oceanica: Name any story I've written, and any character in it, canon or OC. I'll tell you three things about that character which I didn't put in the story.

Also today I'm writing GW things. I decided to scrape one Wufei POV scene I wrote and rewrite it as a Heero POV thing, but my lazy heart aches at the sight of so many words being deleted and that makes my progress rather slow. XD;

-He tried to make it as a lawfully employed young man, but it just isn't in him to deal with rules and regulations and paperwork.
-He likes the kids under his protection and for him they come before anything else. Because they don't have anyone else, and this is the real reason why he fought that war, so people with money and real lives would stop stepping on them.
-He was in love with Hilde back when he worked at her salvage yard, but he didn't want to ask her to ditch everything and come with him, and he couldn't stand to stay.

I like that you actually say Duo WAS in love with Hilde. They had a really sweet relationship in canon. Although I maintain that Hilde was disturbingly obsessive (or maybe the word is 'trusting' XDD) in a very unsuspecting/off-hand way... she gave up everything she'd been working towards to go with him after she'd known him for a ridiculously short amount of time. Her immediate latching onto him was by no means as freaky obsessive as Relena's to Heero but... then again Hilde didn't NEED to develop that level of obsession b/c Duo wasn't threatening to kill her every other episode and he accepted her as a companion (as opposed to our lone ranger).
Oops, got off track there. >_>
I am utterly in love with street rat Duo <3333

Anyway, seeing how feminine Hilde can be when on downtime, I have a feeling she wanted to be domestic (at least part time; the rest of the time she played with guns and heavy machinerie in a very sexay way u.u) I think this Duo, after the war and all that mess, he thought that was what he wanted, so since he loved her anyway he tried to settle down with her. And eventually he felt totally stifled by the routine and the lack of risks. They were still in love when they split, but neither of them was happy with how unhappy he was in that life, and Hilde did want to get married eventually and that wasn't going to happen, so it was better to end it before he started resenting her and she started feeling like a jailer. It kinda sucks.
Hilde's been tentatively dating again, but I'm not sure it's going very well right now. XD; Duo's too busy with other things. He doe have casual sex, but nothing more.

Hilde seemed awfully content with Duo when they were laying low... but who can fault the girl if she's got Duo to herself? *cough* >_> (although the scene that stands out the most to me during their play at domesticity was when those guys came poking around and Duo got downright pissed and demanded they leave *_* that boy is hot when he's fired up)
Er. Anyway. XD I like that you've given the Duo in your story the chance to settle down and that he chose to leave it. It seems like a natural, if sad, evolution to their relationship.

...I'm sure she can't find a suitable bf after she's had Duo >_>

XDDDD yeah, that's the problem. Of course it hurts when you break up because your BF is a total dick, but at least eventually you can get over him more easily. In that case though it wasn't anyone's fault. She thinks it would be easy for her to fall back in love with Duo, and while she doesn't want to since the issues that broke them up are still there, it doesn't make it easier on her other boyfriends. (Not that she's had a lot since then, maybe two.) Also, even though she wants to settle down and get married and blahblahblah, she also liked things in Duo that you can't find in just anyone, like his willingness to go out and fight for what he believed in, even if no one else did, or the fact that they had a shared past about the war and they both gave and risked a lot for their ideals. So yeah, it's only been a couple of years since they broke up, so eventually she knows it will go away, but right now she's still kinda sad about it sometimes.
