(no subject)

-Teamwork end of chapter 6
-series of Teamwork oneshots that go between T2 and T3
-Sakura's prequel that still doesn't have a name (suggestions?)
-OC-centric sidefics about the chuunins spying on Naruto

-Cyborg fic : Sasuke and Sakura and Kabuto at the hospital (half-done, to complete)
-Cyborg again : Neji stuff (a third-done, to complete)
-Cyborg prequel : Sasukebot and Kakashi

-porny narusasusaku thinger.

-Itachi/Sasuke genderbending porny thing (nnngh stuckness)

-Itachi, Sasuke, Shisui and Mysterious Cousin thinger (still need to think about the plot long and hard. I suck so hard at plot-driven stuff.)

-Space mermaidses~ (But first I have to detail the plot and flesh out the many, many characters I'll need for it. Nnngh.)

-Cercle (but my own main character ANNOYS AND BORES ME. Woe. How am I supposed to get to the shiny parts if I can't make myself write through that first.)

... did I forget anything?

And of course, what I really want to do right now is to write vampirefic. =____=;;;; *loses* Thank god I don't have plot, so I'll wait for the urge to go away.

AND IN OTHER NEWS I had this interesting conversation with [livejournal.com profile] hanyou_yoake about Uchiha sues and it resulted in us trying to figure out ways to make it so that there would BE other surviving Uchihas IN CANON, but in a plausible way. (mine is that old woman who left when she was young, accepting being made sterile just so she could be with her lover and out of Konoha without endangering the bloodline or risking being kidnapped. And she never had children of her own, and her man left her, and her life was hard with lots of manual labor, but she didn't come back because she'd gotten used to life out there in some quiet little rural village and had made her place, and in the end she adopted instead.)

Not sues or stus. No Mysterious Powerful Awesome Kickass characters -- just people. Normal ninja people who happened to be Uchihas, and survived. Anyone wanna try figuring one out? Even just a drabble. Hell, even just rambling about what could have happened and neat character concepts.

edit: okay, half-uchihas and bastard children are one of the ways to get at that. But it's still kinda cheating on the spirit of the challenge, IMHO. ;p Come on, people. Try it with real pure-blooded Uchiha people who were already born at the time of the massacre, too. XD

Well, hmm.

Hell, I just found out that my great-grandpa and his brother were the lost members of a family themselves. I mean, the family in Scotland isn't some big rich noble group or anything, but my grandpa and his brother came to America, and they never knew what happened.

And my great-great-uncle went west and we know he had a daughter, but we no nothing else about what happened, like if he had more kids, if she ever had kids, none of it.

And that was just the turn of the 1900s.

*is now pondering as well* Damnit.

[identity profile] valles-uf.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm.

Well, if Itachi wasn't up on the family gossip (and it doesn't really seem like his thing), then his 'kill off the clan' plan would have had to rely on the names in the family register and whoever happened to be unlucky enough to be living in the Uchiha Sector.

Seems reasonable to me that a clan the size the Uchiha were supposed to be would have a lot of fringes and by-blows mixed into the general population of Konoha. Of course, they would've been adopted or never allowed to leave if they were known to have the Sharingan or be carriers for same, but genetics is a tricky thing. What someone thinks their blood is isn't neccessarily so.

One other Uchiha? There'd have to be lots.

Ja, -n

I like your theory--mostly because there's one thing that's always bothered me about the "Itachi killed all the Uchiha except Sasuke that night" deal.

Seriously, all of them in a few hours at night? Why the heck was the entire clan in the village at the same time in their special Uchiha area? Weren't there Uchiha out on watch for the village? On missions? Who was on watch at the police station? Where is the reasoning for the entire clan being in one spot at the same time? Fugaku mentioned some clan meeting that Itachi and Shunsui "skipped," but did the Uchiha seriously have enough pull to be able to tell Sandaime that "Hey, no matter what kind of missions, no matter what crisis there is, all the Uchiha HAVE to be home on such-and-such a date, I don't care if the village is in mortal peril"?

I, personally, would love there to have been surviving Uchiha--that Itachi tracked down and slaughtered after taking care of everyone at home. All he would have needed were the mission assignments and he could've taken out anyone that had been outside the village.

So my vote is your theory about outcasts, plus the ones that had been out on missions. (I find the idea of Uchiha Bob trying to figure out why his little cousin is trying to kill him and his teammates rather amusing.)

