baby names~

Anyone wanna help me find baby names for Teamwork's Team Seven kids? I already have the names I will use for them when they get there (the one Sakura is carrying now and the future ones I might never write about) but before Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura settle on them, they're going to go through LOTS of choices.

Okay so criterias! Japanese, boy, girl and unisex, not necessarily a "real" first name (lots of names in naruto aren't things anyone sane would name their kid, but apparently it's acceptable in Konoha), and not necessarily something you or I would like, but something the character would like -- even if it's so horrible it makes the other two go VETOED in a second. Sakura is going to look toward flower names (even for boys), Sasuke toward noble, heavily traditional or symbolic names, and Naruto, well, he's the one more likely to name his kid something that translates as "most orangey orange ever". That or ramen ingredients.

I think Sakura might like the name Nadeshiko for a girl. (it's a type of flower. ^^)

Just for the sake of poking fun, Naruto might consider naming their child (boy) "Ando", after the inventer of instant noodles. XD

Sakura's choice.... "Sumire" might sound like something she'd want. (means 'violet')

Yikes, Sasuke... y'know I have a hard time imagining him picking names for anything. O_O

There. That's pretty much all the Japanese names you'll ever need, unless you want something really weird :)

Hope it helps.

Muahahaha, this is one of my favorite parts of baby fics. and the reason my future husband and I will probably not name our child until it can choose one for itself...

Sasuke's suggestions: Saikou (revival, F), Sainen (revival, M), Nezumitori (rodent-trap [think weasel-trap] M/F?), Ihouko/ken (memory of deceased, M/F), Honkai/Honmou/Sukushi (long-cherished desire [finally he revives his clan], M) and finally, Ekika (moist, fleshy fruit such as tomatoes. :DDD)

Sakura: Hanakago (ceremonial petal/flower basket, M), Hanami (cherry-blossom viewing/flower viewing, F), Kabin (flower vase, M/F), Rinkei (flower bulb, M), Eninaru (pretty as a picture, F/M), and Zenchi (healing, M)

Naruto: Nasura (he made it up: NAruto, saSUke, sakuRA), Seimen (the art of noodle-making, M), Kamon (whirlpool design [to keep with the family], M], Kamako/ken/maru (toad, M/F), Idzuna (type of fox spirit [Kyuubi's suggestion?], F), and Midorigo (baby [nice and simple], M/F).

I honestly had too much fun with this, and I hope I helped you out a little!

YOU KNOW YOU WANNA NAME A KID MAKOTO. IT CAN BE FOR A BOY OR A GIRL.

Tru fax.

(shhhh, cheating on my homework monogamy...)

I can totally hear this conversation happening:

Naruto: Boys' names. Uhhh. Wakame! [seaweed often used in ramen] It's a plant, right? Or Hijiki! [also seaweed for ramen] Or or I know - Konbu! [seaweed used in nearly EVERYTHING soup-based, including ramen, udon, you name it...]

Sasuke: (facepalm)

Sakura (twitch twitch): I... appreciate your willingness to compromise on the plant names, Naruto, but naming anyone after something limp, green, and floppy... especially someone we want to continue to speak to us once he becomes a teenager and has a male ego to boost...

Naruto: Oh. Yeah. Heh heh. Um. Wasabi? It's a plant too...

Sasuke AND Sakura: (facepalm)

Naruto: No good? Um. Momiji? Could be a boy or a girl, and it's not limp and floppy--

Sakura (blink blink, thinking of momiji the maple tree): That's in danger of actually sounding nice.

Naruto (thinking of momiji-oroshi the daikon-and-hot-pepper-grated ramen condiment): --And we'd still be warning all the hormonal teenagers not to get too frisky with the tasting in about fifteen years or so. Eighteen. Twenty...

Sasuke: Naruto, Momiji is the name of that effeminate little rabbit-boy. No son of mine is going to be named--

Sakura: --Sasuke, you read Fruits Basket?

[mad carnage ensues... ^_~]

8D That one time I was bored and made up fan!spawn of Teamwork-universe OT3 in my head, their names were Kazuki, Fuji, Kichiro, and Kiku. They were a bit cliche-ish because lame is my default setting, but... Okay, so Fuji and Kichiro were fraternal twins, and the respective genetic fathers were Emo Boy - Emo Boy - Jesus Fists - Jesus Fists, and I had way too much time on my hands last year.

I seem to remember "Kazuki" had a really cool meaning. Something like...uh...harbinger, or beginning of a new line, or some such.

