gw/hp plotbunny...

So the other day I had a long rambly convo about a Gundam Wing/Harry Potter crossover. Not going to write it, nooo way, but it ended up pretty fun to think about anyway. Also with some complaining/pondering about abuse in fanfic and stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
....I've read some really depressing Naruto fics lately ;___;
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
*pets*
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and why is it so hard to find good HP fic???
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
too much of it? idk ._.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I find a promising one, timetravel or AU or what have you, and then I get to an interesting chapter and there goes a kid laying down on an adult and no one answers appropriately!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
?_?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I mean, remember that scene in the first book/movie where the trio warns McGonagall of the danger the stone is in, and she pats them on the head and tells them it's alright?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yes?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the thing is.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
that was the "correct" response.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it really shows in the movie.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
three little kids with high little-kid voices, saying that sort of thing?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it's really really hard to take them seriously.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
aha yes good point
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it should take an exceptional person to accept the information they're saying.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it happens a lot in these fics
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the kids will show up, say "I know what to do!" and the adults step aside and allow them to go ahead.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
or the kids will insult an adult ultrageously, and the response is never satisfactiory -- no one reacts as though they are kids doing this stuff!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
there's definitely an element of wish fulfilment, they identify with the kids so they want them to get to be awesome and do stuff and be admired, and at the same time THEY know the kids are right so it's hard to imagine that other characters might not think so from the limited info they have
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
unreliable narrator is hard to grasp for a lot of people
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
also i'm typing without my glasses and can barley read the letters
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
just saying
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
woo scratchy eye
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
/random
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hahaha
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*hughugpet*
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
wow, you make so much sense!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I hadn't thought of the unrealiable narrator being hard to grasp angle.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
thanks for your input *__*
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oh hey gummies
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i mean from their point of view they know that the kid is being 100% truthful and that it's IMPORTANT OMG, but from the outside, especially young kids will say a lot of shit anyway
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oh yeah.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and I mean, it was probably a pivotal point for Harry.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
or should have been since JK didn't elaborate on it.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
but considering that he was abused by the Dursleys and was still with them...
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it was probably the first time ever he was going to a figure of authority with something he thought was important.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah ;;
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
tho really JKR didnt think through the repercussions of his abuse in his characterization :-\
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
true. a lot of people tried to make it more important in fic, but I'll have to say that a lot of them failed really badly.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeeeeah :-X

