... XD; Ahh, TMI reviews.

Teamwork: The Night.
oh dear that was really good. even got me alittle wet!

...

...... XD *dead*

edit: not gonna spam just so I can babble, so -- change of subject yay!!

The naruto forums amuse the hell out of me.

Before it was "OMG Sai is Sasuke!!!"

Now it's "OMG Sasuke is the Sound spy they're gonna meet!!"

XD do these people even think? Why the hell would Sasuke spit on everything he's given up to reach his life goal by betraying Oro now, before he's strong enough -- and to help his brother's friends?

Besides where would he know Sasori from? Okay they could have met, but it's more likely that Sasori's spy would be someone from his village, and/or someone he would have some sway over.

If Sasuke IS at the rendezvous point, he will more likely be there as part of the cleanup crew to get rid of the spy, or something like that. Kishimoto, if you decide to make me look stupid by making Sasuke the spy, give him a really really good reason plzkthnxbai.

I swear, they want Sasuke so bad, they see him henge'd in the most random background characters. Hey, that unknown woman with Tsunade (not shizune) had black hair, she must be Sasuke in disguise!! =____=;

... but fuck, i miss him too T_T sasukeeeee... come back and beat up Sai for hitting on Naruto... and then Sakura can beat you up for being an ass and you can have team cuddles and stuff and waahhhh TT_TT

Personally, I would like Sasuke to redeem himself BEFORE Naruto shows up. It's been two and a half years; people change over time, and Sasuke is the only character who HASN'T been allowed to grow up yet. Except for at the very end, where for the first time he starts rejecting his brother's plan for him by refusing to kill Naruto.

That said - Sasuke? Working for Akatsuki? ... ... ... ... ... Yeah. Riiiiight. A little common sense here, people...

...Random thought. Sasuke gets chewed out for trying to use Chidori on Naruto when they're fighting on top of the hospital. How come Naruto doesn't get chewed out for using Rasengan? (And let me point out the relative damage that each attack did.) And to top it off, Naruto pulls out the big guns FIRST in that fight...

Naruto did get chided, just not as vociferously. And the Rasengan can be adjusted to be nonlethal, unlike Chidori- recall that when Jiraiya demonstrated it for Naruto, he didn't kill the guy he used it on.

*blinks*

...is this in the manga, or the anime? Because I've only read the manga, and if I recall correctly, Jiraiya demonstrates the technique on a tree, not a person. *goes to check* Yes - Chapter 155, pages 9-12. Where Rasengan is largely shown to be a drill. And as for Naruto getting scolded... (goes to check again) Kakashi says "I'll leave Naruto to you" to Jiraiya, but we never actually see the conversation - it essentially doesn't happen as far as plot development goes. Which I translate into 'Naruto doesn't get scolded,' simply because it would be inconsistent to NOT show that particular conversation if it DID happen.

And 'adjusted to be non-lethal' - again, I suggest looking at the tank. That does NOT look like 'adjusted to be non-lethal' to me.

*smiles helplessly and shrugs* Sorry. My personal read of that particular situation.

The tree demonstration was his demonstration for step three of the training. Before he started Naruto on the Rasengan training, he used it on a person at the carnival. I don't read the manga but I know from the manga-to-anime-cuts section of leafninja.com that this did happen in the manga :)

I seem to recall that after Kakashi stopped the hospital roof fight, he told Sasuke off, saying that Chidori was a technique that should not be used on a member of the same village. He then said, "Same goes for you, Naruto." Or words to that effect. It was a small chiding, but it seemed to count as chiding to me. And no, they never did show Jiraiya telling Naruto off.

As for the adjustment thing- ok, I grant you that. Jiraiya is apparently capable of making the adjustment, but it seems Naruto can't, probably because he is less experienced with the Rasengan.

Blast, now you've gotten me curious. *goes hunting down the carnival scene* Ah, found it - Chapter 150, pg. 13-15, if you're curious.

All right, I stand corrected - although we've already established that, non-lethal or not, the fact of the matter is that Naruto was using it in a lethal manner.

The scolding issue, however, I'm still iffy on. Yes, I know that Kakashi does chide them both slightly, but he only mentions that SASUKE's attack could have killed - the fact that Naruto's could have as well is glossed over.

I suppose the point I was really getting at is not so much what is happening in the world of Naruto, as it is the manipulation of the reader/viewer. The fact that Sasuke could have killed Naruto is emphasized; the fact that Naruto could have killed Sasuke - and, in fact, was the first to pull out the super-powered attacks (Sasuke only starts Chidori when he sees Naruto prepping the Rasengan - whether or not he would have used Chidori anyway is rendered a moot point, because you don't know what's really going on in his head at that point) - is not mentioned.

Just a random thought on how our perception of the incident is getting manipulated. :-P

...Just as another random thought, I wonder how much Jiraiya actually did scold Naruto on the issue. Given that his first 'introduction' to Sasuke was the fight between Sasuke and Naruto - and his second was Kakashi more or less equating Sasuke to Orochimaru. Can we say 'bias'? Not that I don't think Jiraiya woud have stood for an irresponsible use of Rasengan - but he may have phrased it in terms of 'irresponsible use' rather than 'potentially killing your teammate.' I've no doubt that Jiraiya would LOVE a chance to shove a Rasengan down Orochimaru's throat, and given the strong possibility that he's projecting the situation of himself and Orochimaru onto Naruto and Sasuke... *shrugs* Meh, who knows. Just food for thought. I'm thinking with my fingers again. :-P

The guilt issue: yep, Naruto would have taken the realization that he could have killed his teammate like a kick in the gut, while Sasuke, whatever his internal reaction, would put an arrogant face on it. That analysis gets no argument from me. I suspect that it goes back to what I mentioned in that minefield of a post down below. *points* Sasuke has some psychological hang-ups on admitting to a failing. It's the negative side of the determined, once-I-say-I'll-do-something,-I'll-do-it attitude (which he and Naruto share; Naruto has just managed to avoid making the wrong promises thus far). Probably because, if he were to give in once, it would have an avalanche effect and his whole life would start to fall apart.

This is one kid with SERIOUS self-esteem/confidence issues. -_-

Oh, on the topic of manga and anime - I go with manga for anything plot/character related, and let the manga be the eyecandy. Just a personal rule of thumb. I know a little bit about how the business of making an anime works - both from exposure to the results, and from a class where various big names of the industry came in as guest speakers - and thus I'm a little too aware of the fact that plot/character continuity tends to be surprisingly low on the totem pole of priorities. It makes me distrustful of just about ANY anime adaptation of a manga - no matter HOW close people assure me it is.

Just a rule of thumb that I tend to follow - figured I should toss that out so that anyone who actually remembers this will have an idea of where I'm coming from. :-P

*nods* well, I have learned that I need to Beware of Filler with the anime. I know the importance of seperating it from the Real stuff.
