I will probably redo this one -- did the colors fast and messy to have an idea of what went where. I gotta learn how to do underwater lights. Ugh. DX This is an illustration of a scene where they can't go back to the surface because they'd be seen -- problem is, Blue swims like a rock, and he's so OMG DROWNING D: that he'd hold on maybe thirty seconds before he drowns. Therefore, sharing air. (but actually I think the story will have Arun trying to share his breather instead since it makes a lot more sense. XD; It just didn't look as pretty.)



Oh, this morning I had an Arun/Blue lemonish bunny. Those two are really testing my resolve to let this story be gen. XD;

I'm not even sure the real story would allow this to happen, since the events don't seem to be linking up like that... It's more like a "timeline? what's that?" fanfic idea. XD;;;

But anyway, the two of them were hiding in Arun's sunken spaceship, not too long after Blue got a very nasty psychic shock. Blue, being the withdrawn, must-look-strong-and-stoic kind, of course doesn't say anything, but as the day goes by he's feeling more and more unbalanced. His connections to "his" people were torn out -- his empathy keeps trying to reach out and finding nothing, and the more he feels nothing and the more he can't help but obsess over it. It's spiralling out of control, until he ends up sitting in a dark corner and having a very quiet, very stealthy panic attack.

He needs to latch onto someone, but there's no one but Arun since Liadan is doing recon things -- and Arun is mind-blind. Unless Blue is touching him, he gets NOTHING from Arun.

... Somehow buttsex turned out to be the answer. (Okay, it's a pretty neat answer. u.u) Well actually it's ... not really so easy XD;; seeing as Arun is already twitchy at the idea of even touching Blue, and at the idea that someone he doesn't even like much would read his thoughts.

Anyway it's getting late and Arun doesn't see Blue coming back, so he goes to look for him, and finds him in his dark corner. Since he's a nice guy, once he manages to understand the problem, he allows Blue to touch his bare shoulder. Things slowly, awkwardly proceed from there. >_>;;;

In the end the sex is a lot less about desire than about Arun being worried that Blue is falling to pieces and Blue needing to feel anchored. ...Mentally. It's more for reassurance than anything else. Arun is like "... d'aw, it's weird and a little icky and stuff, but I don't like it when you're vulnerable because then I can't hate you with a clean conscience so let me protect you and be generally nice BUT TOMORROW IT WILL HAVE NEVER HAPPENED."

(by the way, arun tops. Kind of like...
Arun: Augh I'm not having sex with you I mean i'm sorry you're in pain but i'm not taking it up the ass just on the off-chance that it might help more than petting you.
Bue: ~__~ nnnghokay. *... opens an eye* *quirks an eyebrow* ... why do you assume that if we did it you'd be bottoming?
Arun: *splutterchoke* *gah!! I totally assumed he'd want me to bend over and submit and it sounds like i'm scared of it/think it's the natural order of things which means I really am the submissive one at least in potential argh damn it*
Blue: *ow brain ow. stop thinking so fast.* 'm a switch. It's the same for me either way.
Arun: ... oh well in that case! ... I'm still not gay. >_>;;;
Blue: *is convinced! actually doesn't give a shit because personally he's completely pansexual and doesn't get peope who aren't*)

But that wasn't a really interesting or likely bunny , more like an excuse to PWP. XD what I liked more was what came the morning after, when Liadan comes back.

Blue: *utterly normal, not-breaking down tone* hey, Liadan's back, wake up.
Arun: *blink* *naked in bed with Blue* *Blue who is back to being cold bastard Blue, not broken-help-me-Blue* ... DX GAH. *flail-- um no he's perfectly cool and collected, haha, look at how casually I get the hell out of that bed. Oh hey, clothes! Awesome. haha. gah. Oh so THAT's the ass I tapped yesterday get dressed already*
Blue: *secretly rolling his eyes a bit* *goes to flooded area to say hi to Liadan*
Liadan: *a bit confused to see how awkward Arun looks. She expected them to fight or ignore each other, so the awkwardness is strange.*
Arun: NOTHING IS GOING ON. No.
Liadan: ... >( (Merpeople have problems with liars -- if he' told her "I don't want to talk about it" she would have instantly dropped it and not even wondered too much about it. Sometimes, you just don't want to talk about random unimportant stuff. But to say "no, you're imagining things" when obviously there was SOMETHING...) ... is no true. *pouty scowl* *DISAPPOINTED*
Arun: *wilts* *but cannot admit he had teh ghey sex! Like, EVER! Especially not to his cute innocent little Liadan.*

*ten minutes of miming and trying to translate telepathy/empathy* *it comes up that the merpeople have a lot more words for that concept and listening with your ears =/= listening with your brain =/= happening to overhear with your ears =/= etcetera -- those aren't overlapping concepts for her, so it's weird that they can all use the same words in Arun's language and blahblah language geekery*

Liadan: Oh. Blue and Arun have sex? ^-^
Arun: ... DDDDDDX WHAT HOW -- I MEAN --
Liadan: *blinka* ô.o Sex is best medicine for mind-grief-tearing. Everyone know.
Arun: *whimper*
Liadan: I'm glad. ^-^ No more fighting now! So, lead male is who?