[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hey, did you ever read the fic where the GW boys try to raise Harry?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
which? there's several
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and i'd say no, or if i did i deliberately forgot it
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
really? any good?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i don't like gw/hp crossovers. the timelines don't mesh so it bothers me
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hm-hmmm.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I think it'd take a bit of work to make it work, but it could be done.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
most of them seemed like excuse to have cool older brother types beat up people harry didn't like and/or yay let's give very fanon versions of the gboys the occasion to totally fuck with the magical world
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but i haven't seen it yet ;p
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the easiest way would be throw away the GW timeline and adapt the story to our world.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
simutaneously throwing out most of the current history.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the GW characters fill the void left by the real people who'd have to be on Harry's background, bery convinient.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but then they lose all the background that makes them THEM and become random OCs
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
pretty stu-tastic too. and harry is hardly un-sueish himself
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it's a lot of speshul in one fic. XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
pffft.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it could still work!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah, maybe
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
for a militaristic Harry going to Hogwarts.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
maybe.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
let's see, Quatre is eventually CEO of a powerful international company
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
:-X
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah, an arabic one
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
what's he doing in england? okay he could be going to university over there. XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
heck, he could just be managing stuff.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
wait, the war did happen -- at the same time that Voldemort did.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
there were no Gundams!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
no space battles.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the GW boys where even more terrorists than in GW itself
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
idk, without the gundams they couldn't affect things half as much
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
...Treize was focused on Europe.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and they're all different nationalities, they'd be on different sides
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
wufei would have no reason to be around, and maybe not even heero
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
nah, they're all going against Treize.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
heero is japanese but the blue eyes, he could be half russian, but that's still pretty far away
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hm. :-X
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Heero is there because J is testing out his soldier toy.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Wufei went there due to two debts of honor: the first, to kill Treize since Treize defeated his Clan head in a martial battle, and the second, to help the scientist who Treize is pressuring.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
how did Meiran die?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
in battle? i don't think it was treize, it was romafeller tho
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
j isn't that much of an asshole to heero, he likes the kid actually
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and he wouldn't waste him on a potentially deadly conflict if he's not getting anything from it
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
maybe treize has a hit out on the 5 mad ones?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
get him treize as an actual enemy then it'll work
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hm. why not. why? what do they do that's dangerous to him?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
what is he anyway, mundane human or wizard?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
well, j for one is creating super-soldiers.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hm.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hmm, I'm inclined to think they're all at least thought to be mundane, operating on the mundane world, and so they nearly don't affect the wizard world.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Trowa is still a mercenary who fought on those neverending wars in Africa.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
that works for him
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it's real hard to imagine them all concentrating on england though
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I doubt they would.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but anyway let's imagine they're all here. now what? how do they (which one, they're not a group yet are they?) meet harry? why do they come to care?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I'm thinking they met each other, not all at once, and ...pinged.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hey, we are alike, you are interesting, you saved me/I saved you, let's keep in touch
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
that's hard to do convincingly, and not as a background detail to explain away how it happened. hm.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
considering how different their backgrounds and motives and self images are they'd need a lot of external pressure
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
XD okay i'll stop critting everything. it's a reflex i swear
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I like this reflex.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it makes me think.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
^^ <3<3<3
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
don't stop critting, please.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
ahaha okay then XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
let's say they all went to England during the Treize thing.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Wufei is out for his blood.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmm okay
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Heero is there to monitor things, gather info and sabotage.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
could def. blame him for meiran. whoops so sorry necessary sacrifices~
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmm idk. sabotage yes but hrrrrrrm idk
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Trowa got a contract to work for la resistence and decided he wanted out of this hell anyway.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
that works for him
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
duo's based in the states though and he's a street rat so hmm
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
ends up hopping out on the resistence too, runs away with the circus.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
LOL
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Quatre is going through a very rebellious and idealistic phase and decides that funneling money is not enough, I have training so I'll fight too.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
lol
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
in a modern world it's harder to justify him even having the money though
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
is the war public or sneaky?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I think sneaky
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Treize is a political candidate with dreams of uniting Europe and people don't notice that he's actually doing it.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
so then how would he know about it and how would it affect him?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
because there's more or less well internationally-known wars every day in the world
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
why this one?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
he was there.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
what's wrong with uniting europe the way treize does it that bothers him so much?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
universtity in England?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
okay, but as a student how does he have access to that kind of intel?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
maybe he gets involved via a chance meeting with trowa
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
he's still the future CEO of his international company
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
who stumbles bleeding and dazed through his window
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but they'd start trying to pull him out of the country
