Someone sent me Teamwork-related questions, and I babbled a bit, and now i'm in a teamworky moodso hey. Here they are if you're interested, and if you guys have any questions of your own that won't spoil the next fic then I'll answer them.

So far it hasn't happened much yet since they got together! They haven't been separated for more than a few hours to maybe a weekend, and even when they're not living together they still train or have missions. For the shorter breaks Naruto often wanders out to go see Iruka or Shikamaru and Kiba and the rest of the group and those evenings Sasuke and Sakura apparently take the chance to have a quiet day in. XD Often they'll be reading scrolls or books in the same room and not talking much. Sasuke likes it, he finds it restful and he does consider it something he does with Sakura, not just him pretending she's not here at all (he'd go in another room, and sometimes he does go into another room and lock himself in, that's different for him). Sasuke likes it some days because she knows what Sasuke means by it, and some days she'd like to chat but she doesn't want to disturb him too much and she wonders if maybe she isn't reading too much into it and he is, in fact, not even really noticing she's here.

So yeah, it's a bit awkward, mostly from her side. Sasuke assumes she understands him and his motives and thoughts, but he isn't fully taking into account her own needs about communication and closeness, and the thing is Sakura usually *does* get him really well, but sometimes she doubts herself and her understanding, since it's mostly wordless and she has a tendency not to trust her instincts, or to be down on herself in general. So Sasuke would be more awkward as well if he stopped assuming it's all fine. XD

Mind, that doesn't happen every time they're alone together. Sometimes Sakura feels daring or Sasuke feels... I don't know, cuddly? husbandly? XD and they'll be kind of leaning shoulder to shoulder and end up kind of cuddling. But first they have to test the waters for like a half hour or something. XDDD They're too used to Naruto dragging them in and getting things started.

This is kinda complicated. The issue isn't really that he's straight, the training does help not taking people's advances personally whether they're men or women -- he does sometimes get a bit aroused when getting close to very pretty women but he sees that as a distraction and "damn it why do I have so many hormones stupid teenagerhood", it doesn't happen with men -- it's that he's kinda macho, he wants to be a protector, only with his build and his face it's just not happening and he has to keep pretending to be frail and sensitive and while he can hide his true reactions for the good of the mission, that chafes. He'd be just as irritated if he was gay, only he'd be annoyed that sometimes his hormones get a foothold into his control and react inappropriately to targets (especially if he was passing as a girl at the time, sudden!erection isn't a surprise a lot of men would be happy about. XD) He does find men more dangerous to get close to, but they're also more predictable in some ways, and it's not related to his sexuality.

Anyway, he's not supposed to enjoy macking on people he's going to steal from or even kill later on, so long story short it's not that much of a bother and he has long since learned to see kissing and caressing people he's not attracted to as a performance art rather than anything personal. It's just when people learn that he's a guy and they immediately assume he's gay and naturally effeminate to boot, it pisses him off.

Hahaha, likely so. It'd be hilarious, wouldn't it. His target is pretty much anyone his mission persona pings as their type, he can adapt.

I think if Shuukaku had been anywhere near Kyuubi when he was half-freed and running on instinct things would have ended rather badly. Kyuubi wouldn't have let a male he didn't consider his at Sakura, especially one who might possibly (i don't think anyone's ever tried it so possibly not even the demons know?) erase/dominate the chakra bond he was tying into the potential baby. Sasuke wasn't a challenge in that way and Naruto's possessiveness leaked through to Kyuubi, but he doesn't see Gaara like that.

That or they'd have forgotten Sakura to tear each other to shreds and hatefuck until the village was a hole in the ground. XD

I admit I haven't thought much about how Shuukaku works and how his seal is set up.

During the Naruto/Sasuke fight at Valley of the End, but I haven't yet managed to write that flashback. Every time I get close to mentioning it the story swerves on me and argh. Long story short Kyuubi being more active he was gaining more influence during the fight, and so during the last pass instead of scratching Sasuke's headband Naruto put his hand through his lung. Sasuke was in the hospital for a while, it's mentioned in the prequel Progression but not really explained wtf happened to land him there. After that Itachi killed Orochimaru, because he was fine with Sasuke going to him if it was his decision but Oro was getting annoyed with his lateness and planned to kidnap him and that just was not on, so Sasuke didn't have anywhere to go so he stayed in Konoha. He kinda hated everyone and treated them like shit for the next two years. XD

