The naruto forums amuse the hell out of me.
Before it was "OMG Sai is Sasuke!!!"
Now it's "OMG Sasuke is the Sound spy they're gonna meet!!"
XD do these people even think? Why the hell would Sasuke spit on everything he's given up to reach his life goal by betraying Oro now, before he's strong enough -- and to help his brother's friends?
Besides where would he know Sasori from? Okay they could have met, but it's more likely that Sasori's spy would be someone from his village, and/or someone he would have some sway over.
If Sasuke IS at the rendezvous point, he will more likely be there as part of the cleanup crew to get rid of the spy, or something like that.Kishimoto, if you decide to make me look stupid by making Sasuke the spy, give him a really really good reason plzkthnxbai.
I swear, they want Sasuke so bad, they see him henge'd in the most random background characters. Hey, that unknown woman with Tsunade (not shizune) had black hair, she must be Sasuke in disguise!! =____=;
... but fuck, i miss him too T_T sasukeeeee... come back and beat up Sai for hitting on Naruto... and then Sakura can beat you up for being an ass and you can have team cuddles and stuff and waahhhh TT_TT

I just hope that doesn't mean they peed themselves or something. Because then that's even worse. PLEASE BE NOT TELLING PEOPLE SUCH THINGS! WE DO NOT WANT TO KNOW YOU MADE AN 'UH-OH'!
And yes, I repeat my hope that this is a female reviewer. Otherwise...it doesn't really bear thinking about, now does it?

I know some people really freak out at reviews like that, but I find them oddly amusing even if it is TMI.
Of course, I've never received one, so I might change my mind if I ever do. Probably not, though. XDno subject

Sasukeeeeeeee, why have you forsaken us? We love you so muuuuuuch! *weeps* We'd do anything to have yo--er, maybe that's why he's staying away. o.o He does hate fangirls...
OKAY! FROM THIS MOMENT ON, I WILL NEVER FANGIRL SASUKE AGAIN! It is my NINDO! Y'know, if I was a shinobi. Er, and I'm totally lying... but Sasuke doesn't have to know that!

I mean, everyone else knows about the three years and what's going to happen, but we don't actually know if Sasuke knows about it. But if he does, damn, I'm certain he's been counting off the days. I'm not quite sure how this would translate into him helping the organization that his brother's a part of, but then again, Sasuke's thought process has not always been the most linear of things.
(I want him to be the spy because I need Sasuke to be making a step to break away to continue to like him. If he has to be literally dragged back to Konoha by his teammates, rather than him making his own effort to get out of Oto and on his way to vengence or whatever, then I'm going to lose respect for him. A lot of respect. And wonder if I understood his character much at all.)

If he's the spy, it better be a goddamn good reason, but there are other ways in which he can start going back home on his own. Besides, I have a feeling getting Sasuke back will be a long, hard road -- it feels like the climax of the whole series, really, not only the spy subplot. Having him already about to leave Orochimaru would cut the series short. ^^;

The info trade could work, but yeah, there's stil the whole "why how where did they even meet" bit. It probably is a former Sand shinobi there (we've had plenty of new characters so far, what's one more), considering how a good chunk of Oto seems to be composed of shinobi he's collected.
It'd still be nice if it was Kabuto, if it isn't going to be Sasuke, though. I miss Kabuto. I wanna see how he's grown up. ;_;

I'd love to see a confrontation between Sasuke and Sai. It'd be Kenshin and Soujiro all over again only with kunai instead of swords.
And the Ninja kick-ass factor, of course...
We love mysteries...
(Anonymous) 2005-12-15 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)That said - Sasuke? Working for Akatsuki? ... ... ... ... ... Yeah. Riiiiight. A little common sense here, people...
...Random thought. Sasuke gets chewed out for trying to use Chidori on Naruto when they're fighting on top of the hospital. How come Naruto doesn't get chewed out for using Rasengan? (And let me point out the relative damage that each attack did.) And to top it off, Naruto pulls out the big guns FIRST in that fight...

