our advantage that it know as many as possible. The techs have English and Japanese covered; you can start with Russian."
The boy hesitated. "Should I... give it lessons?" He had never refused an order so far -- half because J never gave a task which he knew the boy physically could not complete. But he had no experience in formal education to draw on.
"No, not lessons." J looked over his shoulder, gave a smile the boy could not read. "Just talk to it. That'll do."
Later, when he stood in the brooding room before the patterned eggshell, the boy thought there was nothing 'just' about any of it.
It was stuffy in the small room, the air heavy and damp. The lights were red, so that even though it was daytime in the rest of the ship, in there it felt like midnight. He closed the door before all the heat could get out and leaned his back against it.
The egg was waist-high, striated night blue and gold. It seemed... egg-shaped. There wasn't much else to be observed, and it wasn't like this was the first time he saw it, in any case. It hadn't changed since.
He had two hours of liberty a day, between end of lessons and sleep, and he'd decided if he spend one of them in there instead of his bedroom there would be little difference; only now that he was here he didn't have a clue where to start.
"... Hello," he said, and didn't feel any less awkward now that he had started. "Doctor J asked me to speak to you. He wants you to learn Russian."
He stood in silence for another minute or three, his sweaty back sticking to warm metal.
"Russian is spoken in Russia, and a lot of countries that used to be part of it, several centuries ago. It's the largest country in the world, from Eastern Europe across all of North Asia. It spans nine time zones... Some areas tend to be extremely cold, and not densely inhabited."
He freed a hand to tug on his shirt, which was sticking to him, tapped the toes of his shoe against the floor.
"...I've never been."
The blue of the shell looked black like old tacky blood under the lamps, the gold specks orange like fire.
He spent the rest of the hour going through numbers and conjugating whatever verbs he could think of.
The day after that he borrowed a book from one of the weapon teams and read out loud. It was about socioeconomics. He finished it in three sessions, and then frowned, as he sat before the egg in the small, stuffy room.
"It wasn't very interesting, was it. It won't make you want to come out of the shell."
They tried novels next, a Regency romance full of people whose motives baffled him and a couple of murder mysteries. An autobiography. They reached the end of the available Russian texts after that.
"They're making your armament," he said. "I don't suppose gun specs would speak to you much without seeing the schematics. It's... it seems like it'll work well."
He rubbed his heel against the floor, started worrying at his laces. Might as well take his shoes off. He sweated so much otherwise. The door was locked anyway, and it was the most secure area in the whole base. He wouldn't need to run anywhere in a hurry.
"Sometimes in my head I call myself Odin Jr."
He wrapped his fingers in shoelaces, tugging back and forth.
"It's one of my oldest codenames. It's obsolete, though. Long out of date."
Pause. Breathe. The door was thick. Soundproof. The only sensors were on the egg, heartbeat monitors, pressure pads.
"I haven't been given a new one yet."
The heat and red-tinged darkness, the size of the room, gave the false impression of being... inside a sound-dampening field. Inside a shell. He wasn't sure. He wrapped his arms around his knees.
"Maybe J forgot," he said against his knees, and wasn't sure the egg could even hear him if he spoke so quietly.
He spent the rest of the hour in silence.

Sorry bit of a flood here.
Heero and Wing meet Duo and Deathscythe- and how does the "stealing parts from Wing" translate?
Epyon- what's she like?
Heero and Zechs' Antarctica fight WITH DRAGONS
Heero's self-destruct. What was Wing feeling during? What happens after, when Trowa and Heavyarms help them heal?
Trowa destroying Deathscythe
Duo's failed self-destruct. Did Duo know how Deathscythe loved him before that moment?
Duo's fight against Mercurius and Vayete.
Do Wufei and Nataku reach an accord and why
Trowa and Quatre meet and decide not to fight. Did Heavyarms and Sandrock agree or protest, were they the ones to feel it and convince their riders, or the other way round? Maybe Quatre and Heavyarms did the convincing?
And of course, Quatre destroying a colony. Is he with Wing/Zero or Sandrock/Zero? What is Zero in xover-land, a new and different dragon? Wing, mentally shattered after self-destruction and Noventa? A mind-altering dragon drug or technology? All of the above, or something else entirely?
Re: Sorry bit of a flood here.
Though, um, I already wrote Heero and Wing meet Duo and Deathscythe. Like, yesterday. XD;
Re: Sorry bit of a flood here.