If something neat is unveiled that doesn't mess up my plans, I tend to grab it. Even if it doesn't make it to the screen, for example Kushina being Naruto's mom, it's just that in my 'verse she wasn't a jinchuuriki since I'd said before Naruto was the first, but Kushina being awesome I am totally grabbing the hell out of her if I ever have a reason to mention her at all. I also grabbed Sai and Tenzou because I like them as characters and Konoha is a big village and it means two OCs I don't have to make up! If it doesn't match, I go with my previous ideas, unless the new canon is really awesome and works better with the plot than what I had planned instead. So far that hasn't happened yet, though. I had the Kyuubi as a summon idea two years before Kishi put it in his manga, damn it!!!! *pout pout pout* XDD;

uhh questions, yay, I love world building and explaining, ok here goes:

1) How many of their friends and how many people in the village know really what their relationship is?

2) do you think in that verse that if Naruto hadn't come into heat they would have gotten together differently or maybe only SasuNaru or SakuNaru?

3)at what point in the story have the feelings between those three balanced out, or do you think it still has to happen?

4) Why was Ankos reaction to their threesome so disgusted?

(also didn't you want to write the spin-off Neiji/Hinata/Naruto at some point ;P, oops that is not a real question I guess^^)

1) At the moment? Kakashi, Iruka, Tsunade and Jiraiya. Oh, and Kiba since he smelled it, but he's used to keeping that kind of secret (also he really doesn't wanna think about it too hard. XD) Oh and Ino since Sakura told her she was dating both of the boys and she then figured out they were also dating each other. Sakura's parents know about Sakura dating them both but not about them dating each other, and especially since Ino made a crack about it but already beforehand Shikamaru suspected Naruto and Sasuke are involved more hands-on than they seem, but he doesn't want to think about it either. ... I think that's it.

I can't remember how much Team Kunoichi had figured out about it, or if they'd only figured out about Sakura being pregnant. I think Kigane had noticed Sakura was jealous over both boys but that was it? argh idk.

(outside the village there's Temari and Kankuro because team Seven stayed in Suna for a little bit and they couldn't even sneeze without Temari getting a spy report on her desk about it so you bet she was told about the potential blackmail material there. Also uhh they weren't really trying to be discreet anyway. Idk if Gaara has figured it out but he doesn't care and probably deleted it from his brain the next minute to save on disk space.)

2) uhhhhhh this is hard to say, but probably not. Naruto might have gotten angry enough he and Sasuke would end up hatefucking, but even if Naruto clung with all his might to keep it going Sasuke would have tried his best to make so it didn't happen again and their relationship would have been angsty. Naruto and Sakura... nope, Naruto kinda stopped asking her out when he figured out she would never get over Sasuke and Sakura would feel like ass if she asked him out on a casual getting to know you-level date when she sort of knew he'd been interested more seriously for so long. Sasuke and Sakura, haha no.

3) I think it still hasn't quite balanced out, though it's slowly getting there; at the moment Sakura is falling for Naruto but it's mostly protective oh my god i hate it when you're hurt and she hasn't yet had much time getting used to loving him at that depth when he's normal. As for Sasuke his care and tenderness for Sakura is growing but it's not as violently immediate as his passion/addiction to Naruto. Mind he'd still choose Sakura in almost any situation but it's because as his rival Sasuke can't be openly nice to him or coddle him/sakura needs more assistance anyway, and also because of the baby.

Naruto is attached to both of them pretty equally, mostly because when he gets attached he does it all the way as a matter of course in the first place. XD

4) Damn, i'll never manage to write that ficlet with the explanation in it, it's been languishing for the last four years. Okay then, spoiling. XD

Anko is pretty free with sex, she doesn't see it as something to get stuck up over it feels nice yay let's have it. Now having been taught by Orochimaru, she's used to sneaking around and gathering all kinds of intel and suspecting the worst as a matter of course. It's not even something she sees as bad, it's just routine. So she couldn't even fathom that they hadn't found out or at the very least been told before that day that Kyuubi was in Naruto, so in her mind they'd been recklessly stupid, be it in failing to predict he could have that kind of effect (okay lack of imagination, not everyone likes to gross other people out with everything that could possibly go wrong in body-horror type ways, that's vaguely excusable), failing to notice the mood alteration and take steps to protect themselves -- it could have been ANYTHING, enemy genjutsu, drugs in order to attempt a kidnapping etcetera, or failing to use goddamn condoms. She didn't give a shit they'd had a fun and acrobatic team night, if she had a team she'd do it too, but in her mind they'd been recklessly, *criminally* negligent.

uhh it's all so interesting^^

do you plan on Sakura's parents finding out that Naruto and Sasuke are dating too? For that matter, do you think that those two will ever be able to be more affectionate with each other as they mellow out?

