oh, cloneness. Its status is a bit strange because I wasn't writing it so much as transcribing it from a RP between me and

windandwater (also lengthening some stuff/adding padding and scene transitions/cutting out unnecessary stuff, but that's still more editing than writing). Mind, the rp itself isn't "finished" either but it has a few nice stopping places, then we liked the world so we tried to keep going and that eventually fizzled out. I'll have to see if I can post the logs instead, because yeah, transcribing stuff is tiresome and I was in the middle of one of those scenes that required more creativity than I had at the time.

It's an idea and setting that would require a smarter plot than what we gave it, but it was fun to play, anyway.

Oooooooh, gotcha. The logs would be fun to read but no rush.

My question is about GW: Newtypes. I honestly can't remember if the fic's discontinued, or what's going on with it, if anything, lol.

It stopped talking a while ago but there were so many people who wanted to read more of it, i didn't want to admit it to them. I should have anyway but... ngh. .__.

Newtype is not discontinued! even though it probably looks like it is, oh man, that's a bit of a hiatus, yeah. XD;; Just recently I started writing it again, even. It's coming a bit slow because I still have a lot of intense political plotting to do for it, but I had long smart shiny convos about it with ... can't call 'em beta readers... alpha readers? XD and I've unstuck a lot of more interpersonal plot, therefore yay. It's still slow-going because I'm worrying over the ships. It started 1x5 but with Meiran and Duo around being all "yeah i bring the chemistry" I'm a bit afraid of it falling into more cliche 1x2, 5xM since Wufei and Heero haven't had time to really solidify anything. I mean I have nothing against the idea of them going their separate ways eventually (OKAY YES I DO but that's because my approach to shipping is the same as to new fandoms, i just add new ones and never put down the old ones) but even if they don't get together it can't be too easy, it would be a serious waste of setup.

Sanctuarium, I'm mostly fretting about how much I don't feel qualified to write Stargate fic/characters. Rodney's easy but that's because he's so over the top. John not so much. Also the military procedures, I don't want to fuck them up, also trying not to make Heero ~~even more of~~ a canon sue. It's irritating. But not discontinued either. Okay new rule, if anything's been updated in the last two years it absolutely does not even qualify, come on, I've always updated at the speed of a lemur stuck in an iceberg. XD

But you tried, instead of just giving up, and if it doesn't happen, it doesn't.

XD Awesome to hear about both of those fics being worked on (especially Newtypes 8D). Meh, I don't really care what pairings you end with, tbh. I mean, I have my own ships, of course, but I wouldn't stop reading a really good fic just because of the pairings (or more ;D). That, and I tend to love anything you write, lol.

Tripletsverse is deliberately made of oneshots so there's no cliffhangers! But no worries, it's still alive. Just kind of taking its turn on the backburner.

The avatar story is pretty much deader than dead, yeah, though. XD That one was supposed to sort of follow the beginning of part 2 only with Naruto slowly amassing a harem, and then when they meet Sasuke again it, um, goes differently. >_>;; It was supposed to be a porny series! alas I never do great with those.

1) so what was naruto's backstory? i had this whole idea of how the ppl who recruited/trained him once had some sort of vendetta against AIs and went the whole genetic manipulation/eugenics route so naruto was basically a test tube baby... maybe he even had some sort of telepathic ability that allows him to read AIs better and exploit their weaknesses? 'cause you mentioned once in a ficlet that "He knows he's not smart in a conventional way, but he understands machines, and they understand him. He can feel them." so it was even more significant that he didn't realize sasuke was AI at first, 'cause sasuke's personality's so, well, unique (hey, you have to be a bit human to be that much of an asshole :P)

2) were you going with psycho!itachi or redeemed!itachi as per canon?

3) how did the pr0n happen/go down in your head? i mean, character-wise, how would sasuke go from "i don't totally hate this idiot" and "i would risk my life for him" to "i might find him slightly sexually attractive" and "so we should fuck" etc. it's just so hard to imagine sasukebot with an active sex drive... it's like crack!porn XDD

in the end, i'm sad this story's dead, but i really love what you've written already, plot holes and all, so i really don't regret reading it and i hope the experience was worth it too on your end (even if it probably gave you a lot of headaches...) anyways thank you so much for writing and sharing this story with us #^__^#

... pretty close! But no. XD The government was employing Uchiha units to control the population. (very corrupt society blahblah) A group of people decided they needed counters because it was sliding from supercops to oppressorts, so the jinchuuriki were born out of generic manipulation. They're all purely organic, but they all have psychic powers, mostly telekinesis. (psychic powers supposedly exist in this world but naturally they're REALLY weak.) Naruto is a Yondaime clone, who was a wide-eyed idealist, and when Itachi destroyed the Uchihas and that secret project became obsolete Jiraiya got him to Tsunade and he tried to learn to live a normal life. He knew he had people who cared, and that he'd been created to save people. Gaara is the clone of another politicial guy, but one who had deep ties with the mafia and mostly opposed the government because they were bothering his business. Which means when the guy got him back he used him as a weapon, which fucked him up hardcore. I forget why they had to be furries, possibly so it'd make the emergence of psychic gifts easier, but that was geneticaly engineered into them as well.