As for needing to flesh out and plot things, may I suggest [livejournal.com profile] caer_awen? /pimpage

[identity profile] cindelius.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... theories? Most of mine relate back to the old days of the clan, way before Itachi came into the picture.

1) Oedipus without the mommy-issues. Or Snow White without the curse (take your pick). In such a proud clan, it wouldn't seem to be that big of a stretch to dispose of children who were born with a major birth defect (or perhaps born blind). Surely there was a mother/messenger/etc. out there who couldn't bear to kill the child and instead left it on the outskirts of the village for fate (whether it be death due to exposure to the elements or life due to a traveler passing by).

2) Members of the clan that existed before the Hyuuga-Uchiha split had some members who were either banned from their village or who sought a "cowardly freedom" by pursuing life outside of their familial restrictions (read: skipped town and started a new life elsewhere). There's no record of how long the seals have been used for control, so escape may have been an option. It's entirely possible that the genetic/chakra mutation that led to the Uchiha traits was taken with those individuals but that they chose a lifestyle that didn't employ the traits so as to go undiscovered by anyone searching from them. The result? A small line/bunch of non-ninjas who have untapped powers and live happily in ignorance far away from Konoha.

3) Illegitimate child not raised on the Uchiha compound. Even in the most noble of clans and royal families, one or two individuals throughout history end up fathering a child outside of marriage.

In other news ... am having entirely too much fun with the physical similarities between Snow White and some of the Uchiha clan.

You see, there was this girl. A Uchiha girl. Or this Uchiha guy. And she or he had an affair. And the baby resulting from the affair would've clearly not been up to Uchiha standards. Let's say it had blond hair. And no sign of ever having sharingan activity at all if they can test for that. but maybe the blond hair and bright blue eyes were enough.
So mommy or daddy picked the kid up and left before they could kill it and the unfaithful parent?
So there would've been a surviving Uchiha, but with no family tradition. Grew up like just another kid, no sharingan. A half breed.
Age the kid until no one wants to make it a Sue or Stu anymore. Say, 63. Wrinkles. Bad hip. Half deaf, running around with a walker going 'WHATCHALOOKINGAT?!'.

XD
You give fun challenges. *loves on you*

I see, [livejournal.com profile] cindelius just said that... just a lot more logical. DAMNIT. So much for my genius plan.

How I would go about resurrecting the Uchiha:

Illegimate child would be my choice - hey, what about a four-year-old? You know, mother was pregnant but didn't know it at the time of the assassination and then made DAMN sure to fudge the details. Chances are the Sharingan, if it activates, would be when Sasuke was about 20, and long after the "canon" Naruto is over.

Other options include situations relating to the Hyuuga/Uchiha split, possibilities of the Hyuuga re-breeding the Uchiha in a couple years (they did it once, it can be done again, and somehow Neji as the new head of the Uchiha just WORKS for me).

It's also possible that one of the super-secret ANBU might have been an Uchiha - you know, the ones that utterly submerge their identities. Maybe they'd been stricken from the clan records for some reason. This character would have to be at least thirty by the time the massacre happens, would more likely be in his forties or fifties.

There are a lot of things Ruta remembers about THE NIGHT, but what he remembers the most is the way the way blood sounds as it's dripping on the floor. It seeped through the tatami mat and down the fine crack between the floor boards over his head. When his nanny shoved him into the hidey-hole, she bade him to be good, and to be quiet, and to perform the breathing exercises that she'd taught him. So with the sounds of screaming and dying echoing throughout his house, Ruta breathed slowly, calmly, and steadily.

[identity profile] lyarrah.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Illigitamate Uchiha child, from a generation or two back. One of the guys fucked some civillian girl, and she had a son. But she didn't know who the father was for some reason or another. The kid decided not to become a ninja, and so their power never got to be enough to have Sharingan.

They grow up, have a kid, and that kid opts to become a ninja... And here we are, ten, twenty years after Itachi killed them all, with a third surviving Uchiha... Oops...

I've always figured that to be the best setup if you want someone with Sharingan who isn't Sasuke or Itachi's kid.

But generally, if I want any of the crap to be different, I just place things back to the time when everyone's parents were kids. You know, like people do with Harry Potter.