How would Naruto have told Sasuke and Sakura about Kyuubi if it hadn't happened the way it did?

and another follow up to 2) do you think that either of them would have moved on and found different partners? if so who? and what are Kakashi's thoughts on Sasuke's obsession with Naruto anyway, when he first noticed it (cause he must have noticed it before The Night)

affectionate, yeah, the Uchiha Aoru sequel had Sasuke asking Naruto out on a date in front of Kakashi and being pretty relaxed about it, i think it's fair to assume it means he relaxes as the years go by. XD

re: kyuubi i think by this point naruto was so used to not telling them that it would have needed some good reason to spit it out before he dared. So uh possibly when Akatsuki comes knocking. >__>;;;;;; (they'd have beaten him up for hiding it so long and decided they didn't really care.)

If Hinata ended things with Kiba Naruto might have given dating her a try. Otherwise he'd have gone out and met other people. Sakura might have started looking toward people she works with or maybe civilians. Sasuke would have stayed celibate until Itachi was dead, at which point he'd have started researching which clan he wanted to ally himself with who had an appropriately-aged daughter to marry off. No one from their little group, though, Naruto might give dating Ino a try but they might both have been bothered by her friendship with Sakura, idk, it might have make things weird. Otherwise they know the Konoha 12 too well by this point. XD

Kakashi thinks it's the last bastion of sasuke's hope/sanity and it might be unfair to put that on naruto's shoulders but if sasuke manages to sever this bond then kakashi know he'll cast away everything and leave, so... well, he knows it's here and that's why he trusts, contrary to the ANBU analysts, that Sasuke won't run off just yet, but he's careful not to *feel* anything about it either way. Though he's been glad when in the last year or so Sasuke started rebuilding bonds with Sakura and more normal interactions with Naruto and even semi-normal shallow social interaction with other people, that "hates but unable to discard" back-and-forth thing was unhealthy as fuck.

And oops right, that nejihinanaru thinger. Uhh. It's fairly angsty and I should have written it right away cause the bunny has kinda faded in my head a bit. ._____.;

that's totally fine...I probably would have skipped most of it anyway, because argh the angst it burns, but I was really looking forward to the sex to be honest. Because there is just not enough fic out there where other people just want to take care of Naruto (still waiting for more of Sasuke and Sakura ganging up on Naruto to really drive him out of his mind and show him how much they love and appreciate him sex in teamwork ^_^)

I already asked this in the past but, how on earth did the Hokage and Kakashi and the whole freakin' council KNOW that the three of them had had sex the first time? If they just happened to see them walking piss-drunk in the streets the night before, why did they only arrive the next morning? (unless it's a "that's how the story is" answer XD;)

I dunno about Sage mode, I forgot what I'd decided. *checks notes...* okay it doesn't show up in my notes. I might use it anyway at some point if I decide they need a powerup, idk.

I was thinking of Sakura getting Kakashi's ninja dogs, though, it'd be funny and Kakashi was kinda pouting in my head because he wanted someone to pass them on to damn it. XD Since Sasuke is never getting the snakes in this 'verse to complete the trio, I thought hey why not go all the way. It's not decided yet, though, just a passing thought.

Karin might meet them in passing, she's good at landing on her feet so when Orochimaru died she basically took whatever wasn't nailed down and wandered off to offer her services to someone else.

Suigetsu ran away when Itachi killed Orochimaru and is presumably back on his quest for the seven swords. They MIGHT cross paths. I dunno that he'd ping Sasuke especially or vice versa, since they don't have the "lived with and then survived orochimaru" thing to make them respect each other's badassitude and mental strength.

I think Juugo died in custody, he would have refused to escape when he could since he was so terrified of hurting people despite himself and no one who could control him was around.

Sakura adopting the dog summons makes a lot of sense. Kakashi's always focused on Sasuke and Naruto and this balances things out more between the team.