Annnnnnd I'm seconding the Heero and Wing meet Duo and Deathscythe and the one about them meeting their dragons for the first time. (I especially want to see Duo's. How'd an orphan wind up with a dragon? How does he react? How does Deathscythe react, etc.)
FF7 Daemons... a scene between Zack, Sephiroth, and Aeris? Because I love how you write that OT3. But I can't remember if the prompts you were taking for that was solely based on canon? Eh, lemme know if it doesn't work.
WHEE. You are doing a meme for not one but TWO of my favorites crossovers ever.

I was thinking, but I hadn't said yet.. i kinda want one daemon canonish verse, and one where Aeris lives, so that one might as well also have SephZackCloudAeris background shenanigans, while I'm at it. XD The idea of sane!Seph and Aeris daemons interacting is very prrt. ... um, but that would be when seph's way past the age for his daemon to settle, though. argh, Will have to keep it for later. ~__~

One-upping each other. The dragons are placed in a confined space for X reason, and begin boasting to each other about their relative feats. Speed, endurance, skill, virility, all are up for grabs. Things go downhill fast and become...unprofessional.
Zero System. Just...Zero System.

So! *brightly*
'Scythe doing some crazy awesome aerial acrobatics. Maybe he stealth failed, maybe he's having fun, maybe he's trying to dump Duo into the drink but the human isn't co-operating, maybe something else.
And another dragon (or two!) is heavily admiring this and hits on him. Even if there are missiles flying everywhere because it was a stealth fail. Only, *ahem*, it's not a dragoness that's telling him to shake that tail.

That scene always made me wounder if perhaps the gundams where starting to become sentient.

Lady Une's has two personalities; would her dragon (if she has one) share the same trait?
Echoing other's requests about the Zero system and if it's there/how it manifests.
Did Duo steal Scythe? I'm kind of amused by the idea that he just kept sneaking into the room to get warm.
Duo and Scythe arguing while hanging underneath a bridge and attempting to hide.
Fixing the roof of Aeris's church. ^_^
Marlene and Cloud meeting/interacting.

How about Deathscythe and his opinion on the lifespan difference between Duo and him. (Or did all the genetic tinkering shorten it? Like a firecracker, pow and then it's gone?) Or Hilde and Relena being badass together while under fire from a dragon. Or Relena facing down a dragon by herself. I love girl power and snark, yes I do.
Random worldbuilding thoughts: How does using dragons instead of mecha change the war? (Losses in combat more important since they can't build more quickly, making each battle more significant?) After the war the dragons would be much harder to hide than a giant robot you could melt down, how would that play out?
FFVII daemon AU- Yuffie's daemon interacting with Cid's daemon at any point in time. Or how a daemon reacts to crystallized mako cakes aka where Lucrezia's at. Does the mako bother them or not at all because they're pieces of soul which kind of makes them like mako? /endbabble

I'm kinda wondering if Treize even has a dragon at this point. After all, Epyon wasn't created until after Treize resigned from OZ.

(Anonymous) 2011-05-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)Was Wing more emotional or less controlled as a newly hatched dragon? Was there adorable toddling after Heero, where she's supposed to be locked in a lab or something, but always escapes (by picking the locks with her claws or melting a hole in the wall, or charming a lab tech) and then is found hours later cuddled in his laundry basket, under his desk, behind the curtains, on top of the bookshelf. And they keep upgrading the security but she always escapes, until one day it becomes inescapable, and then Heero breaks her out and gives some lame excuse about it being escape "training" for Wing, when really it's because he can't bear to see her sad.
Or stories of the horrific pranks Scythe must have subjected everyone to. >.< He must have stolen so many "treasures," (hm, would those be rare parts instead of jewels etc)! Seriously, can you imagine Scythe and hide-and-seek?