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I thought he'd start smelling something fishy when Relena becomes a puppet.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he's got responsibilities to his company and thousands of employees and his poor country that he can't fulfill is he gets himself killed in some random war in some other country
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oh hey she's the Queen of England! o__O
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmmmmmmmmmm maybe just a princess
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
anyway Treize's trying to control her and Quatre thinks that's not right
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
idk why but replacing the queen ... sacrilegious!! XD it's ridiculous, the HP world is not actually taking place irl
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
really?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but how does helping her equal fighting the whole war?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it doesn't, but he'll get all fired up for that, won't he?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i mean he could offer her a way out, like safe passage to his own country or some other resources, but that doesn't necesarily translate to "i will throw all my resources into getting this man dead/locked up/stopped at all costs"
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
personally yes, he'll be all hssst, but he has a duty to his people too
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I'm actually thinking... you know all those meetings where the five gboys stay at one of Quatre's safehouses that never happened on the show?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Quatre doesn't need to fight the war. he can sneakily help them by providing safehouses though.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and then he meets Trowa.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah, good if quatre doesn't get involved much with the dirty work (though assassins or something would be right surprised if they decide to go after one of the operatives' backers and he turns out to be quite able to defend himself XD that'd be pretty badass)
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oh I'd love that scene.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and it's hard for Wufei to hide his sword (gotta kill Treize with the sword.)
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
not really XD he's in england! could pretend it's an umbrella XDDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hey XDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
anyway without gundams to pilot it makes sense if quatre then becomes the one who provides the political and dirty deals backgrounds and moneylender and safehouse suggester
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it's his main strength aside of piloting anyway
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
wufei would probably feel it was shameful to disguise his sword though, but even in canon he doesn't always have it at hand
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
if he's planning to go after treize then yes he'd take it along, but he would also be sneaking around so that's not bad
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hmmm. Heero and Duo probably arrive together at the safehouse due to an epic mess. XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
okay so how to get duo there at all.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
oh hey
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
duo is working for howard, who does sneaky weapon traffic all over the world
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I was thinking Duo....either he's here because it's a party, or he's got a job that involves killing someone on Treize's turf, or he was nearly caught by the feds and decided to have a vacation, or he was caught by the feds and Treize wants him...
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oh hey, that works well!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he delivers a shipment of weapons, things turn south, duo has seen too much and/or he sees something that really pisses him off, hey howie that guy's bad for business let me off him
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
DX
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
we can even have the scene where Duo and Heero nearly shoot each other and afterwards Heero saves him
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
like, some of treize's men do real bad stuff in his name? or they use his rep as his followers to dodge consequences from, idk, underage prostitutes or abusive behavior, that'd piss duo off pretty badly
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
ahaha yes
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and then he's all "well howie you remember we have this policy of only selling to guys if we can halfway agree their cause is just and those guys got our weapons on false pretenses i'm gonna fix that"
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
woooow
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
everyone thinks duo is just some random kid deliveryman but actually he's more like howard's heir/right hand man so he has a LOT of pull
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
^o^
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
howard is planning to leave him the whole empire of shady deals with he retires on his island in the pacific XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
works? XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XDDDD you go boy u.u-b
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
okay then they're all here
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
though heero hrrm
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
actually maybe heero was still with odin lowe
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
okay?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
the hired killer who raised him as a kid
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I was thinking maybe Zechs is stolen work of J's, but?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
in canon odin regretted being made to kill the pacifist heero yuy by Septem who was from Oz, and he turned against oz, but he was killed, so heero finished that mission for him
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it'd be easy to just move that event from heero's 8 year old to 18 or whatever age they are
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmmm zechs
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
oh man zechs is totally a prince of england
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
if relena is, i mean
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XXDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
okay
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
...
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
quatre is totally a wizard
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
honestly I can totally see Relena as princess of England.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
ehhhhhhhhhhh?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
the other gboys are baffled as to how his hideouts are NEVER found but he's rich and mysterious
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
also he was from north africa and they teach magic differently there
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he has a lot of notice me not and healing spells but he doesn't use a wand
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
ooohhh!! *___*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
also the empathy
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
you're right.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
totally a wizard.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he can't do european spells, really, but his magic is more instinctive and closer to children's natural magic
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*__*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and then we have a connection to the local wizarding life. XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
could Duo or Trowa be wizards who escaped throught the cracks?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
even if nothing happens during the war, after the war the aurors could still drop in XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmmmmmmmmmm
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
trowa would totally be a squib.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and as for Heero, the man who jumps off buildings and bends steel....
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
why a squib?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
heero might be a wizard, with that unnatural strength -- oh oh OH he's not a wizard, he's part something not human
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*________*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
idk, he gives me that feeling like he knows magic but it kinda flows around him? also he was abandoned sorta
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
D-:
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
possibly something japanese or russian. probably japanese, ahaha oh god part kitsune heero. no, he's WAY not playful enough
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
... YUKIONNA
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
OMG.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
HEERO
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
ICE MAIDEN
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XDDDDDDDDDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
THIS IS LITERALLY PERFECT
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
LOL
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
NOTHING CAN BE MORE PERFECT
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
this is now my headcanon now and forever amen.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