...Of course, I'm also still laughing my ass off at all the people who are saying, "OMG!! The Akatsuki leader MUST be Yondaime, because they both have spiky hair!!111!" Because it's not like, y'know, half the characters in this series don't have spiky hair.

As you can probably tell, I lost ALOT of respect for Sasuke just when he betrayed everyone. But then, I'm kinda picky about loyalty and bonds and such. Always have been.
This is why I mainly read fanfiction these days.
As an above reader said, yes, Naruto did pull out the big guns first, but you want to know why he didn't get chewed out for using Rasengan?
Because unlike Chidori, Rasengan can be used as a blunt weapon, as Jiraiya showed at the very debut of the move, what's more, Naruto is much more responsible than Sasuke and doesn't have an attitude/I'm an avenger problem.
Yes, yes, Sasuke is nice, and dark, and angsty and smexy and all that.. but I'll never really agree with the Fangirling that goes over him. At least this group of fangirls. (That being the people who hang out around Asuka) Are intelligent. Not dim-witted twits like so many others. So kudos to the rest of you.
Anyway, back to my point. Truely, a part of me wants to see Sasuke dead, just because it would make sense in a world full of death (Hell, a Shinobi's BUSINESS is dealing out death, in case everyone else has forgotten. A ninja's only purpose in feudal times japan was to kill the people they were paid to kill.) because the little bastard would deserve it for betraying everyone who cared for him, loved him even, all for the sake of revenge for an act that happend (Three, four years ago when he dissapears?. I say all this because I really can't see Sasuke turning back on his own. I can't see him betraying Oto until he's killed his brother, and if you haven't noticed.. that hasn't happend yet, it'd be a big arc in the series.
So yeah, I dislike Sasuke, who figured? But I'm not going to call the rest of you idiots for liking him, it's merely my opinion.
Ah, sou?
(Anonymous) 2005-12-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)The friendship bit, for one thing - I'd say that, for Sasuke's character, friendship DID win in the end. I don't think he was trying to kill Naruto at the hospital, so much as he got caught up in the fight and just wanted to WIN, and pulled out the best weapon he had. And when he WAS trying to kill Naruto in the battle at the border, he ended up choosing not to do so. The problem with the friendship bit is that in this case, it's coming up against another part of his character, which is that when Sasuke decides on a course of action, he generally insists on carrying through with it. He made his decision to leave. End of discussion.
Meh, it would be a long debate, and there's no need to get too much into it.
About Chidori against Rasengan - I don't remember the bit about the 'blunt weapon' demonstration, but compare the damage done. Sasuke's Chidori seriously dents the tank and punches a small hole in it. Naruto's Rasengan blasts the top off of his tank. Can we say 'overkill'?
Sasuke does turn his back on his friends because of revenge - although consider that when his choice was made, he was simply leaving, not abandoning the people who come after him to try to save him. Once he's left, the bridge has been burned and, by his character, he CAN'T go back. With that said, however, one need also bear in mind that if he turns his back on his revenge, he's turning his back on his family and everything that's guided him since that day. If he gives up on it or gets distracted from it, then in a very real way he isn't HIMSELF anymore.
Sasuke's goal may be much darker than Naruto's, but he is just as devoted to it. Sasuke giving up on his aim to kill Itachi would be the same as Naruto giving up on his aim of becoming Hokage. Or Lee giving up on being a ninja!
Quick note: I'd say that there IS a possibility that Sasuke will ditch Orochimaru. He's willing to use Orochimaru in order to grow stronger, but there's no loyalty there. (unless you want to go the cop-out method and claim that the curse seal will take care of that, which then leads into the REALLY cop-out attempts to explain his desertion as being 'all du to teh pOweR of MiNd CntRl!') It seems exceedingly out of character for him to just hang around and let himself be possessed, anyway, given that the whole mess started so that he could be strong enough to fight Itachi. So if he were to get a hint of Orochimaru about to move in, he would probably move OUT.
*shrugs* And it has been almost three years. People do change - maybe he's grown up some and recognized his mistake (although admitting to it may be another issue). Who knows?
Disclaimer: I'm not saying I approve of his decisions, by the way - if you ask me, they were damn stupid. With that said - I do see where the poor bastard is coming from.
I do have to say that I can't see him going back to Konoha, at least not of his own accord. It would be too much like turning back or giving up. But not going back is not the same thing as staying where he is, either.
*laughs sheepishly* Sorry, went into debate-mode there. I tried to cut a few arguments out, though. As I said earlier, I have something of a fascination for 'fallen' characters, or at least the ones who manage to fall and then pull themselves back out of it. So I'm currently trying to withhold judgment on Sasuke, until we find out what, exactly, is happening to him.
*looks at the length of her reply and winces* Um... all apologies about the pontification... Getting me typing is usually a bad idea, because I think with my fingers and my fingers think too much. ...^^;