Though it probably won't happen, Suigetsu meetings Sasuke in this universe would be hilarious. They won't ping as much because they don't have that common background as before but I can see Suigetsu perving on Sasuke because 1) he's fiesty, 2) it causes chaos, 3) he's hot. Naruto would be all protective and wtf about it and Sakura would be all silently amused.

Did Jin remind Naruto of Haku at all?
How would Jin and Haku react if they ever met in some AU somewhere?
Would Anko ever consider teaching Sasuke some of Orochimaru's techniques?

You answering questions about Teamwork and getting into a Teamwork writing mood made me get into a Teamwork reading mood :)

So I went back and re-read Teamwork 1 and now I'm curious about something: Sasuke didn't seem surprised about his attraction to Naruto, didn't seem like he minded it and ddn't seem like he wanted to do anything about it; how did he feel about Naruto and what does he think about his attraction to Naruto?

More generally, what does he think about his sexuality?

And thinking that 'making out was never going to be better than training' and that 'High chakra levels always gave him something of a figurative hard-on' were his actual thoughts?

Sorry if that's too many questions or if you answered this somewhere else but the only thing I remember is you saying in a comment that Sasuke is attracted to anything powerful. If there's more about this in Teamwork 2 or 3 I really don't remember - it's been a while since I read them so I might not remember a lot of the details.

If it's ok I might come back with more questions in the following days.

A big thumbs-up to who sent you the first set of questions; and they were really interesting questions as well.

I love it when authors answer questions or give their opinion about their stories. I almost always like reading comments detailing their thought process or just giving extra information on the story and characters. That's one of the great things about fandom - how easily and naturally people interact and how close you can be to the creative process, from lurking to beta reading :)

Hey! ^__^ Oh man, Teamwork 1 is so old now. SO OLD. But anyway!

Sasuke is pretty much strength-sexual. Whether it's a girl or a guy doesn't matter, he's not interested unless you can beat him up, or at least stand your ground for a while. XD The thing is, he's also been telling himself since he reached puberty that it doesn't fucking matter what gets him hard (or what his father would have said about if if he'd found out), he won't let it distract him from his goal, which is killing Itachi and restoring his clan, and once Itachi is dead he'll marry for political connections and children. So, okay, he can masturbate because he has to because hormones will not shut up otherwise, and if he has to he might as well let himself daydream about stuff that actually pings him it doesn't mean anything and will NEVER HAPPEN ANYWAY.

Basically he tells himself it doesn't matter what he wants that runs contrary to his goals or to what his parents would have wanted/accepted and beating himself up over it would distract him and weaken his sense of purpose and so there's no reason to feel bad about it instead of just accepting it... so long as he doesn't actively try to get it.

Anyway, that was the plan. And then oops he's getting the family *before* killing Itachi. And also the guy he's been jerking off over for a couple years now (mind he also thought about other people, not just Naruto, but Naruto is massively important for other reasons than just growing up hot as well. XD) comes as a package deal with the baby and wife that he cannot let go, and he's been sloooowly getting sucked back into that team mindset noo he needs to stand on his own and... oh, family. gnn. Harpooned right in the feelings.

The guy is a walking mass of complexes. XD

(mind he also jerked off over Sakura -- teenager! hormones everywhere! -- but not because he was thinking of her strength, actually he was thinking of her just holding him gently and being tender and cocooning him and other -- urgh -- feelings stuff, and THOSE he was ashamed about and tried to forget in the morning and got grumpy all day after. Go figure. They made him feel like he'd given in to some kind of horrible mental weakness.)

Yes, except for the "figurative" that really doesn't need to be in there. XD Though he tries not to get actively aroused when he's fighting because it's a major distraction and makes moving around awkward as hell XD

Basically he's had a sort of kind of crush on the guy since ... probably their first chuunin exam (naruto, i want to fight you too = do you like me y/n in sasukeese), at least that's what he figures out, though it might have been earlier than that. It was all wound up in wanting Naruto's respect and feeling himself ridiculous for wanting it, and hating that Naruto kept pressing him and challenging him when he shouldn't have. It was all more friendship and pure rivalry than crush-like stuff until, uh, that's pretty fucked up, until Valley of the End. Actually.