see how it was a good thing we kept pushing at this?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yes!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and ahaha duo could also have a little something extra
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i dunno what though
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
okay
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he's not native american so it's a bit appropriating to stick him with something from that folklore
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
huh, pity he's not japanese, he could be a kitsune
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
unless we say he's like half indian but idk that bugs me a bit. :-\
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
haha yes
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
american i'd go with Coyote but Coyote is a deity not a species. XD he does the trickster thing though
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
wouldn't it be a matter of the land rather than the ethnics?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
one of my friends had done the gw boys as fae creatures and duo was a raven/death spirit
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
huh.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
oooooh that's an interesting point
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but i'd think he would also need to be raised in those beliefs for them to anchor in
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hmmm. gipsy contact?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
gypsy?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hrrrm they're actually european/north african
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
yeah but some of them moved to America
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but idk. the stereotypes hrrrm.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
maybe duo is just naturally badass. XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
or okay, HE can be an untrained wizard XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
<3
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
quatre was trained, only in his own country's traditions
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
heero is part non-human
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
trowa idk, and wufei, i could see it like some in his clan were wizard and everyone knew it and it was a pretty normal spiritual thing but wufei wasn't
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I see!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but he's fine with it because sword and martial arts master, who cares about divination or cursing people, those are cowardly things
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
LOL
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
u.u
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I can see him saying that.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hahaha toward the end of the war they find out quatre's a wizard, and everyone is o_o except wufei who's like... yes, and?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
LOL.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
duo, well, he's one but he never NOTICED
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
heero might know he's weird, idk
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
...he bent steel. with his hands someone would have warned him at that point
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he doesn't ping me as questioning himself much XDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but yeah, i think secretly he's aware he's abnormal but idk if he would think on it too hard instead of living in the moment
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hmm, good point.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and then when they figure it out in detail he's like "... oh. Hm. Wonder if i can use it somehow."
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
BUT OKAY how do we get them to meet harry XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*sigh* of course.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Harry.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I was thinking.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the defeating Voldemort thing.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmm?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and the surviving the Killing Curse thing.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
how important would they be considered.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I'm thinking.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
either Duo or Quatre would notice this abandoned kid.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
they're the ones most likely to go rawr at it.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
they'd make sure an investigation was initiated.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
depending on the level of abuse we choose to use, things might go this or that way, but....
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
might the whole Boy-Who-Lived thing land his file on Relena's desk?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
ahaha maybe the unconscious magic quatre and duo and heero were throwing around means they get invited to the ministry to discuss their case and whether they did breach the statute of secrecy or whatevet it's called
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
pffffffft
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and duo's all "haha shyeah right fuck that noise i'mma gonna visit this here street" and he meets harry with the dursleys. but that means harry'd be about to enter school
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i just can't see the convenient neighbor thing because quatre, living in a middle class suburbian premade house?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
oh, maybe quatre buys grunnings!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I was thinking, visiting somewhere and Harry would be conviniently visiting the same place
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and there's a dinner thing where everyone meets the new CEO and brings the wife and kids and the dursleys couldn't find a sitter so they have to bring harry
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
but buying Grunnings has potential
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
they leave him in the car
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
D:
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
DDDD':
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
duo: *kinda hates those big moneybag meetings and also he doesn't feel like he fits with people who work mundane daily jobs and notices him while stalking around in the dark"
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*_______*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
or maybe trowa, or duo and trowa were taking a perimeter walk and chatting, oh hey kid in car. :-X
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hahahahahahaha, the five of them are pretty much living together on and off by this point, aren't they.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yessss.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
duo might sometimes disappear because he does run his own business on the side!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
<3<3<3<3<3
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
in my head this has totally devolved into a big poly orgy, you do realize.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
<3333333333333333
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
omg you'll have togive me details eventually
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
anyway duo and trowa break harry out of the car and they're calmly pissed off about this and bring him in the house and feed him cake and oh hey mr dursley *fake smile* apparently you forgot your nephew in your car but no worries those things happen!!!*
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*______*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
after this point quatre makes it a point of asking after harry when he has reasons to see dursley around. >_> pointedly.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
socool
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and then the aurors are like "okay we all agreed that you did not act as wizard during the last war and so you werne't under our laws but we been noticing your magical auras around harry potter recently what the fuck" and the five are all "... tell us more about this harry potter."
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
because up until then they pretty much didn't give a crap about the wizarding world and their weird reclusive behavior
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh *______*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and then duo probably starts wandering down privet drive. it's a shortcut to go to his job! seriously!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
you're tying things so incredibly nicely <3
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
okay not really but it's a scenic route!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hahaha <3
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it's so fun
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I'm glad! <3
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
we need to get heero and fei involved
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
... what are a yukionna's powers again
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
yukionna are associated with snow.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
Despite her inhuman beauty, her eyes can strike terror into mortals.

XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but apart from that
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I'm pretty sure when they get upset things freeze.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
Some legends say the Yuki-onna, being associated with winter and snowstorms, is the spirit of someone who perished in the snow.[5] She is at the same time beautiful and serene, yet ruthless in killing unsuspecting mortals.

SO HEERO.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but heero doesn't get upset
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i was thinking maybe he'd be attracted by harry's power
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hoho!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
What Yuki-onna is after varies from tale to tale. Sometimes she is simply satisfied to see a victim die. Other times, she is more vampiric, draining her victims' blood or "life force." She occasionally takes on a succubus-like manner, preying on weak-willed men to drain or freeze them through sex or a kiss.[3]
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
o__o
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
if heero's yukionna is a little on the vampiric side he could be a little baffled and pretty intrigued by what he feels from that kid. okay, he's ... interesting. huh. but, a kid, so trying anything to steal that energy from him doesn't even register as a possibility
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but it's like heero is half vampire and oh hey this kid has warm yummy blood. he's not hungry since he can live on human food, he's just aware?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I see
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
interesting!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
to him it'd be a fairly distant thing since he's like one fourth or one eight but it can provide DRAMA later on when the wizarding world tries to get custody back. liek le gasp pedophile life draining monster using harry potter as a living food source!!!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
heero: ... thefuck. :-\
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
LOL.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it'd totally be a malfoy thing to bring up wouldn't it
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it would.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oh em gee.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Trowa would identify a little with the abandoned kid
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
enough to provide company but not enough to seek it our
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
out
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
quatre would be pissed off since he feels paternal/protective toward his employees and it pisses him off that he'd be sheltering an abusive one but he can't really fire him for things he has no way of legally knowing
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
also it wouldn't improve harry's situation any
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
heee I like!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hell if vernon was suddenly unemployed he'd have more time and more rage to abuse harry with
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
DX
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah :-\
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
anyway i'm not sure how they'd get custody
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
huh
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Duo could start out by hey, lady, wanna let me take your kid for a spin?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and take Harry around
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
unless it's unofficial custody where he's still nominally the dursleys' ward so dumbledore has no reason to interfere, but he's being sent off to play with duo/trowa/whever else since 1) it makes vernon's boss happy and 2) vernon is vaguely thinking they're probably pedos but who the fuck cares it means harry is not at their house
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
and teach him how to behave himself
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
the fuck XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i mean, unrelated adults who want to spend a lot of time with a kid? suspicious as hell
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XDDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
though i dunno if vernon would be THAT evil. hmm.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
unless he was like "you're pedos!! i'm gonna blackmail you about it!!"
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
depends on the level of abuse we're dealing with.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hmmm.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
it could be that Harry himself likes them and starts seeking them out more and more
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah but unless they live pretty close by he couldn't
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
shyly asking if he can help with their jobs
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
maybe they have a really nice house a couple streets over. hmm.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I was thinking he'd write to them all the time
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
but never send the letters
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it's difficult, legally speaking, even more so if we're not introducing a random-ass way too convenient secret family bond between them
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
aww
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
idk, they're still adults, not really friends
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
yeah, but Harry used to dream of someone nice who'd like him -- I'm pretty sure that's canon.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i mean, friendly adults, but that's more like having nice uncles who actually don't mind taking you for ice cream than friends his own age
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
oh god. XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
dursley witnesses shady dealings! the deal turns bad! there's a shooting! he gets killed! whoops harry has seen everything welp i guess we have to kidnap him now.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
OMG.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
sorry kid it wouldn' tbe safe for you to let you go the people who killed your uncle would kill you too, they wouldn't care you're a kid
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and harry doesn't know anyone in the wizarding world yet, so
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
yesyesyes how come your brain gets entry into crazycoolland
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
they're not family but they're nice and want to protect him and they TRIED to protect his uncle and him
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
<3<3<3<3
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and they failed it was horrible but they tried at least and they did save harry and hug him tight and say they were so sorry and sound like they meant it and none of them beats or ignores him or gives him chores he's too little to do well
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and ... quatre does happen to have magical wards on his property
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
;______;
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
his unplottable property.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
:3
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
:-D
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
duo: *gets harry shiny new passport & ID*
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
Harry Maxwell? Harry Winner? XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
heero: teaches harry to get passports and IDs
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
LOL
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yesss
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
quatre: ... you know we shouldn't teach him to... oh damn whatever okay
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XDDDD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
everyone else: didn't even notice it was an issue
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
LOL.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
ok no wufei might but he'd treat harry as older than he is to responsibilize him and also he's a pretty mature kid
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
agreed.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
couple years later duo takes harry for a stroll on diagon alley? XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
besides you know wufei and duo are gonna have a competition on who teaches Harry to fight better.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
SUDDENLY HARRY POTER REAPPEARS it's a huge kerfluffe
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
haha yes
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
... meanwhile trowa and heero are the ones who actually daily-drill with him
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
duo started a basic course on street selfdefense, wufei took offence....
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
fei and duo teach him the fancy tricks but heero and trowa instill the work ethic. XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
ahaha yes
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
yes, hahaha
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
anyway, you were saying?
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
Diagon Alley?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
everyone panics aurors get involved blahblah custody!!!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
....what custody?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
only quatre is from an old and revered wizard family they were wizards when your ancestors lived in smelly tents okay
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
he's been with us for years, no one noticed.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
well they want to grab harry back and give him back to his aunt (who moved away after vernon's death?) (or maybe she died too) but the gboys are all THEY WERE ABUSIVE NONE OF YOU CARED YOU WANT TO SEND HIM BACK HERE
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he's happy with us and he wants to stay okay
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
dumbledore could have taken him in instead but ahaha nope he has these voldemort issues >>
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
it's a huge mess, but meanwhile harry is reaching hogwards age, and they tell him to decide and he says, at the moment i'd like to try this wizard thing. maybe i can teach duo tricks!
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
(when they go buy harry's wand ollivander totally shoves a wand in duo's hand and he walks out having bought both and being very confused.)
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
pfffft
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
anyway so while harry's at school they discuss the issue of harry calmly and with more lawyers
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
quatre appeals to the purebloods by pretending to be a blood supremacist as well and being stinking rich, he's kinda cutting off the arguments of "harry potter should be with a rich traditional family who can take care of him like he deserves!!"
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
oooohhhh, clever!
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he also goes with how dumbledore forfeited his right on account of having placed harry illegally anyway in the wizarding world it was his godfather's right? and besides dumbles isn't any more related to harry than quatre is.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*nodnod*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
why should he have the right to make that decision, hmm? you're free to inspect our home life all over the place but we protected harry and he is a happy child. we see nothing wrong with letting him go to school and making friends, abusive controlling assholes would want to keep him locked up so he's more easy to brainwash into thinking the bad things are normal, we're fine with letting him stay at friends' houses over the holidays, we're fine with letting dumbledore assume a mentoring position IN SCHOOL, AS THE HEADMASTER
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
anyway behind the scenes they have a long discussionw with dumbledore who telepathfucks the hell out of them until he's satisfied they truly mean no harm, and then they enter an unofficial alliance to get harry to be the happiest, most levelheaded, most dangerous little chosen child.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
<333333333333333 *_____* :-D
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
once dumbledore decides to start manipulating things in their favor instead of against them even if it's not that legal for quatre to have custody either things go pretty fast XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
hahaha
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
also quatre buys a house in that wizarding village by the school. XD
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
they'd be pretty pissed if they found Dumbledore saw their thougths, but it's not as if they have the high moral ground.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah XD
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
quatre might be able to feel it happen and slash back with his empathy
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and then he'd be all "next time, ask" and dumbledore is all "very well. may I?" and quatre is all "you may" and then consensual brain rummaging happens
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*___*
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
hmm yes.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
you know, I'm thinking.... Harry probably killed that troll with a gun. if he did. did he even kill the troll?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yes. yess.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
though i dunno if they'd let him have a gun in school
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
i mean even if they know he wouldn't treat it like a toy
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
he'd be in a dormitory
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
they're wizards, why would they search for a gun?
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
some of the kids might snoop around and find it and have no idea what it is
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
they could be snooping for candy for all it matters
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
huh, good point.
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
he'd have to keep it on himself at all times.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
the gun is useless as protection if harry isn't carrying it and it's locked in his trunk, but that's dangerous in class and also his teachers would be so pissed off. so he might as well not have one
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
awww.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
also no matter how smart and mature he is, he's eleven. what if one day he really really wants to show off to get someone to think he's cool
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
:uhoh.
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
yeah
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
okay no gun
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
but he would have the mindset, that'd make him disciplined enough to be dangerous
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
and i bet they'd encourage him to think of defensive/.offensive uses for the everyday spells they learn
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
v. true
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
tho really in canon he did pretty okay
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
haha, you'd be a first to think so
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
I'm tired of seeing fic authors say he slid on luck and should have been much cooler
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
well he fumbled around and was clumsy but he thought on his feet and figured out a pretty smart way of repurposing a new spell
[livejournal.com profile] askerian:
)-: it was his first serious confrontation cut him some slack! D:
[livejournal.com profile] shewhoflies:
*nodnod*