Sandrock and the Maguanacs versus Quatre's tendency to blame himself for everything.
Relena and Wing have a Conversation about persistence and overprotectiveness versus drawing attention unnecessarily (because Relena keeps showing up, and Wing is a dragon and thus very large and noticeable)
Shenlong and Wufei saving each other even though it's not the best thing for the mission, even though they're not really attached to each other, oh no, absolutely not.
I'd like to see more of Heavyarms and Trowa, too. Hm... maybe Heavyarms' thoughts on the fact that Trowa's name actually isn't Trowa? Either that, or Trowa sort of unintentionally teaching his dragon that mercenary "never leave a man behind" mentality
Scythe finds out about the stories of sea serpents, and decides that this would be an excellent distraction while Duo's sneaking somewhere on a mission. Reactions amongst the other people on the mission vary.
...Enough to be getting on with?
2 prompts!
(Anonymous) 2011-05-16 03:56 am (UTC)(link)Also something that might be interesting to explore is how different L5 might have turned out in this universe. Would the trend of dragon companion advisers have continued in China or died with the emperors (for that matter, I imagine a number of events would have gone differently in China-would communism have still happened with dragons on the opposing side? Or would it have been something like a peasant _and_ dragon revolution, where the other dragons revolt against the Celestials and Imperials, who have grown a little too hedonistic?
Or what about the inclusion of dragon advisers among the council/elders who decided L5 had to sacrifice itself? ;_; Ahh! In my head that is so pretty/tragic!

A lot of times, the GW guys go off on covert missions, run around, blow stuff up, hide out in plain sight, etc. Normally, the Gundams just get hidden under a camo net or sunk in a lake or whatever. But with dragons...what do they do? Especially for extended time periods-like when Heero and Duo go to school together? How in the world are they keeping their dragons fed and healthy...and not going mentally insane due to a lack of stimulation?
no subject
For GW/T:
Dragon!Nataku's views on Trieze - specifically, the way he manipulates Wufei into killing him.
Wufei's attitude towards dragon!Nataku.
Treize's dragon - does it live after he dies? How does dragon!Nataku feel about him/her?
You know that episode where Treize beats Wufei and then Wufei goes a little crazy and runs around in the desert screaming at animals and stuff? What d!N thinks about that/her perspective of it.
(Can you tell who my favourite character is, haha.)
All!dragons reactions to Zero system and Wing Zero.
For FF7/D:
Zack&&daemon meeting Cloud&&daemon for the first time.
Zack&&daemon shenanigans.
Turks - are they separated from their daemons? Do their daemons tend to be a single type?
Zack&&daemon/kiddyroth&&daemon/randompeople&&daemons' reactions to Hojo and his daemon.
Relation of daemon bond and lifestream and Jenova's corruption - maybe the ... disease, forget the name, the wasting disease they get in FFV&:AC, maybe that disease corrodes the bond between daemon and person?
How daemons react to Jenova's influence. Do they fall under it, do they remain 'sane' and try to stop their human from doing stuff?
And finally: does Sephiroth still have a daemon after he 'dies'/is trapped in North Crater/he falls into the lifestream.
no subject
I love prompts!
um.... FF7 daemons!
Red's thoughts on the existence of daemons, and if there was ever a...whatever he is - that wanted a daemon (or fancied themselves one), like Iofur.
GW/Temeraire
Dorothy and her dragon at a social event.
does her dragon also have ridiculous eyebrows?

Dragons don't eat in Space unless they're in space station, in which case they eat artificially flavored proteins just like people do. XD And oooh their first time looking for food on earth might be real shiny. I'm pretty sure none of them have hunted before. oooooh. *___* Nice one! Thank you.