Because the original InoShikaChou is SO similar to the Mabudachi Trio or any of those fun things <3

[identity profile] iamfreak1313.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously the Illigitamate!Uchiha thing works. Another idea would be that one of the lesser Uchiha joined another clan through marriage. It would be a woman so the whole name thing makes her an Aburame or another random clan instead of Uchiha. She would still have been born an Uchiha but no longer technically part of the clan so she wouldn't have been there during the slaughter and could have been overlooked afterwards. (The idea is mostly my friend's, who runs our RP that kinda died. It's a modified version of Shino's mommy but she did manage find some iffy canon for it, though.)

Hope you don't mind random stalker lurker comments. ^^'

Other than the illegitamate route, if I'd like playing around with genetics and have a Uchiha from a far side-branch and some side-branch doesn't-even-have-a-byakugan Hyuuga had kids. The parents would have really diluted genes, so the odds would be bad, but if you could recreate the circumstances that originally created the sharingan and the Uchiha clan.
Of course, to be let go from both clans, the parents would have to have very little or no ability for the ninja arts. Any child would have to grow up in a different hidden village to have its potential revealed and to get training without getting claimed by either clan.

[identity profile] book-people.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmmm... Well, Konoha is a small village, all things considered, and there aren't many people for people in clans to marry that won't fuck with their blood-lines except people in the same clans and civilians. So say about five years before Itachi is born, there's this girl who's in the Uchiha clan but doesn't have sharingan (they can't all have it. Even traits that should be dominant don't appear every once in a while...). She's married off to someone in another clan (we'll say the Inuzuka for the sake of argument). Now, just because she doesn't have sharingan herself doesn't mean she isn't a carrier for sharingan, so she may have past the trait onto her kid, who she has when Itachi is, say eight. This kid would grow up an Inuzuka, not an Uchiha, so when Itachi goes on his mad rampage said kid is overlooked (after all, the mother isn't an Uchiha anymore and didn't have sharingan anyway). By the time sharingan surfaced, he/she'd probably be about fifteen (he/she doesn't need it after all, he/she's got a dog). Sasuke would be about three, four years older than him/her, and Itachi older than that, and once the Elders find out Inuzuka/Uchiha kiddie has sharingan, they're going to guard him/her with everything humanly imaginable because by now Sasuke's a missing-nin and it gives them an excuse to kill him if he isn't back yet or ignore him if he is.

And we have a Live Uchiha. *bows*

They told Uchiha Ichiro he had been lucky when he awoke in the hospital. He had survived Kyuubi no Youko. He would be able to talk to his family again, to get on with his life. Once he adjusted, that is.

But he'd never adjust. What good was a blinded, useless Uchiha?

He returned home a few weeks later, but refused to leave his house. His wife begged him to do more than sit around all day, but he was too ashamed of himself than to do more than drink tea and stare into space with his ruined eyes.

Soon rumors spread about the Kyuubi's new container, a baby boy. Ichiro only heard them from his wife, of course.

"If a baby can live with a demon inside of him, you can live without your eyes!" she had screamed at him. She had never pursued becoming a shinobi; she did not understand anything.

A year later she left him, and he left Konoha. He was Ogawa Taro now, stripped of any affiliation to his former life.

-

*shrug* Random idea that just popped into my mind. And it's probably riddled with errors. xD

[identity profile] book-people.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Pure-bloods. Hmmm... Well, we could still start with the above idea. The Uchiha that married outside the clan, I mean. Only this time, we'll make it to someone in another village. Um... we'll go with Suna. She was part of a private treaty between clans, not villages, to explain why it isn't recorded anywhere, and she wasn't a ninja because Uchiha have sharingan. Period.

Now, this Uchiha who married someone in Suna had a sibling, and this sibling had a really young kid. Maybe six? Anyway, the point is kiddie isn't even in Academy yet. So, kiddie is sent off to visit Auntie for a little while, as kiddies sometimes do. Then Auntie hears that Itachi murdered all the Uchihas in Konoha, and keeps kiddie. Maybe adopts him/her, so he/she doesn't have the last name of Uchiha. Hides him/her.

End result: Pure blood Uchiha who doesn't die and doesn't randomly go back to Konoha (he/she's a Suna-nin, after all...). In fact, nobody in Konoha even finds out about it for ages and ages, because no nins in their right minds would broadcast that they have one of the last members of a powerful bloodline in their midst, for fear of someone or Itachi coming for him/her. When they finally do find out, kiddie is now married with the ninja equivalent of 3.5 kiddies of his/her own, and no longer Sue material.