My humble suggestions

Koumyou - hope
Hakushi - chance
Shichi - seven
Yuri- Lily
Daiichi - first
Shoushi-midnight
Toushin - sword blade
Kyouki - dangerous weapon
Higi - secret ceremony
Koishi - beloved
Aiji - beloved child
Kouin - scion
Keishi - heir

This was hard I don't envy you having to choose. I got mostly stuff for Sasuke or Naruto to suggest.

Uhm, Tsubaki? Depending on the characters, I think, it's some sort of flower.

*grin* I actually had to to do this recently for plot purposes in my own fic. *goes looking for the names she vetoed in the end*

Well, there's always Ichirou, meaning "first son." I can see someone *cough* Sasuke *cough* being unoriginal and suggesting this.

Mei (broken down: me= bud or sprout, i= reliant, life, or clothing/garment) for a girl? Betcha Sakura would like it...

Naruto... er... Niboshi? They're dried, baby sardines sometimes found in ramen. I can see him offering this on the grounds that they're baby sardines... *grin*

I really like the name 'Takeshi'. It sounds kinda formal, and to me, something Sasuke would like. Or maybe I'm just dilutional. XP yeah, I dunno what it means, just that it sounds really noble and strong... and really close to 'Kakashi' -_-;;

[identity profile] mandy347.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Favorites so far:
Nasura (A great thing for Naruto to suggest)
Nadeshiko (Very pretty)
Shichi (Sounds like Naruto again, trying to put all three of them into this baby... if he does try this route, of naming the child something from all three of them, it can be either positive or negative... negatively, it can sound like he's being insecure again by putting in more effort than necessary to make sure each of them has a tie to this child))
Takeshi (I looked this up and the most popular meaning seemed to be warrior, so maybe Sasuke's suggestion, and a subtle nod to Kakashi)

Also:
Takahiro (filial piety)

Crack: Fuki (-ko/-maru)
Fuki can mean 1) accidental 2) a plant 3) violation of customs
Sasuke: *sigh* Naruto, if you're so damned determined to give this child an obvious or stupid name, why don't we just name her Fukiko and be done with it?
Sakura: *twitch*

[identity profile] kineko.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 08:11 am (UTC)(link)

I have a site that might be helpful (two if you count the differance in genders). The names seems to be pretty legit and authentic to me. I tend use it a lot because of the amount of names given. But yeh. XD

some I particularly liked
Kanji dependent meanings of course

Girl: Aiko (beloved one, beloved little one) because she is really their love child and the one very definite common factor they now have pulling them together

Girl: Airi (love + jasmine or pear (depending on kanji) Something Sakura would like, I'm sure.

Girl: Kohana (little flower) Pretty. Obviously a Sakura choice. Close enough to Konoha that Naruto would probably like it

Girl: Manami (beauty + love) such a girl choice, but its pretty

Girl: Nozomi (Hope), Saiko (colorful flower), Ran (orchid)

Boy: Isamu (courage, bravery) both of the boys would like it.

Boy: Takehiko (warrior boy/prince) seriously. The boys would loove this. lol.

Boy: Masaru (victory)

Boy: Yoshi (better, best) I just think both Sasuke and Naruto would be cocky enough to name their kid this

Boy: Kisho (one who knows his own mind) again, both of the boys are stubborn as hell. Their son probably would be too.

Really don't like...

Boy: Botan (peony) A flower boy name for you to veto!

[identity profile] kiiris-sasuke.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Aya
Sayuri
Mina
Those are the only ones that I could think of, and they all sound like something that at least one of them would hate. Sayuri was the name of a Geisha in a movie, so I think Sasuke would get rid of that one. ;)

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe that no one's suggested Botan yet... it means "peony" which would put it on Sakura's list.
ext_11844: (Default)

[identity profile] amarin-rose.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Kiseki (masculine) means miracle, and I think in her more hormonal moments Sakura might consider.

[identity profile] mignonne422.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
one more to put out there

Hitomi: meaning "pupil of the eye" apparently this name is given to girls who have especially beautiful eyes

I could see Sasuke suggesting this (cause it's an eye thing) if the baby is a girl and turns out to be his.

But, whoa, the pressure to develop the sharingan for that kid. Then again if neji or hinata ever have kids...lol...

[identity profile] the-deer-boy.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I read this in a gen fic. Sasuke sired an illegitamite daughter and named her Katana. I could see your Sasuke doing that as well and getting the -_-; look from Sakura and Naruto.

[identity profile] kyutaru.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Aisoku - eldest son
Keiko - totally a bitch name
Haruka - Sakura Haruno as well as meaning "Far away, distant, remote". Perfect Forehead Junior.