1) who said Naruto wasn't chewed out for using the rasengan? Maybe it happened offscreen. Or later. or maybe Naruto already was expressing regret over letting his desire to win get the best of him -- which Sasuke didn't, because Sasuke doesn't like to admit that he's wrong. But that stuff about "blunt weapon"? Bullshit. Naruto doesn't have half the control over the rasengan needed to make sure he uses it as cleanly as Jiraiya did. Blunt or not, seeing the way the metal was all torn up? Sasuke's body wouldn't have resisted any better if it had connected.
2) newsflash: I DO fangirl him. I know exactly what he's done, and why, and I know perfectly well that he made the wrong choices for his own selfish reasons -- and I still love him for that, for being a complex tangle of impulses and motives and single-minded determination, and selfish and a prickly bastard. And yes, yes, also for being pretty. So apparently I'm a dimwitted twit. Well gee, thanks a lot.
3) He has lost everything. His family, his whole clan, his big brother has lied to him all along, pretended to love him and then turned around and committed the most horrible act of betrayal. And Sasuke can't let go of the past. And we would all love to see him be noble and selfless and letting go of his dark emotions and forgive and forget, but a) his clan is dead. And Itachi is still out here, waiting for him to come after him.
b) he has known Kakashi and Sakura and Naruto what, a year? less? And you expect him to put them before his clan.
c)He's 13. THIRTEEN. You expect him to make calm, rational decisions?
And tons of other circumstances.
You might think that doesn't justify it. No, maybe it doesn't. But Sasuke doesn't care. He knows it's frowned upon to follow your darker impulses, and he gives into it anyway -- and even then, he doesn't kill Naruto. It would have been faster. He just leaves. So yeah, he abandons them. But there's a difference between abandoning them and entirely turning against them.
You might still think it's despicable. Okay, that's your right. But it doesn't take away from the fact that Sasuke is a complex character, and that some of us might find what you hate fascinating, and that calling people who are still fans of his character mindless fangirls, as if we couldn't SEE what he's done, is an insult.
Yes, we know what he's done, and why. And we still like him. We like fucked up, dark characters. That is our taste, and our right, and it doesn't give you the right to say that your bias against him is inherently superior to our bias in his favor.
So. yeah. You have a right to be biased against Sasuke. You even have a right to rant against him. But don't fucking bash him in my LJ, kthnxbye. Because calling us all idiots for our interest in him is exactly what you've just done.
Meep.

But don't you think this is just maybe not the most appropriate place go off about Sasuke and his "fangirls?" I think you were really reaching for an excuse to bring this out, and it should be pretty obvious that this isn't the place for it.
You're in someone else's personal journal. There's nothing in this post inviting any sort of debate or character bashing. It's obviously clear to you that a number of people who read
Like Sasuke or not, it's rude to belittle his fans and him in someone else's journal like this.
I could write essays about why I like Sasuke, and why I feel he's probably the best written character in the series, but I'm not trying to change your mind. You can dislike whomever you like. However, please do be thinking before you let loose a big, steaming pile of hate, okay? It's not too hard to tell that this isn't the appropriate place for it.