The news of the massacre reach the Water Country too soon. Konoha envoys spread as soon as they possibly can searching for survivors. They mostly find missing shinobi who should be there, who would have to be there.

Over the inn where spy Uchiha Natsu and his wife were staying, the inn-caretaker seems frantic as he looks towards the two newborns that his customers had paid him to take care for a few days until they came back. The road, they had said, was too dangerous for two children as small as Kotaro and Koyuki.

"They asked me to take care of them, since they were going to the Village of the Mist to pick up something," he thinks, pacing as his eyes keep looking at the sleeping newborn twins. "They paid me extra, but that was more than a week ago and they've not come back yet. Oh, what to do, what to do..."

One of them, Koyuki, starts crying just then. His wife sighs and stands up, picks up the baby and the bottle of milk.

"Take care of them, of course."

... and damn, does this bring me back that crazy wish to crossover HunterxHunter and Naruto. The Kurata being a strained branch of the Uchiha...

You already know my take on this... :-)

[identity profile] wylde-akasha.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
You could always go with an Uchiha sent on a high ranked mission, went missing and is presumed dead since the mission wasn't completed. However, this Uchiha, while not dead, is crippled in some way that makes being a ninja impossible and rather than return to his/her clan in shame, s/he allows his/her name to 'die' assumes a new identity and possibly one day has a family.

[identity profile] anowack.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
An Uchiha was out on a mission during the massacre; if we assume Itachi went hunting for such people or that the whole clan was in the village for some reason, s/he was long overdue and assumed dead. When the Uchiha got out of whatever nasty situation was involved, s/he discovered about the massacre and decided it was best to just disappear and make sure no one suspected his or her survival.

A similar way is for someone - the Cloud maybe, since they've shown an interest in that sort of thing - to have successfully captured an Uchiha while making sure he or she was officially declared dead. Itachi's not omniscient; unless he's lucky he'd never find out about that person. That gives you one, and a breeding program gives you an arbitrary number of additional "Uchiha" if needed.

What about your story where Naruto is the container of Kyuubi, who is the god of fire country? I remember there was the cutest picture of Sakura as a filly posted somewhere.

Glad you liked it!

I'm kind of tempted to come up with an actual story to use it in, even though I've already got too much to write on my plate. The idea of combining it with an AU where the kidnapping of Hinata is successful is sort of appealing, though throwing both premises in there separately seems a little ungraceful unless I can come up with an elegant way for the earlier Uchiha kidnapping to somehow cause the success of the Hinata kidnapping... which would probably be doable, but would take a little work to handle well.

Hmm. I should probably stop thinking about it before I wind up writing it... ;)

Nine weeks to make her a wife, finally settling into the rhythm and routine of village life and waking to warm breath on her neck instead of the a crowing cock. Nearly too many unpacked boxes, small adjustments, and stealth kisses before the baker's shout of 'Uchiha-san' stopped making her automatically look for her mother-in-law.

It took only nine days to make her a widow.

All it took was an impromptu trip to the farm to see her parents, pick up a few left behind knickknacks, catch a ride back to Konoha on the back of a hay wagon, miss the slaughter and be in time to bury her husband, mother-in-law, and two hundred and seventy-nine other relatives she barely could name.

And Yuusuke always teased she had no sense of timing.

She flees as soon she can, as quick as the questions, condolences, and a pack mule will allow. She doesn’t stop until the forest gives away to seaside and no one knows her as anyone but old lady Nodoka’s niece from up north and ninja are nothing but one of the games the village children play.

Nine months to make her whole and he is small, squirming, and completely perfect. She names him in part for his father because that is the only bit of Uchiha Yuusuke she dare give her son.

She refuses to see other name engraved on that stone.

I had the same thoughts a year ago when Sasuke did his turncoat trick in the manga. My sister and I played with the idea that having fellow surviors would have given Sasuke more of a chance of not going Dark Side. Then my sis suggested having Sasuke fill the nisan role and the idea exploded.

She is a young country bride that moved to Konoha following a whirlwind courtship, gets overlooked in the massacure, then hides out and raises her son in ignorance of his hertiage. The little boy, Yuuta, is only six around the timeskip.