Yup, Sasuke started officially thinking about how kissing Naruto and sticking his hand down his pants might be sorta nice *after* Naruto stuck a hand through his lung. :X

It was kind of full of self hatred and really unhealthy back then. Also all wound up into how Naruto had stopped him from leaving by force and Sasuke both hated him for that and was so grateful deep down and hated himself for feeling grateful and really really wanted Naruto to pin him down and kiss him and never ask Sasuke about whether that was alright because then it wouldn't be Sasuke's fault if he enjoyed it anyway if he couldn't leave either way, right, but that only worked as a justification if Naruto was *stronger* and Sasuke couldn't bear to accept that. Self-hatred everywhere in that boy woooo.

Even then the sexual/romantic component wasn't the biggest part of his bond toward Naruto, the rivalry was, but in his head it's all pretty entangled and all the parts feed off each other. And there's a part of him that admires and is grateful to Naruto in a very platonic, kid with a hero crush way, but like fuck he is mentioning this.

He doesn't like the idea of ever telling Naruto when he really started falling for him, because "You stuck your hand through my lung and then I knew you would kill me if I tried to leave again, and staying was a setback to my life goal but dying would have been a total failure and so I didn't *have* to leave and I didn't want to leave so... So yeah thanks for almost killing me in a fit of rage and possessiveness, best thing that ever happened to me."... yeah, that would probably destroy Naruto, and he knows it.

It's gonna come out anyway, of course, not fun if it doesn't XD

Sorry, ancillary question to this: So really, now that Sasuke knows that it wasn't just Naruto, it was Naruto with Kyuubi's help who stuck a hand through his lung, does he still love Naruto's strength?

Kyuubi might have influenced Naruto's emotions at this point but it was still Naruto's decision. That he was able to make that choice at all, no matter that it was under extreme emotional duress, is good enough for Sasuke. Besides now he's a bit less crazy with the need to leave everything behind, so he doesn't need a threat level quite as high. They do need to talk about that time, though. Naruto's been doing his best to pretend it hasn't happened since Sasuke refused to listen to him back in the day when he tried to apologize.

Yeah, Teamwork 1 is pretty old ^__^ but it doesn't really feel so. Your style has been good from the start and pretty constant throughout so there isn't this horrible clash between the first and last chapter that you usually see when someone has been writing for that long. It's like you had a mature style from the get-go (though I haven't read anything earlier than No Kunoichi and Teamwork 1). Plus the Teamwork verse is very well defined and pretty separate from canon ('canon-independent'?) so really Teamwork 1 doesn't feel old at all. Maybe from a fandom perspective - there was a freshness to the fandom back then that's given way to something more settled imo.

What you've said in your posts helps me understand teamwork!Sasuke better. He's... less repressed than how people usually write him. I think I like that. He's usually pretty exaggerated and I was so used to reading him like that I got confused over his normal reactions in Teamwork ^__^

That's touching and IC. I think manga!Sasuke had a lot of admiration for Naruto while he was still in Konoha. It was definitely there, though I'm not sure how important that is to him anymore or what he thinks of it (as of start of The Fourth Shinobi War - where I'm at with the manga).

though I'm not sure what would bother Naruto about that. too intense? too twisted?

I do have a couple of questions that I can ask now:

- I was rereading the dinner over at Sakura's parents and I'm very curious to know what each of her parents were thinking throughout the evening; what were their impressions of the boys and the whole situation? And I have to add I really like Yukihiro. He's one of the best OCs I've seen so far and he's such a likeable man.

- Sasuke's breakdown and vulnerability the evening he burned down his family home brought him very close to how I think he actually is. He knows it too. And he seems to know how much of what he does is just pretend. Does he really think shutting away what he feels and being so out of touch with himself is a mark of strength? Or am I being insensitive and that's something he needs to do to keep it together? Being so out of touch with yourself is such a glaring weakness, and he is completely aware of doing it. Does he do that because he honestly doesn't know it's weak and confuses it with being strong? Or he does know better but he's already doing the best he can and it would be asking too much of him to do more given what he's been through?
Maybe he's actually in control and not fooling himself at all. He's a smart guy after all, and resilient as well. I like that idea but it doesn't seem likely.

kinda off topic: it's incredibly irritating when people who take the manga (semi)seriously are condescending towards the characters like all the shit going on in Naruto is as simple as a walk in the park, 'how dare he leave the village?!?! if I had all my family murdered I'd totally have the strength to make all the right decisions'. *insert any variant of 'they are doing it wrong' here, especially 'why can't he just open up'... hmm... really? seriously?*
That's not what the second question is about. It's more about Sasuke's mindset and how he sees himself. I know it's not very clear but I've waited long enough to post and I doubt my thoughts on the issue will get any clearer any time soon, if at all hehe