And then [livejournal.com profile] joisbishmyoga added in her two cents, which are v. yummy cents. :

Re: fic adults not reacting like these are little kids:
- agreed x1,000,000
- I'd like to add Fudge at the end of GoF as an example. Harry was FOURTEEN YEARS OLD. Even if he wasn't traumatized and distraught (which he obviously was), listening to a thing he said would've been political suicide at best. Though I am still rather confused as to why Fudge didn't get the idea that Harry had been kidnapped, abused, and misled by Sirius Black.
- I'd also like to add how often ficauthors write Harry with all the maturity, cunningness, and ability of a thirty-year-old. Rrgh. No, I don't care how capable Harry is for his age or how much he's secretly read, he's not going to have that much of a clue about Gringotts contracts and legal loopholes and all that other nonsense.
- And another thing, Harry was abused and neglected, I don't deny that, but the extent to which fics take it is ridiculous. You CAN be abused without getting the belt every night. Not that JKR seemed to particularly write him as a neglected child, I agree.

Hm. Pulling the GW timeline back. I've seen a few where they pull the HP timeline forward instead. Considering how out-of-touch the wizarding world is with the Muggle one, it seems to be a lot easier to place HP during the GW wars than GW in the 1990s (or 2000s if you're more inclined to movie release dates). But keeping with the idea of pulling the GW timeline back and shifting the backstories, a lot of the GW side seems to be "the shadowy world of backroom deals and crime" rather than open warfare.

- Treize as "trying to take over the world (or at least Europe)". The EU was forming in the 1990s, and Treize has his crazy canon ideology of "stop war by making everyone sick of it". If he can't operate openly, which he can't here, he could be trying to position key supporters in the budding EU and pervert its aims.
- Heero as assassin, still with Odin Lowe. (Yukionna = YES)
- Duo as Howie's secret heir.
- Trowa as mercenary.
- Quatre as CEO of an international company.
- Wufei as kill-Treize-driven vigiliante? What did Treize do? Wufei is the big question mark here.

