The genderbend AU fic meme is going awesomegood, by which I mean I WROTE 14 THINGS GUYS. which for me is astronomical. Sometimes I only manage three drabbles before I peter out. And I'm still going! ^o^ So far the only things I really fail at are the DCMK prompts. I don't know why, I have a really hard time figuring them out as genderbent. Maybe because I don't know them well enough, or maybe because they're all such stereotypical girls/boys, I don't know.

In real life news, urgh blood test. *curls arms defensively* I have to admit this time there's zero bruising, so she did it pretty well, but nrgh. It wasn't even that it hurt a lot, it's... I don't know, not the blood itself but maybe the expectation of pain, that you're going to have to sit here and not move and take it, I always get really dizzy and pale and nauseated. It's frustrating. I feel weak. I have well-hidden veins that roll under the needle so it's always a moment of "how am I going to get maimed this time around". It doesn't help that I'm probably going to have to do it bimonthly for a little while. ;__;

And now I have to pee in a bottle for the next 24 hours. this is VERY UNPRACTICAL, guys. D: Stupid hormone levels issues.

The more I think about it, the more difficult DCMK promts actually seem. If Ran had been a boy and Shinichi a girl then Shinichi may not have been taken in by the Mouri's. Unfortunately, the way society is it would seem a lot odder for two men living together to take in a young girl than a father and daughter taking in a young boy (or girl). People tend to be more accepting of a young woman wanting to take care of a kid than a guy wanting to do the same (Kogoro would be disinterested either way).

Shinich changing genders alone wouldn't have changed much, other than being in love with Ran if she's straight.

Kaito being a girl might not have changed a hell of a lot other than her not flipping Aoko's skirt as often (she wouldn't get the same reaction). Kaito's a performer either way. Though, if her Dad was Kid, then she might crossdress when she works to keep the illusion of it being the same Kid. Otherwise Snake wouldn't confess Toichi's murder to her. (Well, he might brag, I don't have enough of a handle on his character to know.) Aoko probably wouldn't change that much from boy to girl. Hakuba as a girl would probably not change too much either. Prim and proper lady and all that. (Why do I really want to see that now?)

If Heiji and Kazuha changed genders Kazuha's jealousy might not be considered as much of a joke. Though, if they were both boys then Kazuha's jealousy might just be friend!possessive if he's straight or pretty much the same if he's not. Ditto if they were both girls. (Though if Heiji was a girl there might be a lot of tension in the house as I think they'd try and raise her to be a lot like her mother, proper Japanese lady (though she'd still do kendo like her mum [unless that's fanon, I can't remember]... which wouldn't really work out considering Heiji's personality [I don't think it would change much, seems inborn not cultivated].)

I'm diabetic so I know all about needles. >.<

I don't have a problem with them, but my mother and girlfriend react rather badly to blood tests and such. My mom swoons, and gf just has the hidden veins, so technicians and nurses tend to bruise her pretty badly. :(

*hughughug* I'm sorry, hon! Blood tests suck, I know. I have never had someone take blood where it did not require more than one attempt. I have veins that appear deceptively easy to get to, and then they always miss them and I end up with painful bruises for the next part of forever. XP Also, the female body is not made for peeing in a bottle. They are doctors. How do they not know this?

Have lots of fruit juice before going? Or immediately after, if they need you to fast first or something. Only thing you can do for losing blood. X( Feel better!

Awesome! I'm glad for you being able to finish so many prompts, and not even because I'm selfish like that. It feels good to get a lot done.

Bleh, needles are ick, I'm sorry you have to go through that. I know it's best to take care of yourself but sometimes it seems like it'd just be easier to suffer. But just think, by the time you're done with what needs doing, you'll be so used to needle you'll be like, "Hey, stoppit, that tickles." Or something like that. In any case, the human mind can only sustain high levels of fear for so long, it sort gives up after awhile and coping mechanisms kick in. I wish you a sooner rather than a later and miraculously accurate stabbings in the meantime.