Too "i hate myself for being able and willing to do that to you HAY GUILT THANKS FOR THE REMINDER". It's not a side of Naruto that Naruto likes or accepts, so knowing that Sasuke loves/craves/desires it is disturbing. The intensity is okay, it's the "but i almost killed you" that Naruto views like a betrayal he committed and Sasuke views like something he should thank him for.

it's funny because in the end they both come to the same conclusions. XD

-Yukihiro likes Naruto and approves of him, he thinks Naruto is a good person, but he REALLY thinks he should also get some manners because he wants his grandson to be polite and stuff. He's kinda hoping Sakura will fix that. He thinks Sasuke is a... very troubled young man but his daughter must see something good in him, and she's smart so it must be there, right? it can't be her imagination???

-Hana doesn't want to like Naruto but she does like him a little anyway, he's horribly charming and she's kinda trying to resent him over that XD She wants to like Sasuke but he's basically an asshole so the more she thinks about it the more she'd rather Sakura didn't go there, but at the same time Sasuke showed her that wounded/desperately caring in secret side and her romantic side is all "oooh dark&mysterious wounded warrior". Hey, Sakura had to get it from SOMEONE. >___>

Their thoughts on the whole situation are basically a lot of cringing on the inside, but Naruto and Sasuke have been wrapped up in scandals and gossip for years now and they've gotten used to not mentioning that to Sakura because she *will* take their side and get really defensive and they don't want her to cut them out of her life, which they aren't sure she might do if she got angry enough???

-Sasuke: Sasuke thinks what he feels that isn't related to his dead family and his living brother is basically irrelevant and a distraction. He does feel things, sometimes very strongly, but it's a distraction and he should be cutting out all distractions *only he can't* which frustrates him something awful. He doesn't think it's a mark of strength, he thinks it's a necessity. He's aware of what he represses or sacrifices, it's a very conscious effort/decision. It's because if he feels everything he wants/needs/just happens to feel he *cannot function*.

Of course he doesn't give much weight to the thought of letting himself break so the tension is gone and then slowly, carefully rebuilding himself into a more solid person. What he has now is workable and something he can use to kill Itachi with (who cares if he'll die afterwards), breaking down and rebuilding would take TIME, he might not manage to deal with his issues and might instead only succeed in bringing them all back up and then being an useless blubbering asshole whose nerves are shot to fuck, if he succeeds the person he emerges as might be entirely different (ufamiliar = personal danger) and not someone who can accomplish the same things/be willing to take the same risks (danger to life mission), and he might *forget how violently he wants to accomplish his goal!!!* which is a huge no.

Also he's punishing himself by clinging to his past, because he didn't die with them/didn't magically save them somehow and if he lets them go then he's killing them again. He's aware it's ... kind of not right, but he hates being aware of it, so he gets angry as fuck when that gets prodded, even accidentally.

The guy is a ball of issues shrapnel wound together around a bomb by one steadily eroding string. XD

I think in canon it was unavoidable that he'd leave eventually, if they didn't provide him with some magical "catch up to Itachi" forbidden jutsu, and let's face it there was no way they'd do that for an unstable thirteen year old with that kind of familial antecedents.

"You stuck your hand through my lung and then I knew you would kill me if I tried to leave again, and staying was a setback to my life goal but dying would have been a total failure and so I didn't *have* to leave and I didn't want to leave so... So yeah thanks for almost killing me in a fit of rage and possessiveness, best thing that ever happened to me."

This kind of makes a lot of sense to me, since Sasuke was/is feeling that he owes his family a "debt" and that he has to choose the path that'll lead to Itachi's eventual death no matter what he actually /wants/, and so having the choice taken away from him would be a relief because then he wouldn't be shirking his duty but also wouldn't have to leave.

Ah, I love the Teamwork dedication/questioning. It is nice that you are willing to indulge! Of course, when the opportunity to ask questions is presented in such a lovely way, anything I've ever wondered just jumps out the window.

Just a silly one, then. Relating to the wedding sidefic where Neji thinks everyone is a little in love with Naruto. Who would you say you could argue (or twist slightly, or whatever) to fit the thought, other than Hinata and Neji? I don't know if I mean by the time of the wedding, or at the current stopping point, so whichever works best! I just think it's so weird/funny/fascinating/NARUTO to think that Naruto would just not notice people pining away after him (exaggeration) but that a lot of people might be.