Using the EU, which is largely an economic entity, Quatre and Duo seem to be the people most likely to have the information and intelligence to start tracing what Treize is trying to do: Quatre as the head of an international corporation, Duo as the secret heir to a conglomerate in the criminal economy, both of which would have major operations covering Europe and therefore be in the thick of the development of it all.
Heero and Trowa are most likely to have contacts and be getting their work from within Duo's empire, though it's also likely that one or both took jobs from Treize (which they regret now).

From my recent readings in Native American lore... well. It's cultural appropriation if you do it wrong, but shewhoflies has a point: you could put it into the context of "this is how the regional supernatural world works (Eurosystem kindly f*ck off)". To oversimplify the case drastically, Native North America system can be classified into two basic categories: the agricultural and the hunter-gatherer. The hunter-gatherer system is very individualistic over a general substrate of shared lore, and works a lot in terms of spirit quests and personal spirit animals, the whole "I go on a vision quest and am met by spirits who challenge and then are willing to assist and instruct me" thing. If the magical world in the northern US worked like that, then Duo could be under the aegis of a paranormal being without it necessarily being cultural appropriation. (The case society I read about had a "three spirits challenge and the fourth comes for you if you're worthy" concept.) There's been a sharp rise in Mexico of the adherents of La Santa Muerte, Holy Death, since the start of the millenium, I can see her being Duo's patron...

How was it that only Vernon and little Harry were around when shady dealings went down and boom? I can believe Petunia being stuck alone and out somewhere with Harry -- oh Dinky Duddydums, go play with your little friends while Mummy takes the boy to the charity shops, Mummy doesn't want you to have to associate with nasty people like that and you'd be so bored there! -- but I doubt Vernon would be taking Harry anywhere, and as much as Privet Drive is described with neighbors spying on everybody else it's unlikely anyone would be holding a shady meeting there.

Poly orgy approved. :3

Harry *might* be smuggling a tiny gun, but certainly nothing of a large enough caliber to injure a troll anyway. And I'd think it more likely he'd have a knife instead. You don't need ammo, everyone knows what it is, it hits a more primal terror button, and it can be explained away as "it's for potions ingredients and quill sharpening". However, just how good at martial arts is he? I'm thinking dropkick broken faucets into the eyes, hurl a toilet seat against the windpipe, mule kick to the crotch, lasso with a necktie or belt and hang down the troll's back until it collapses from lack of bloodflow to the brain.

do want.

also,, my fave HP fics: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3766574/1/Prince_of_the_Dark_Kingdom (unfinished, updated frequently and is foam-at-mouth awesome. the first chapter is the worst. Push past it, everything is better after that point. SO. MUCH. AWESOME. ASDEFEWOIFEWOFNEWOFE this is my favorite story ever. The... basic premise is "what if Voldemort won?" but .. that barely scratches the surface.) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5782108/1/Harry_Potter_and_the_Methods_of_Rationality (unfinished, but also updates frequently -- "what if harry potter was raised by kind loving parents who loved SCIENCE?") http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2636963/1/Harry_Potter_and_the_Nightmares_of_Futures_Past ( unfinished -- this is a NIFTY story, and the author IS working on an update. he said so just a month or so ago "what if the search for the horcruxs took years and everyone Harry loved died before they finally won, and a tired defeated 30ish harry finds a way to travel back in time and merge with his 11 year old self?" ) and.. for honorable mention: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1374917/Inverarity Inverarity's Alexandra Quick Series is a story about a young witch who lives in America, She never meets Harry Potter, or Voldemort. She has her own problems. love it, even if it's not strictly harry potter. :)

when you first said HP/GW my first thoguht actually was having the GW boys as part of the Hogwarts cast... or.. maybe some young child wizard trained to take down Voldemort in secret somehow -- conceived up back during the LAST voldemort incident, decided to go ahead with the plot just in case (because they believe Dumbledore in saying Voldemort isn't dead, mearly hiding.. or whatever.. maybe dumbledore IS one of the conspiritors doing this for the good of the many... maybe harry was supposed to be his protegee/project but didn't for reasons or something...

I"m way too sleepy to express my brains right now.

~DIES~ <3 <3 <3

[identity profile] lordryous.livejournal.com 2012-06-28 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my, youve hit one of my favorite Fanfic genres.

Ive definitely perused just about all the great ones.
My favs are prolly 'flight of the bumblebee' great fic, but annoying author who basically said 'fuck fanfics im going to do original work, i aint gonna finish this.' 'About a boy' is good but very dark. 'Magic during wartime' is ok, the summary was misleading, but ive enjoyed it so far, its on the second story and doing well, and while the first two tend to draw the hp timeline forward, the third uses some AU and does more GW moving backwards. tho i think they still have mobile suits.

