whee, spamspamspam.

In other news, i've been wasting my whole afternoon reading this gal's One Piece fics and laughing and squeeing my ass off.

It's been a while since I found Naruto fic that delighted me so much, made it all seem new and shiny again. That's mostly because I'm not looking, because I'm a total elitist and I've been burned many times and now it's easier to not look. Also I spend too long with fellow piss-and-moan-ers over at [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants, and though I do love it there, being surrounded by deliciously snarktastic negative views doesn't help me keep an open mind when I think about starting to hunt for fic without a rec. And then I don't go to hunt on my own. Because I'm already thinking to myself "it's not going to be worth it", and that's not the right attitude to have if one wishes to have fun with fandom.

I'm already trying to tell myself I'm not gonna write for One Piece. SLIPPERY SLOPE AHOY. That's how I got out of Gundam Wing and into Naruto.

*sigh* maybe I have too many expectations of what a good Naruto fic should be. Maybe I'm just too lazy and expecting too much of my F-list.

this is not at all a thinly veiled plot to get you people to find me or write me good, shiny new naruto stuff. At all. Noooo. Would I ever do that? 9________9

I need to find new writers who make me go "ohh". I really, really need to.

I wish I could help. Unfortunately, I've been sort of "meh" on Naruto for a long while myself. I'll force myself to finish "Spiral Out," because I've already put so much effort into it and it wouldn't be fair to let it die now, but I don't know how much more I'll do for the fandom. Maybe finish my [livejournal.com profile] 30_kisses claim for SasuSaku? I dunno.

The perils of being multifandom. There are about ten other fandoms that I want to write cool things for, but "Spiral Out" looms and makes me feel guilty whenever I think of doing so. ;;;;

Have you read anything by lokogato-sama? There is awesome Team Seven, NaruSasu and Kakashi fic there. Like:

*grins* See, this is part of the reason I never end up finishing and posting any fic I write. Because I am one of those piss-and-moan-ers in fandom, if not on fanficrants, and I'm always looking at my stuff and going "...this sucks, doesn't it?" The end result being I never get concrit and never get better. *shrugs sheepishly* Plus it pisses me off when writers don't finish their fics, and I don't want to do that to people. ^_^; It makes me wonder if perhaps there are so few good fics in fandom because the vast majority of writers who post don't care if what they post is terrible, while those who give a damn don't necessarily take the chance, because they do care if they subject their fellow readers to crap.

That's part of why I don't write fanfic1 myself. I've had a few urges to try it since I finished NaNo (I hit 50,012 words and writers block at the same time, joy) but nothing that said "write me NOW, bitch!" so they've been easy to ignore.

What I should be doing is buckling down to fix the problems with my NaNo and finishing it, so of course I'm getting fanfic plunnies. :P

1. I don't count my handful of precisely-100-words drabbles as fanfic. I can't make myself be impressed with 100 words of fic.

*de-lurks*

(Wandered over here from FF.net - Crossed Wires ftw! - hope you don't mind! :D)

Have you read any of Gokkayu's fics (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1084947/)? They're excellent. She has NaruSasu, KakaSasu, ItaSasu (plus a few others) and some oneshots. She's also on lj ([livejournal.com profile] gokkayu), but most of her fics are on FF.net. I reccomend them all. Also, have you read Speces Vulpus (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3052270/1/)? You probably have, but it's so awesome I'll rec it anyway.^^
Ciao!

Whoa &___& Someone rec'd my joint-ficcy!!!

*is utterly pleased*

Hopefully, after all our RL-angst-problems are sorted out, Liz and I will be able to release the second and third chappie to our fans: Fear not! We WILL get around to releasing them, just... when we're more sane ^^

Thanks again for the rec! *goes to share the news of a fic-rec with Liz*

Simply because it was updated today...if you don't mind AU's, "Team 8" by S'TarKan is brillant, though not if you're looking for smex, and the only relationship in there is some cute Naruto and Hinata... Otherwise it's rich.

IT KILLS ME INTO TEARS.

hey asuka.

I'm sorry you've been feeling the lack of fanfiction awesomeness. I think you might like this author, FireFly. Her work, both drama and comedy, are deffinetly your style. She totally got me sucked into her writings. (and the hidan fandom. Now theres a fandom i never thought i would be into.)

Here's the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/17903/

i hope this helps?

[identity profile] heron-advocate.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
The fic that really keeps me attached to Naruto fic is [livejournal.com profile] des_butterfly's stuff. And [livejournal.com profile] infinitefirefly's, too--especially if it has Hidan in it (which it usually does). ♥

[identity profile] des-butterfly.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
*blushy blush* I don't even write most of your pairing favourites, hon. XD

Complete agreement on infinitefirefly, btw. That newest thing with Hidan and Itachi? COMPLETE GOLD.

[identity profile] teruame.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not quite sure what kind of expectations you have for in a fanfic, and it's for this reason why I'm rather hesitant on what I can recommend to you. It sure doesn't help that our tastes are so different ^_^.

So, basically, here's a list of fanfics that don't involve pairings. I regret to tell you, though, that they aren't quite new...and I just hope that I'm not giving you something you've already seen before. :S

You know that this is totally what that crazy dream of yours meant, right? The virus is one piece, the woman is the chick that got you into watching the anime, and your the guy on the train that coffs at the end. Pretty soon the disease will run its course, your brain will melt, you'll write a no doubt brilliantly crafted One Piece fiction, and then you'll inspire US to do the same thing....

[identity profile] icedark-elf.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
*sucks, but offers to write something for you anyway*

Tell me that the idea for Naruto zoofic is a dumb one, please?

Somewhere on Naruto_ot3 there was an excellent Narunejihina. Had some sadness and what not, but it was well written and ended well. I think it coined the phrase "idiot shaped hole in the wall", if that helps.

There's nothing wrong with expecting something good, or great, but you shouldn't narrow your focus. You'll never be able to find anything. I look for complete things and I judge by the first paragraph or so if I can put up with the inescapable grammer and spelling errors. Last but not least I decide if I prefer the main pairing, and since I'm a kinky slut, mostly anything smut pleases me. To be fair, you got lucky, because all the smut in The Night hooked me (aff version). SO...that's what I recommend, and I might pass out and bitch if you fall out of Naruto and into One Piece without finishing at least Teamwork Two if not Teamwork Three as well.

That's what I have to say on the matter. (grins)

[identity profile] leiral.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thinking about sending you a link to the worst story ever wriiten and I mean ever. But know that if I send it to you, you'll curse me and end up tearing your eyes out and quitting fanfiction of any type or form forever. Yes it is that bad the icon I'm using came from a line in that story.

I'm a little late for posting this, but

I read a lot. Basically, everything (except slash! Oh My gawd, I know, the shame! But you corrected me on that =D). I, for one, recommend you this author:

Istoria: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/56504/

Her fic 'Silent Hill'? *love it*. She doesn't focus on a pairing, more like friendship.

She describes a Konoha submerged in old laws and the interactions of clans in the fics 'A golden Grey Mourning' and 'Birds of a Feather' are fantastic. She's working on other projects 'Kunoichi in the City' and I love the characterizations of Ino and Sakura xD

I really can't describe very well (this post is giving me so much trouble, I need more practice!) and I hope you enjoy this recommendation =D