(And with the answered question above, I love the thought of Sasuke's surprisingly intense feelings coming out and startling the pants off of Naruto.)

Tenten would be v. open to the idea as well XD she thinks Naruto is fun and likeable and he grew up really cute.

Shino, idk, and Chouji, the only person he'd be gay for would be shikamaru, but he does have a soft spot for Naruto. Shino is just really awkward with people and it makes him emo when he can't get across to people he likes that he likes them and he hopes they like him back .___. he's mostly worrying about Hinata in this situation though.

Dah random NaruShika love moment. I can totally imagine a 'verse existing where Naruto (or Shika, or both) is/are in a relationship with other people, and it somehow comes out that he and Shikamaru had a THING in the past. And everyone is shocked because 1, either of them having a past at all, 2, them with each other, 3, them keeping this all a secret. Though I'm also content to imagine Shika sitting around thinking MOSTLY just that Naruto is impressive in general, and then having that faint nagging curiousity... I mean, canon Shika obviously paid attention to Naruto's feelings and understood him soooooo. *is in happy place* Would you believe they're NOT my OTP? I'm just a slut.

I read your Isuka POV prequel-y scene, and it made me wonder about something. How did Kakashi react to getting the summons (from the Isuka prequel)? Was he surprised at the three-way relationship that developed?

Kakashi reacted in a "oh hell not again" at first because some months it seems they have kyuubi "alerts" about every other sleepwalking incident, feels like, so at first he didn't take it super seriously. The relationship itself took him entirely by surprise (he really did wonder which of the three possible couples would happen first and break the other's heart, and he thinks it's an unorthodox but elegant solution when he's being logical and the rest of the time AAAAAAH MY KIDS DONT WANT TO KNOW THAT SUBPLOT IN ICHA BOOK TWO IS RUINED FOREVER.) at the same time he doesn't think a lot about how it's like inside the relationship, partly because creepy and partly because he doesn't want it to be his business, but more about how to do damage control re: outsiders' reactions to his kids, his kids fucking each other, the results of kids fucking, or anything containing the words kids and fucking in the same sentence because thinking about stfuing other people works way better for the purpose of stfuing his own brain than having to *think about it*. XD

I'm magical that way no I just happened not to be doing anything so I didn't forget your mail at the bottom of my inbox, which sometimes happen (mea culpa in advance, i'm very bad at keeping up a long correspondence)

I think the first time everyone kinda panicked and were on the edge of doing something dangerous like trying to cage or tackle him, and Kakashi was panicking inside because wtf was even going on but trying to look cool and like this wasn't so bad on the outside. He spent half the night tracking Naruto until Naruto ended up on Iruka's roof and Iruka managed to get him to settle down and go back to sleep. After that point when Naruto roams too much or in aggressive/hunting ways they bring Iruka out; Kakashi's dogs make Naruto growl a bit because foxes and dogs = :/ so they don't want to try to see if Kakashi could settle him down the same way, though when he's dogless he just washes the scent off real quick and some nights Naruto will let him roam with him, like a couple meters apart, he'll even come right up to him for a little hello sniff XD

Kakashi has been known to think in the privacy of his own mind that if Naruto gave Sasuke a good dicking maybe Sasuke would settle the hell down because the teenage hormones and "wahhh my crush doesn't notice me like that but i don't even WANT him to notice me like that anyway i hate him for making me feel that" were getting on his nerves. He was also fairly sure Naruto was 110% heterosexual, though. He kinda thought NaruSaku might be the safest (and most lukewarm) but the second Sasuke got jealous and snapped his fingers Sakura would come running because if Sasuke couldn't have Naruto then he might decide to ruin it for him, even accidentally/in a moment of rage, or draw away from the both of them and thus ruin the *team*, or SasuSaku might happen but for all the wrong reasons, because Sasuke was trapped there and oh fuck it she's willing and I'll never trust anyone else not to knife me while I come so why the hell not. Kakashi's opinions on his kids' relationships were all pretty grim. He was also most determinedly not taking a side. XD I mean, he REALLY doesn't have a high view of Sasuke's ability to form emotional attachments but the kid is still his favorite! (mostly because he understands all too well that type of damage)

Kakashi hasn't been shutting up people who merely report thing as they see them, even if they report with their own biases, because if he corrects someone's bias, immediately his own objectivity is questioned, and he can't afford that. He might have killing-intent'd at a few asshole who made really out of line comments. >___> he can't afford to beat up people over mere words either, it's not professional.

