Manga blathering...
psst, http://www.onemanga.com/ is awesome.
Naruto:
Not a lot of interesting stuff happened... Okay, Kiba was funny, and also yay for DDD: faces from Naruto and Sakura about Sasuke. Hinata wasn't very cute with her veiny eyes ;.; and Kishi changed the way he draws Hyuuga eyes and I don't like it as much as the old one. But at least she did something! yay. I hope she gets to actually fight at some point.
+
Bleach:
... It's been getting so frigging BORING oh my god. The vaizard-in-the-past chapter was mildly interesting, at least. But the whole Aizen / karakura town thing is such a snoozefest. Auuugh. I swear I just keep reading because I want more Rukia and Orihime cuteness and I want to know if/when Kenpachi learns the name of his sword. By now I can't even care about Ichigo or anyone else anymore.
+
One Piece:
... bwahahaha. Okay, the enemy is lame, but the end joke cracked me up. I like that in One Piece, even when the plots get kinda repetitive, you can trust the cast to be absolutely cracktastic.
Still, the new crew members are coming in at such a rate and there's not enough character evolution from the old ones. In the end the cast is pretty static, once their character-defining/joining-the-crew arc is over with. *sigh* I should start reading it in big chunks again, chapter-by-chapter makes it more boring than it should be.
+
Katekyo Hitman Reborn:
... I like this ten years later arc. It's a lot darker than the previous ones, though the Xanxus arc had some pretty icky moments. I think that's because even though I know Tsuna will fix it eventually and the people who are currently dead won't die at all, right now they ARE dead and gone, and people mourn them.
I stopped reading this manga for so long -- I dislike tournament arcs, and I was prepared to see the fights last a bazilion years, so when lambo's fight started I just stopped reading and didn't start again. Man did I miss something. That's one thing I like in this manga, the fights never last more than three or four chapters, and everything that happened in the TYA arc... *__*
Another thing I like is the great number of hot guys in suspiciously intense friendships. *cough*
Also, I ship Mukuro/Hibari like burning. (kinda wish the only fic I found for the two of them didn't have fucking Hibari fucking crying over being fucking separated from fucking Mukuro. there are not enough WTFs in the world.) And Yamamoto/Hayato/Tsuna. ... Oh hell, the guardians should have a Tsuna-orgy. (except Lambo. Ew. >.>) (I am not trying to figure out a plot for this to happen, by the way. Nope.)
But the last chapter... oh god the fanservice. *fans self*
http://www.onemanga.com/Katekyo_Hitman_Reborn/187/05/ nnnnnnngh omgyes. My preciouss.
D.gray-man:
This is usually a manga I only follow casually -- I like some arcs, some others leave me indifferent. When they got home from the ark and the character with a Hitler mustache appeared, I was all confused about the characters and went all eww about the politics -- then there was all the fuss made over making Lenalee fight and Lenalee being all passive and emo and shit... Urgh.
And then she woke up and decided to fight for her own reasons and not because she felt obligated, and it was beautiful. And then Kanda and Rabi had this supporting-Allen moment that was also beautiful and should be iconned and written in a great many sex scenes. And then this latest chapter, Allen and Lenalee fighting in tandem, and oh. wow. Yes. T_______T
The previous couple of chapters totally made me tear up. Go Lenalee go.
... her new boots are kinda WTF though. XD
Other mangas i'm following at the moment:
http://www.onemanga.com/Alive_-_The_Final_Evolution/
"A high schooler named Taisuke Kanou is living with his older sister, Youko, after the death of his parents. He lives a relatively quiet life until a massive surge of suicides around the world known as the "Nightmare Week" begins."
There's a kind of "virus" going around which makes people want to kill themselves. A lot of them do. Those who don't call each other "comrades" and see the rest of the human race as something to be wiped out. Our hero doesn't -- or does he? -- but then, he seems to be a kind of failed comrade, himself. He's not the only one either -- the comrades may have evolved, but they can still have some human attachments and reactions that makes them more interesting than if they were just random psychopaths.
It's kinda dark, what with all the suicides, but I love the art and I really fucking LOVE the characters. Especially the hero. It's not so angsty you feel like moping and listening to Evanescence in the dark, it's the kind of angst where you cheer because the hero gets hurt and gets back up and keeps fighting, and there are cute and funny moments to lighten it up. It's incomplete right now of course, which makes me a sad asuka. ;_;
+
Berserk: It was taken off onemanga and I don't know where to start reading again. But it's fucking epic. Epic. I love it like burning. It's full of angst and gore and epicness. I'd say it's heroic fantasy, but it's so much more epic than that. The scope of this story, wow. *o*
Gokusen: hah, total change from Berserk. It's about the antics of a young, enthusiastic Yakuza-raised woman who becomes a school teacher in a school full of delinquents. It's hilarious and so cute. The drawings are so amateurish and yet I still love it. XD Also, I ship her with one of her students so hard. Nnnngh Shin/Yumiko ♥
http://www.onemanga.com/Gokusen/
The Hour of the Mice: Tense psychological/mystery thing. The hero and his friends live a comfortable, regular little life in a boarding school. They don't even remember seeing their parents, who they are told are important or busy or whatever else. The truth that slowly comes out is more sinister. Dun dun dunnnn.
http://www.onemanga.com/The_Hour_of_the_Mice/
I'm dropping anything Clamp from my reading list. I tried catching up for Fai and Kurogan's sake, but I just can't stomach the illogic and wangst anymore, especially when I've been told there's more coming my way. Also, I kinda hate Clamp's graphic style anyway. >_>;

You might want to check out Akumetsu on onemanga. Not sure of your taste, but you might like it.

