Okay, this is a deviantart-related bitching session, that I'm reposting here because I know some of you enjoy it when I go RARRRR.

I swear I could draw akamaru/pakkun on there and someone would still complain that clearly Akamaru is canonly going to end up with Kiba's big sister's three dogs and here's the manifesto to prove it. Also I have a headache that won't quit from looking at all this anti-hinata wank. This post sounds super-pissy as a result. But it was actually kind of funny to write and now I feel much better, so heh.

Still got the headache though. Hn.

Fact: either naruhina/sasusaku or narusaku will become canon in the manga.

Fact: I am not the person drawing the manga.

Therefore: Why do people keep expecting me to draw only stuff that will fit in (what they assume/hope/make a wild ass guess will be in) the manga.

Furthermore: WHY DO THEY EXPECT ME TO GIVE A SHIT.

I like Sasuke with Naruto. It's not gonna happen in the manga. I like Sasuke with Itachi. It's DEFINITIVELY not gonna happen in the manga. I like Itachi with Neji. Do those two even know the other guy exists?

So you post and you tell me so. "You know, the pic is okay, but I really don't think those two are gonna happen." And it takes me all my strength to keep from asking you what's that got to do with the price of butter in China and whether you were always so obnoxious and obsessive and smug about your ship of choice.

I like Sasuke with Sakura because it's romantico-tragic and their color schemes offset each other nicely. Not because It's So Gonna Happen!!!! And Sakura with Naruto because they make for dynamic and vivid scenes. Not because It's So Gonna Happen!!!! And Naruto with Sasuke because there is no end to the variety of things I could draw them doing and they'd still be hot/funny/tragic/everything. Not because It's So Gonna Happen!!!! And all three of them together, always and forever amen. (It damn well SHOULD happen.)

I like Naruto with Hinata because it's sweet and cute. I like Hinata with Neji because it's tragic and pretty to look at. I like Sasuke with Hinata because visually they match like a set of mostly-silent noble-born bookends. I like Naruko-chan with KyuubiNaruto because it's the best, hottest crack, and if it happens in the manga I will take a plane ticket and suck Kishimoto's dick, but I'm pretty sure my mouth is, sadly, going to remain unmolested.

If you don't like them, you have two choice.

1) I still like the art style! Here, have some compliment and/or helpful art crit.
2) OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS MARVELOUS INVENTION?? IS IT THE FABLED BACKBUTTON???? :O

I don't give a shit if you don't like my subject matter. It's not my problem -- it's YOURS.

I don't give a shit that you believe Kishimoto told you how everything will end and anyone who dares to make pretty pictures that don't relate to The Canon Pairings As I Assume They Will Happen should have their drawings printed and used as toilet paper because it shouldn't have been drawn in the first place, no matter how pretty or fun the end result is and how many hours they spent working on it.

Conclusion: Don't drag me into pairing debates. My picture comments are for comments about the picture. If you can't comment on the picture, then don't comment at all.

I would just like to say that everything about you - your fics, your art, and your rants (ESPECIALLY your art) - is full of total WIN. You can make any pairing - canon or cracktastic - look beautiful. So long as the art is pretty, that's all I care about. And guess what? If I don't agree with the pairing portrayed, I just think of it as a really awesome portrait of two characters and love it anyway! I don't know why so many people waste time on pairing wars... because that's exactly what it is. Wasting time.

for me I don't see the manga ending with any specific pairing. I just believe that Kishimoto likes to torture us by implying hundreds of different pairings. (lol).

I do however see SasuNaru happening if Kishimoto were to make a manga sequel to Naruto (which there have been rumors for, I'm not 100% sure though. I hope it happens though! lol)

I completely agree with you though. It's one thing to say "i like this pairing and your art is so good! The coloring is beautiful". But I do agree that it's wrong to say that "that's never gonna happen in the manga"

Like myself, you're a freelance artist. Meaning, you'll create any art piece that comes to your mind. You don't follow with certain "fads" because you don't know how they'll end.

I just wanted to add that I think your rant needs to be posted somewhere where everyone in the fandom can see. There is just too much wankary going on.
As for Hinata, well, she was never my cup of tea. Don't know why, I just never cared much for her, but I still don't understand all the hate. And besides, she looks absolutely kick-ass in those panels, so where the hell is all this fuckery coming from I cannot fathom.
People need to get over their inner thirteen-year-old-prepubescent-girl selves and realize that just because they really wanted to smack whoever it was that stole away their First One True Love (TM), this should not in any way or form transfer over to fictional characters. Ugh..how long have you been putting up with that..? People with brains should be able to understand that art and canon manga or--their ships-- aren't always holding hands. So..yeah.

I guess it's useless to say "don't pay attention" cause you wrote an entry about it, but I don't think this will stop the crazyshippingpeople from commenting on stupid things. Anyways I guess writing it helped to release some stress..or so I hope it did. =)

I think that the Hinata hate mostly springs from the malady known as 'Boob Envy', cases of 'Boob Envy' have been sighted across the web and are rather prominent in the Naruto and Bleach fandoms.

The people (*cough* girls *cough*) that claim they don't like Hinata/Tsunade/Orihime etc because they 'are too weak', 'stay away from fighting too much' and so on are all obviously too fixated on their own washboards to see past the obvious and pay any attention to the characters in question.

On the other hand who can blame them, I'd be fixated too if I wasn't a frickin' E-cup. .___.

Since I've yet to see anyone actually being gleeful about the Hinata "maybe death" that didn't also TIEP LIECK DIS I feel comfortable saying most people of this opinion are giant freaking idiots. And as I've long since given up trying to make idiots stop being stupid, I'm fairly comfortable with that.

As in, Art made by FANS; not art made by the Creator. As in, 'I can draw WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT because I'm a fan yanking the characters for my own vision via my own inspiration. What is so horribly difficult to understand about this? It makes about as much sense as when some idiot on FF.net complained when I gave Shikamaru a riding Elk name Yakul. It DOESN'T!!

I love your art, I love the dynamics, the colors and the way each image seems to embody an emotion; anger, serenity, playfulness, sexual tension, etc. Anyone who doesn't, doesn't get art nor understands the fact that there is NO True Way. Keep rockin' Asuka, I'll keep droolin'. ^_^

I don't think it's (perceived by most of the people who say things like that as being) about "obnoxious", "obsessive", or "smug".

It's simply that, from a certain perspective, anything which is not compatible with canon is less worthwhile and/or less valuable than things which are. This isn't limited to ships, either, nor is it intended as arrogance or condemnation; it's merely, in many cases, an unquestioned assumption.

I think the unstated paradigm there is something along the lines of "if it's not going to happen in canon, there inherently cannot be either any point in expending effort and attention on it or any benefit to be had thereby" - and, as an inescapable consequence once that premise is accepted, the much more potentially offensive "by drawing this you have wasted your time and effort, and paying attention to it would be a waste of my time and effort, whereas if you had drawn something which could happen it would have been worth your time to have drawn and my time to pay attention to it, and the world would be a better place for having that something in it". (There are lesser forms of this available which substitute "less point"/"less benefit" or similar concepts, but the logic is much the same.)

In that light, comments on the fact that the picture depicts something not compatible with canon *are* comments about the picture, in that not being compatible with canon is (considered to be) an inherently detrimental factor. In that light, pointing out that the picture is not compatible with canon is in fact an honest attempt to be helpful.

I don't especially share that mindset, as you may have guessed from the fact that I even read your LJ, but I can see how it can arise and seem 'natural and correct' (to the point of never being consciously noticed much less questioned) to those who hold it.