Anyway Naruto can use his powers to ping things and feel what they're made of, but he rarely uses it like that anymore since he really thought his reason for being created was gone and uchihas have very specific patterns. Whereas Gaara ... well, his reason for living was suddenly nowhere to be seen, which means it had to be camouflaging itself into supposedly normal humans with cyborg parts, which means anyone with a replaced leg was fair game.

When I was writing that fic Itachi was still psycho, but I was writing him interested in what Sasuke was doing with his free will and willing to wait and see if he'd manage to find a way to free himself entirely. Itachi spends his time in Sharingan mode since that suppresses most bothersome "do this now!!" subroutines, but it also suppresses emotions and ethical considerations, so... yeah.

re: pr0n... I have no clue!! DX But anyway things were supposed to happen with Gaara that would make Naruto angry at Sasuke and then Sasuke would realize he hated it when it seemed Naruto didn't like him anymore and awkward confused feelings would start from there. ... Also it really does make a difference when he gets those programs installed. At the moment Sasuke has no sex drive, it wasn't programmed in and since he's hostile to most people he's refusing to be curious about it and mostly thinks it's gross, but he also has his settings set up so any physical contact will never be much more than tolerably not-unpleasant so there's no temptation here either. Naruto thinks it's too sad and joyless to allow it to go on, though, so eventually he'd convince him to tweak his settings a bit. Hi, sensory temptations. XD

ouch. poor gaara. did you have the end of his arc sort of plotted out? i just want to know if he ended up dying (maybe getting killed by sasuke's the thing that pissed off naruto?) or saved by naruto's eternal optimism...

oh, and i was reading some of the other comments and i'm wondering if kabuto ends up betraying sasuke to orochimaru or something... it would suck so much if kabuto ended up as a bad guy b/c i had the feeling sasuke liked him (and he gave sasuke advice and they *bonded* and everything!) and sasuke's still young, emotion-wise as an AI, and he's already so cynical and paranoid and full of trust issues... usually i have no compunction when it comes to sasuke-bastard getting hurt in fics, but AI sasuke's just so oddly adorable ^^;

itachi spending all his time in sharingan mode makes so much sense... i know he's a psycho murderer in this story, but i can't help but admire him a little for being able to break away from his army conditioning... how did he manage to overcome his core directives anyway? did he have help? i mean, without shikamaru's hacking sasuke wouldn't be able to murder, commit treason, etc.

re: re: pr0n... lol you've just redefined the meaning of the pleasure button! to be able to turn your hormones on or off... i don't know whether most pubescent boys (as sasuke would be technically) would turn it permanently off or on!

gah. I thought i'd answered this! I am bad person.

Alas yes I did have the gaara arc planned out. Mostly Naruto is in the process of calming Gaara down when Sasuke arrives to "save" him, since Sasuke thought Naruto was in danger. Gaara instantly pings him as an Uchiha bot, which means Naruto was lying and there ARE still Uchihas to be destroyed. Which means Gaara loses it spectacularly and tries to kill Sasuke, and he's been made to counter Sasuke's specific advantages so Naruto has to kill Gaara to save him.

(Temari then goes "I know you had to do it and he was suffering with his craziness, so thank you, but if you step on my turf again I will kill you.")

So Sasuke feels like ass because he didn't trust Naruto telling him he'd handle it and Sasuke couldn't help, and as a result Naruto had to kill his friend who he was raised with. (even if it was really a matter of time before Gaara self-destructed spectacularly, he'd been steadily losing it ever since his father was killed and had to get involved in Temari and Kankuro's hostile takeover to grab control of their father's mafia. Gave him way too many reasons to kill and then he couldn't stop.)

Kabuto pretty much sold Sasuke to Orochimaru the first day he met him. Sasuke doesn't know that they know Itachi, and they have really similar faces, and from then on it was easy to check up on. Kabuto is alas very good at being friendly. Mark of a good spy!