I'm reading Akumetsu right now, still on second chapter. It's not bad so far, thanks for the rec ^^

Battle angel Alita. Not sure where I downloaded it, might have been eMule. I'm going to have to reread it again soon...
Fairy Tail. This one is also on onemanga. It reminds me a lot of One Piece. Check it.
On checking through my manga folder, I got hit by a few more names.
Air Gear. I've only read the first volume so far, but I’ve been thinking about reading it all.
Appleseed. Did you ever watch Ghost in the Shell? This one is set in a similar time, with similar technology. Different story though.
Grey. Not sure how to describe it. Combat, with the gritty side not ignored, I suppose. Post-apocalyptic. Very good story, worth reading for that alone.
Gunslinger Girl. This one is also worth a read.
Trigun. For the humor, maybe?
Vagabond. This one is pretty much a must-read. Probably a few pages for you to drool over in it too...

I started reading Fairy Tail and yes, it does remind me of One Piece too, but I dunno, the characters didn't grab me so I didn't continue. It felt like I'd read it before, even though I hadn't. >_>;;
Air Gear: I mostly like it for Akito/Agito. It's a fun series, but that character was shiny. XD Need to catch up though.
I think I watched Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell a few centuries ago when dinosaurs walked the Earth... *ponders*
Never heard of Grey, will have to look for it. Post-apocalyptic is sexy. *_*
Gunslinger Girl: I watched a few eps, never continued and I'm not sure why. It was an interesting premise.
Trigun: I know I would love Wolfwood if I ever got that far, but auuugh the art, I hates it. XDDD;;; *shallow like that* One day i'll try again, though. I want to read the end.
Uhuhuhu oh right, vagabond. It's got some pretty manly men in there, doesn't it? *_*

I think one of my favorite mangas recently is Ai-Ren. Ai-Ren's are humans made for the special purpose of helping terminal patients prepare for their deaths. As such, they only live a short time, themselves. It starts off a bit slow, and only about one terminal patient and his Ai-Ren, but it starts getting hard to put down at about chapter 5. Download here (http://www.mangaworld.org/projects/complete.html) if interested. It's actually quietly Sci-Fi, and it doesn't matter at first, and then the real work creeps up on them....

Ooh, i have to look into it now. *downloads!* thanks!

Enjoy! Watch out, that's one of the few mangas that makes me cry, no matter how many times I read certain chapters....

Oh, and have you ever read DOGS? It kind of seems like your manga, though maybe I'm assuming things xDDD

I did read Dogs. It was abandoned, wasn't it? Made me sad ;.;

Anything before that point you probably don't need, and I think the relevant cast should all be introduced in the first 20 chapters.

Also, I don't think DOGS was abandoned... Bullets and Carnage seems like it was updated in January, I think, but that just might be when it was posted on onemanga. It better not be abandoned. I'm head over heels in love with the characters ;__;

(Anonymous) 2008-03-31 05:57 am (UTC)(link)If you like Berserk, you might like Claymore, too. The styles are completely different, but it is also about monsters and slaughter and big-ass swords. Claire (the main character) isn't quite as awesome as Guts, but then, who is? Incidentally, the guy who did Claymore's last manga was Angel Densetsu, a pretty neat high school manga that in some ways reminds me of Gokusen, including the weak art.
CLAMP... I loved XxxHolic, but I just couldn't get into anything else they put out.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. I really like this one right now. As with most thngs, the manga's better than the anime. Srsly, DON'T WATCH THE ANIME. The plot-value is pretty much zilch, with its lack of anything resemebling a plot twist. It's really, really straightforward mystery stuff. But it's not the plot that gets me, it's the character interaction. Mostly humor/crack type stuff. A good example of what I mean is this:
http://www.onemanga.com/Majin_Tantei_Nougami_Neuro/1/025/
Also, the last panel with the glove-taking-off? It does things to me. Naughty things. But the plot holes. Gah. Neuro apparently eats mysteries. The mechanics of which are never explained. And all of the shape-shifting and demon-grah-D<-ing he does is never noticed by anyone. BUT PLOT HOLES. THERE ARE SO MANY PLOT HOLES. WHY. WHY MUST I TORTURE MYSELF SO? Oh well.

*clings to Tsubasa* Maybe it's because I only buy the volumes as they are released instead of reading it online, but I don't get the wangst overdose everyone seems to be complaining about. There's something to be said for actually waiting in between volumes. XD

Hi. I find your humor hilarious, dropped in once in a while for your Naruto crack, but am now quite happy to know that you're into Reborn.
At the risk of sounding like a total all-too-forward asshat, please to meet you? :D (p.s. the good fic does exist! You just kind of have to know which authors exactly, and/or slog through the copious amounts of junk? |D;)
