I in no way advocate randomly swapping genders of majour characters in order to push them into otherwise gay pairings (I saw an absolutely dreadful fic where the author randomly made Naruto female to do a NaruHina Yuri fic).
So you disgusting perverts can put away all your sexy no jutsu, all your magic spells, all your potions and materias and whatever other crack reasons to see a character switch gender because it's wrong!
Naruto and boy!Hinata would not be awkwardly sweetfunnycute, girl!Naruto with Sakura/Temari/Ino would not be OH GOD THE HOT
Hermione being all interested and inquisitive, slightly weirded out/embarrassed but ready to experiment with either of her boys anyway

A little explanation... On dA someone was joking with me that naruko/hinata was hotter than plain normal naruhina, and boy!hinata might make for some nice yaoi naruhina. I laughed, and then I was all "yeah, maybe i should write it" while not seriously intending to... Until I landed on a wanky post that uses the linked quote about how OMG they don't advocate gendersbender fics. *eyerolls so hard it hurts*
NOW I HAVE TO. Except umm i'm not sure I'll go very far, but now I'm filled with the urge to read a bazilion and one genderbending fics -- drabbles, long fics, crack or not, whatever. I HUNGEEER.

And I have no recollection of the rest of the story, but once I read a HP fic where Blaise changed from girl to guy based on Ranma except that it was a spell his mom did before he was born and not a magic spring that caused it.

Though a half-decent manga, Family Compo, is on mangavolume.com.
I really must say that the manga should never, ever be considered a good reference for trans* etiquette or experiences. It is a cute comedy with trans*folk and some cross-dressing though.

The fact that the rest of the party was looking at him with large eyes didn't help him deal with the boob-factor at all. Nor the rather, um, hungry look that Aeris and Tifa shared as they glanced at each other and then at him...her?
"I remember a materia Zack found once, a long time ago," Aeris said helpfully, moving up to link her arm with one of Cloud's, Tifa claiming the other.
"I think I hate Wutai," Cloud said calmly as the ladies started to move them away from the others, who were still staring.
"I think I like it," Tifa said, smiling at him. "We're going to go talk to Cloud, everyone. Probably should set up camp soon."
Cloud heard Cid mutter something about "talking" in sarcastic tones, and wasn't sure if he should be embarrass or not, but what Aeris was whispering into his ear was more than a little distracting. Embarrassment later. Right now, he was going to let the girls distract him.