Itachi hasn't really overcome his core directives, he's using the sharingan mode to displace them, that's why he never comes out of it, it'd jump in his face the next second if he did. But at the same time Sasuke was in law enforcement and Itachi was in covert ops, so Itachi had a much looser ethical code installed in, and he had much worse experiences to build on.

A plot secret is that there are other Uchihas still alive, but the reason Itachi spared them is that they'd managed to grow past their conditioning or find some other way to block it, and he wanted to observe them to learn how to do that. The one condition for them to be left alone is to not come out as AI. If they can manage to pass as humans, he lets them live. For now he's still deciding about Sasuke. He's still a baby bot and they had a prior attachment that's swaying Itachi into giving him a little more slack than he would anyone else.

ouch. the gaara fiasco really sucks... poor naruto, poor sasuke! (no wonder you don't want to write it ^^;)

on the other hand, itachi with a teeny tiny emotional attachment to sasuke fills me with glee XD

Sad! It was a cool universe idea. It happens, though. Better to wash your hands of it and keep on than attempt to beat a dead horse, right? ♥♥♥♥♥♥

I suppose I'm most wondering what your general plans for Sasuke fitting into society were. Was it going to come out that he was a cyborg? Was he just going to settle down with a job and let people wonder why he never aged? Did he eventually figure out how to shut down all the police tech in his head? I really liked the idea of an AI slowly learning to live in the real world, and eventually gaining a full span of emotions and maybe even fall in love. *shrug* So, whatever you want to tell me about what you had planned for Sasukebot as a character, I suppose. ^^ That, and I second the request for Naruto's backstory. That always seemed like fun.

I never planned so far with Sasuke. I know Sakura would eventually learn he was a cyborg, and Tsunade already knew, but I don't know if he'd bother coming out to anyone else. It would be dangerous to him with how lawless the society was. Also lots of people never look like they don't age in this society due to plastic surgery and cyborg limb replacements, so it wouldn't have been a problem for a good long while and even then he'd just have had to move to another area.

He does eventually figure out how to get rid of that tech, but I don't know how XD;;

What else about Sasukebot, umm... I don't know. Will tell you more if it comes back to me.

Well I knew it was at least lounging in the grave, but confirmation makes for the sadface. :(

I'd love to read a post summing up what you had thought it would be and any character histories you might have worked out.

And while I'm mostly a pessimist about things, when it comes to you, and a few other authors, and dead fic... well I can still hold out a vague hope of some future drabble meme shaking something loose and giving you the urge to take a stab at a story in this universe again even if it is not this one.

Mostly a lot of it was canon subplots dressed up in cyberpunk clothes, like how Orochimaru wanted to figure out a powerful, dangerous body to transfer his brain into. (answer: uchiha body, alas they're mostly gone oops.) Itachi was hunting down orochimaru because he wanted to erase the uchiha secrets of fabrication entirely (most everyone who worked on that project is now dead thanks to him).

Hyuuga corp specialized in organic technology and they knew how to write over a brain with another pattern of personality, though it so far only worked on clones, which is why Orochimaru was interested in them and Itachi paid them a visit -- mostly it only works on clones, though. They also had developed psychic gifts -- Hiashi could see bits and pieces of the future, and their board of directors found that too precious to lose, so Hizashi and later on Neji were cloned as future replacement bodies. They both are/were aware of this, and Hizashi wasn't resentful because Hiashi was really nice to him even when things were difficult and he knew how little control Hiashi really had on the board's decisions, but Neji is pissed as fuck because Hizashi was the one who raised him and now he's a meat suit for that asshole guy who's going to eventually take him over as well.

The Sannin worked on a secret Uchiha countermeasures project that created Naruto and Gaara and the others but I talked about it some more in another comment... uhh, what else. *ponders* i dunno.

It's always disappointing when an idea sinks. *sympathizes* Still, don't let it drag you down. Think of it as streamlining your time for fics that you are going to write. :)

Actually, I do have a question. Do you have a fic masterlist? I skipped over to your Dreamwidth account to see if one was lurking there, and oh man, your tagging is awesome.

What about Enemy Skill? You posted a genderbend in March 2011, but you said in this post that sometimes you do drabbles in fics you don't have any interest in continuing. The last writing I can find in the original 'verse was the Zack prequel in April 2010, but the last chapter was Chapter One in November 2009.

Enemy Skill is still in progress but it's VERY SLOW progress, as this is one of my low-priority projects. I really like the worldbuilding, though, and the character interaction, so i'm still interested in poking at it.
