And of course, what I really want to do right now is to write vampirefic. =____=;;;; *loses* Thank god I don't have plot, so I'll wait for the urge to go away.

AND IN OTHER NEWS I had this interesting conversation with

hanyou_yoake about Uchiha sues and it resulted in us trying to figure out ways to make it so that there would BE other surviving Uchihas IN CANON, but in a plausible way. (mine is that old woman who left when she was young, accepting being made sterile just so she could be with her lover and out of Konoha without endangering the bloodline or risking being kidnapped. And she never had children of her own, and her man left her, and her life was hard with lots of manual labor, but she didn't come back because she'd gotten used to life out there in some quiet little rural village and had made her place, and in the end she adopted instead.)

Not sues or stus. No Mysterious Powerful Awesome Kickass characters -- just people. Normal ninja people who happened to be Uchihas, and survived. Anyone wanna try figuring one out? Even just a drabble. Hell, even just rambling about what could have happened and neat character concepts.

edit: okay, half-uchihas and bastard children are one of the ways to get at that. But it's still kinda cheating on the spirit of the challenge, IMHO. ;p Come on, people. Try it with real pure-blooded Uchiha people who were already born at the time of the massacre, too. XD

Nope, you're still cheating. u.u

The next thing Ruta remembers is being found--not by Itachi, but by a group of scavengers who have managed to slip past the police-nin who are not Uchihas. The blood has been dry for days and Ruta was sad to see it go because it was the only nourishment he could find, other than his own waste. His father told him once that in a pinch, a ninja could drink his own waste water to survive, and his mother said not to talk about such disgusting things while we're eating, thankyouverymuch, and his big sister laughed and teased him about how Ruta was so picky that he'd die before doing such a thing. He showed her, alright, by drinking her blood. He knows it was her blood he was drinking because he heard her fight and die right atop of the hidey hole. Itachi broke her, first in body and then in mind when he demanded to know where the rest of the family was. She eventually spun a tale about their father always being suspicious of him and sending Ruta away. It must have been convincing because Itachi didn't find him. Screaming through the pain of broken limbs and false emotions tends to do that.

So with the dying words of his sister echoing through his mind, Ruta blinked up at a grizzled face.

I am seeing Ruta being spirited away soon.

I am so live with this.

The last thing Ruta remembers is running, running, running through the forest with the hospital-nin just two steps behind. He's fast enough and smart enough to have fooled their medical devices, but not fast enough to completely escape their grasp. They've tied him up, booby-trapped his doors and windows, sealed him in white rooms, interrogated him in dark ones. The Hokage almost let him out to view the service, but one look at the boy who was Itachi's brother is enough to make him snap and claw at his minders again. He originally ran back towards his hole, but the ANBU were waiting for him there, so he veered left and onwards towards the forest. Trees whip past him as he doges the medicated kunai and shuriken. It's too much, it's too much, he just wants to be safe.

So with the frantic thoughts scrabbling through his head, Ruta miscalculates and slams head-first into a sturdy oak tree. Which is the very last thing he remembers.

Waking up on the cold ground with a lot of men with scary masks on and having no idea how he got there is the first thing that Fubito Kuroda remembers about the rest of his life.

And the Hokage spirits lil' Fubito away with some inactive guardians until the Itachi stituation goes into final play.

I wonder what the hell Tsunade thinks when she gets this report or if Danzou takes it away after the Third bites the dust.
