*whores self out*

Curse you, Heero. CURSE YOU.

I can't find my Endless Waltz DVD, I'm getting vague GW bunnies again (nothing definite enough to write with, but enough to make me distracted), and I don't want to have to rewatch the whole series again because I'm pretty sure huge chunks of it would bore me, but there's something telling me "hey, maybe you can kind of, you know, watch it with new eyes. Since falling into a fandom before you watched the show wasn't the best way to end up unbiased and unconfused on the timeline and all that."

I think I want to read GW fic again. Except, I still don't care about much of it. Just about Heero. I want more Heero. And possibly Wufei. Mayyyybe Duo if he's not handled like a hyperactive, girly idiot savant. And action/adventure/politics/gritty badassness. And preferably no AUs.

Also possibly AI gundams, newtypes, life in the colonies and other stuff like that.

And cloning. Clones are sexy.

No, I'm not difficult at all. -__-;;

Which reminds me that I still need to get my hands on Warchild by Karin Lowachee, because not only is it rumored to be good, but the main character is apparently the second coming of Heero Yuy and ahhhhhh I wantses it, preciousssssss. I'm pondering the merits of proposing a trade-off -- a picture for a book -- but I've got to think of the logistics first. (namely, is my laziness going to end up making the poor commissioner wait six months or more for their pic. It's a very distinct possibility. I'm notoriously unreliable like that. ~__~ Also I would hope no one familiar with my pictures would be silly enough to hope for a real background. XD)

But anyway. Anyone got some good, IC, Heero-centric plotfic to read that's recent enough I wouldn't have read it? (If it's more recent than Maldoror's last GW fic, I've probably read it...)

Man, I really need to finish GW someday. I loved the first 18 eps or so, I just...got distracted. D: But omg, I wanted more crazy Peacecraft family shenanigans, and Treize being a pimp, and Noin being a badass stalker. And I wanted to see how gay Quatre and Trowa were for each other. Why did I get distracted? D:

Relena had just gone to--what was it, Antarctica?--to stop Zechs and Heero from killing each other, and there was Family Drama and it was awesome; then the action mostly switched to Quatre and...Duo, was it? going out into space. And we'd recently seen Lady Une going all split-personality on us.

I need to go check if Wikipedia has episode-by-episode summaries, so I can remind myself of what was going down and start watching again.

Oh, GW. I've got yet another AU bunny that won't leave me alone but I managed to make a deal with it where it stays a one-shot until I finish something else. *bites lip*

I never read GW fic anymore? But I can't seem to stop writing it, and it's the only fic I write. I am one of many contributing to The Fandom That Just Won't Die. XD

No, I'm not difficult at all. -__-;;

hee. XD

lurker here... you may have read them, but Jei's Axiomatic and Additive Identity are good. (here (http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~jchew/misc/gw.html), under Really Damn Long One-shots.) Post series, and quite good. Just really damn long (Additive Identity is ~120K wordcount)

[identity profile] yira-heerai.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
XD Oh snap, I wish I would have read this before I link'd. :x I basically said the same thing XD;

You very welcome. Jei's stuff is fantabulous (she's one of the few GW authors I still follow) as long as you have the time to read it. I came to love and dread the posting of the gwyaoi.org Novella challenge as it meant two things: 1) new Jei fic of epic proportions and 2) I wasn't going to be sleeping/doing anything until I finished said Jei fic of epic proportions.

[livejournal.com profile] granate is still pretty active in the fandom... when her life's not beating her with a stick. Ummm... Recently, In Your Eyes updated for the first time in like a year. It focuses more on people using Relena to get to Heero.

OH OH OH. I KNOW. JESUS, WHY DID IT TAKE YOU SO LONG TO THINK OF THIS ONE, WOMAN?! ._.

Axiomatic (http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~jchew/misc/axiomatic01.html) and it's sequel Additive Identity (http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~jchew/misc/additiveidentity01.html). Very very long Heero-centric novellas written for the GWyaoi novella challenge. She does one every year. I don't know if she has links in the parts she's sliced them into, but you can find them on her main page (http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~jchew/misc/gw.html) if you scroll down a lot. She needs a better way to organize her stuff XD;

Seriously, though, I lost like a week of sleep reading that. >_> Zero, Heero, and a lot of mystery. Unf. ♥ I remember there were a few things that I hadn't liked about the sequel but I ended up reading the entire thing anyway.

I know diddly about GW, so I'm no help there, but Warchild is made of awesome. I read it back when it first came out, and like... worshipped it. Alot. O_o

Warchild

[identity profile] rahksin.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Um, I actually have that book, if you really want it. I'm not so concerned with getting a pic in return so fast (you do enough anyway XD), but yeah, I'd totally send it to whatever address you wanted, because I know just how awesome and droolworthy it is.

Of course, I live in the states, so it would take a while, but--the offer's there. consider this my payment for my free subscription to fiction-y goodness

Sure. XD

It totally didn't occur to me to think of postage costs for shipping across the Atlantic...^^;;

Oh well. I just hope you get the book, because it really is very, very good. I <3 Karin Lowachee, and Warchild has got to be her best work yet.

-_- Ummm I'm here to pimp, uh, myself. I know this makes me a bad person. Sorry. It's just that I might have something to fit the bill. New fic, in-timeline, centered around Heero, features awesome potty-mouth Duo, plenty of Gundam technology jargon, you only have to have seen through episode 20, and it's a one-shot so it's not a big commitment. Check it out (http://granate.livejournal.com/267633.html) if you feel like it.

just out of curiosity and if you have gotten the change to read it, how did you find warchild to be? i was just scrolling through some of your old fic entries and came across your post, and thought i'd also give lowachee's books a try--and liek OMG THANKIES SO MUCHIES for this post!!!!!

lowachee now pwns my soul (jos, i know you're heero in disguise; did you fall through a dimensional rift? XD)

(Anonymous) 2008-01-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
the second one has a different tone to it (traumatized rich boy instead of child soldier...), but lowachee still makes ryan a compelling character study as he struggles with a dysfunctional, absent (in more ways than one) family; i especially love how she handles the flashback scene ryan has during his first leap (is that the term she uses..?) on Mac. the pace for ryan's road to maturity felt lacking somehow (but that's just me!), but really, the entire book is well worth the read! i hope you'll enjoy it as much as the first and as much as i did. =)...i'm hunting the third book now...if you don't mind, do you happen to know where i might find an e-book of cagebird? my library system only has the first 2 books and i'd rather not have to buy the third book when i don't have the first two...

(ironically enough, the impressions i'm getting of yuri from the summary/reviews is of duo--my god, first heero, and now duuuooo?? lowachee, u must definately be a closet gw fan!)

(Anonymous) 2008-01-14 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
*asuka incognito* >.>

Yeah, the second one hits my buttons a little less. I'm not as far as the first leap, though, I don't think. XD Haven't started to read it again.

I don't have the third book, sadly. Much emo ensues. ;____;

(... gghhk i need this book. neeeeed.)

(Anonymous) 2008-01-14 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
i like the leap cuz we get to see the contrast of before and now for the azarcons...

too bad...;__;

you'll get a bit of yuri (who's really angst-oh noes abuse/trauma;_;-bad-ass duo) in burndive ^^ lol