Ya know how some plot devices get so over used, they become fanon, well the GWxHP genre has one of its own, the FRA. Ive no idea who made it up, but dammit its in just about every GWxHP fic ever. Its not an implausible idea, 'family reconstruction act' basically set post gw, Relena or prevents or someone big makes a law to put peoples dna on record so war torn families can be reunited. Inevitably Harry's dna pops cause the law happened when he was young, and poof, somehow he's related to one of them, almost always Trowa.

Its a good way to bring them together, and Ive never found it to be too bad a route to go, course i dont get near as critical bout fics as you and Jo do, but ya know, im the reader, yall'r the writers. The obvious problem really comes in to how unlikely it is for any of them to be remotely related to Harry. Trowa's past is the easiest to manipulate, short of Duo's, but still, i think its reaching a bit, but the FRA itself is still a good route to go to bring the boys to Harry's front door.

I think that the HP world meshes well with most others. Its got that whole 'its magic theme' which works well to mesh with other shows. and the whole 'secluded hidden isolationist society' that means the gw war could have totally happened, suits, colonies and all, and 99% of the wizarding world wouldnt even know about it. even with a modern setting, satellites still blatant dont see them, so I dont see how space colonies would either, but yea, you could pull the GW group back just as well and with what you went over I could see it working. With Wu Fei, I think you could go with MeiRan having been involved with a Rebel group in China who was fighting against a 'European regeme' and got killed, so Fei goes under cover to find her murderer... finds Treize, duals him and loses, chases him back to London. Easy enough.

the whole Adults not reacting appropriately. yes I agree, happens constantly. Specially with the GW crew.

Poly Orgy - fuck yea.

Harry gets abused 100x more than in the books, every other fic, I can do without it happily. I mean its fun sometimes to see over abused, meek Harry suddenly getting loved and attention, but Id rather someone write Normal Harry.

Tho, if they did get him from an early age, by the time he gets to Hogwarts, yes I think I see him being, more mature, a crackshot with a pistol and theirfor having excellent aim with his want, much better at creative thinking/thinking outside the box, being well verse in multiple forms of martial arts, prolly knife fight and sword fighting, those lets be honest, he's 11, he aint no god-harry. He prolly learned all this but hasnt mastered any of it.

[identity profile] lordryous.livejournal.com 2012-06-28 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
(lol, never wrote so much i had to double post it )

As For how Quatre's in England... multi-trillion dollar global company with its fingers in many many pies. Obviously he has a main office in England. Tho I dont see Howard being organized crime, he was Salvage in the series, he could still manage that, maybe upscale arms production.

Heero as a Yuki-onna. Awesome idea. I liked the idea of Kitsune-Heero, but yea, yer right, evil-ice spirit Heero who freezes people with a glare, too perfect. Of course Duo is somehow immune ^^.

As Far as Dumbledor mindraping them. I can agree with that up to a point, I personally think Heero might make Dumbles cringe, that or he might have some form of natural Occlumancy. As for Quatre, I like to think mentally he's pretty powerful, enough at least to expel Dumbledor when he walks on in uninvited. I also love the idea of Quatre being able to fight back with his empathy, ie reverse empathy. Oh yer in my head, here feel all the hurt I go through every day.

I honestly would go on, this is prolly my favorite crossover genre, next to Garou, and thats pretty much all yer fault ^^, but since yer not actually gonna write this, i suppose theres not much point to any more speculation, tho if you do feel the need to jot anything down, im always happy to spew random ideas at you. Ive read em all honestly. ^^

go write some more Heero n wolf stuff ^^

ps fuck yea poly orgy. if you wanna read a good poly-orgy check out 'crossing barriers'. it was good enough that i actually watched seed so I would better understand the fic, even if annoying authors keep dropping good fics

Oh God, I would read the shit out of that. On the one hand, that summary is enough to make me so happy, but on the other hand it also makes me crave mooore. But yeah, you guys pushed my happy buttons. Thanks for that :D

Re: Harry's abusive childhood, I've been thinking about it a lot recently. My personnal headcanon is that when he gets his flat/house and eventually shares it with Ginny, there's a room for him to work/read/relax that really allows him to feel safe.
I mean, his cupboard was basically the safest place for him (for a time, at least, until he had to move on to flowerbeds), since there were no Dursleys in it, and I can see him keeping the habit to isolate himself when he grows up, especially when he's under pressure.
(I just can't see a kid like him being okay with sharing his personnal space with other people, but maybe the dormitory was okay because his bed had curtains? idk)
(possibly I'm full of shit, in which case nevermind)

Finally: poly orgy, yes, please.