Well, he's good at keeping from getting distracted, and that'd be stupid around akatsuki members anyway, but underneath that iron control there was a lot of SHIT FUCK NO *MY KIDS, NO KILLING* sasuke is not moving and then a crapton of OH HELL KYUUBI, at least until he saw Naruto still answered to his name and was still conscious, after that he settled down because he really (not entirely consciously) has a lot of faith in Naruto's willpower and so long as he was awake he wasn't gonna let the fox win. (d'awww trust. XD he tries to be rational about it but ... nope, just has faith in Naruto by this point, even when he's not fully aware he's functioning on the assumption that of course Naruto can manage X.)

Kakashi figured Sasuke getting "it's not like i like you baka!!!" at Naruto and then the "iyaaa~n nooooo watch how ineffectually i fight you off now i can enjoy it without feeling guilty" would be a hell of a lot less damaging than Sasuke getting fed up and pouncing on a straight, uninterested Naruto, is all, and also that Naruto would have less of a kneejerk OH NOES NOW I HAVE TEH GHEYS if they kept the switching for later. The water barely shivers when Sasuke slides out of his seat, moves behind the blond. Two hands on Naruto's shoulders now, kneading and rubbing, a little too hard to be comfortable, and making absolutely no effort to avoid the marks he left, that still haven't disappeared.

For a moment, Naruto is tense, head lifted as if ready to turn around and question him on his motives. Or push him away. Or, god forbid, thank Sasuke for "being nice." But then he sighs and closes his eyes. He must be really, really tired... It's his fault for abusing Kage Bunshin so badly. Sasuke's hands slip under the water, make their way down his back.

Naruto doesn't react again until Sasuke's hands reach his hips. "What are you doing?" he asks, like he doesn't know.

Sasuke leans against his back, body to body, cheek pressed against wet blond hair. "I'm going to fuck you. You're going to like it. Now shut up."

Naruto, wonder of wonders, does. Sasuke leans back a little to frown at his bowed head, nonplussed.

Under the weight of his gaze Naruto squirms a little, but it's mostly so he can turn his face away from him. The tip of his visible ear is red.

"Oi." Sasuke pokes him in the ribs, feels Naruto's muscles twitch.

"What? I thought you wanted to top. So top."

He even adds in a fake yawn. Sasuke starts scowling. "You're not going to sneak by on a technicality, damn it."

Naruto tries to buck him off, halfheartedly. "I don't even know what that means!" But he sounds guilty.

"Coward."

Naruto rears back, harder this time. Water sloshes out of the pool. Sasuke hooks Naruto's ankle with his foot and leans on Naruto's back with all his weight, pushing him back down against the edge of the pool. An elbow bumps into his ribs; he was braced for it, though, and the water cushions the impact. He bites down on a shoulder, tightens his hold on Naruto's body until Naruto wheezes and his struggles slow down.

They weren't even fighting for real.

"Bastard," Naruto protests tiredly, panting.

"I'm not the one going 'Oh, you didn't really top me, I let you top me.'"

Naruto growls, but the loud and frantic denial Sasuke was poised to counter doesn't happen. "... Well." He mumbles under his breath, turning his face again. "I guess you did kinda ... win today's spar. Maybe. So."

Naruto's curious.

Sasuke often gets hard, when he fights with Naruto (not that he would ever tell him -- he wears loose pants for a reason) but this time it's not mere 'my blood is already flowing fast anyway and it just so happens he's hot when he's punching at me'.

Because he's being a coward, kinda, and also because it's the perfect way to get Naruto to react. For two people who are so different, they're also kind of really alike sometimes, wanting-not-wanting, though of course Sasuke has it down to an art form.

I like how Naruto really is entrusting himself, this experience, to Sasuke. And how Sasuke notices that that's what Naruto is doing. Also, Sasuke stating the obvious in the form of dirty talk is much approved of XD And also that this is a 'game', or maybe a challenge, that the aim of this particular thing is to make Naruto like it. It's so Sasuke, somehow, to think like that. Like it's a mission to be completed. Well, a mission with hot sex and disguised tenderness.