Blue: *oh look at that ... lamp. Thing. It needs to be fixed right now. Tadada~ ... snrk*

I had a quite vivid image of the inside of the ship as I imagined the scene, too, so that made it rather interesting. Dimmed lights, the floors tilted awkwardly, the mood from the psychological pressure of the water overhead, the flooded cargo bay with its floating containers and little emergency lights everywhere... Ultimately this scene goes nowhere, but I liked it anyway.


And ahhhh I am so sick and tired of my computer. Whenever I play a video, whetherI'm using Windows Media, Real Player, DivX or some of the half-dozen other players I downloaded in a fit of despair... The sound ALWAYS lags. Always. And now the image has started freezing and skipping too, as if i'm low on memory even though nothing else is running. Maybe it's a missing codec, but if so, I have no clue where to go to find the right ones. Maybe it's a hardware issue... but when I watch a video on Youtube, the synchronization is fine!

When I watched a video on Veoh it used to be fine too, but today I went to watch the shippuuden episode (Asuma's death!) and I got a trojan. Had to jump through a bazilion loops to get it out. Blinded by my desire to watch that friggin episode, I think, "maybe it was a coincidence!" and go back to Veoh... Yeah well I'm not returning a third time. I'm computer-stupid but not computer-retarded. DX

But now how the fuck do I fix my video players. Damn it. DX

Veoh gives you trojans? *makes a note not to go back there any more* As for the skipping, maybe you aren't playing them on the correct band-width? Are there any updates that you haven't downloaded?

Are all your plugins/software/codecs updated? I ran into sound synchronization issues a month or so ago when using divx player, but that was fixed after I updated and rebooted. Then I uninstalled divx, and a pile of codecs because I found Media Player Classic.

Media Player Classic (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Media_Player_Classic), + ffdshow (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow) = AWESOME. No bloated codecs eating up space on my computer.

I'd also suggest running some antivirus in case some bug is eating up your resources. I highly, totally recommend Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and/or Lavasoft's Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.com/).

I agree with all of this, but VLC player is also good.

And if you're experiencing slowdown in general, and have a laptop computer, you might want to invest in a can of compressed air. Even if you have a desktop, it's good to spray the computer out every once in a while. (Ignore me if you already do this. XD; They should really teach computer maintenance in school, but they don't, so I mention this to everyone.)

I enjoy the Sakura perspective one, that's a tough angle for me.
The Mermaids in Space pic is pretty~ water shading is something I don't know myself, though.. XD
Though I got confused at first with Liadan's figure, all that hair.... I thought she was a jellyfish for a second. But her paler skin colour helps set her out from the rest.

A) the piccy is pretty, but more practical to share a breather, unless Liadan touching Blue while feeling calm can help him out? Also, while the scene is fun and mostly easy to see, I like the story better gen. Love yaoi, but sometimes it's just not practical. However, did this scene help you get an image of the ship, or did you already pretty much know that's how it'd look?

Forgive me, but I love the concept of the second illustration very much, and I have a few thoughts that might help it along. I'd provide visual aid but as of now I am laptop-less.

A few points:

Break up the silhouettes; as the composition stands now the event is too muddled. If you're going for dynamic struggle-ness, use lighting to achieve it.

Underwater, and from the angle you seem to be aiming for, the shadows will be intensified because light doesn't translate that well.

Also, the characters should be backlit, and by this I mean a highlight should be applied to the rim of the figures.

Lianden's fin kinda looks like it is eating Blue's foot, so you might want to add a hint of the calf to help the eye understand what is going on.

Keep rockin' the art. ^^

I think Arun's flippers need to be quite a bit longer... a good 1/2 to 2/3 of the length of the foot itself, if I remember correctly, and the angle a bit narrower.

I love your Mermaids in SPACE stuff, but the more I read about Blue, the more it scares me. Srsly, it's like you're channeling me for your character. Except for the aptitude for all things mechanical and the mind powerz, and the fact that I'm not quite that antisocial, it's me. D: Which is pretty damn cool now that I think about it, but still.
