*TRUMPETS*

I R TEH BACK.

Yeah, I know I said two weeks and in the end it was only like ten days...

... my parents got bored. >D

I brought like half my collection of old books, amongst which all i've got of Valdemar, dragonriders of Pern and even some Darkover. (which I don't really love actually, but hey, it was readable anyway.) Finished them by the fifth day. =____=; Then yay found a lost Obsidian Butterfly in a supermarket :O shush, I like Anita Blake, so what. Well, what's been translated into french so far, at least. I've got an english copy of Incubus Dreams and there are neat scenes, buut. Sex, Richard-bashing, sex, random violence, sex, false hints of plot, sex, sex and blood, violence, death, bloodysex, sex, the end. Dude, I like a good sex scene, but those were BORING, which is already annoying, and USELESS, which is even more aggravating. And the hints of plot never materialized into anything... I digress. Obsidian Butterfly is the one with Edward, and I lurve Edward. *_*

what I'd love is seeing a book where Jean Claude tops Richard mmmh *cough* and Richard stops being an utter bastard for no other reason that the author based him on her husband and she doesn't lurve her hubby no more or something. I don't especially love Richard, but dude, he got the short end of the stick. Anita, you can keep being a slut if you remember that those two come first. Nathaniel is teh cute, and yes, you do need a little wifey, but Micah... uh. *peers at* does he actually have a personality? Maybe because i've missed the book where he first appears, but I just... can't get him, apart from "zomg another of anita's soulmates, except more soulmaty than the rest." He's like Richard Lite, Wholesome Furry Boy, 70% more Angsty Past, 70% less manly. As for all her vampire servants and pals and fuckbuddies but they lurve her and she doesn't really lurve them back but... hrrm. So long as they stay fuckbuddies, i'm all for it, but hey, i'm getting tired of the "I am SO monogamous, WOE. Which means I cannot love YOU, YOU, YOU and YOU, sorry for breaking your hearts with my awesomeness. I can only have meaningless falling on your dicks at random, sry. All the hotter/specialer ones, queue's to the left."

The rest of my vacation was comprised of walks in the woods, swimming in the river, and driving around (whee) to high places where we could walk around other mountains and swim in other spots of the river. It's awesomely pretty, and I'll post pics when I get them.

But dude. DUDE. Five days, alright. NOT TEN. Basically the only things to do there are swimming, walking, fishing and taking pretty pictures. My dad loves the camera more than any of his children, which means me no touchies, ans as for fishing, none of us even knows how. So blergh.

It was alright, in the end, even though by the last couple of days I was doing a whole lot of nothing, ( I WAS REDUCED TO READ SPORTS MAGAZINES!!! D: ) but i'm so so so so glad it didn't last longer, because I would have died.

+

I WROTE SOME TEAMWORK. *does a victory dance*

... Not the scene I need to complete, though. But the next one is halfdone, and I have notes for the one after that, with Jiraiya. ♥

I'm a whore for reviews, so I'm thinking of posting the first half of chapter six early... *cough* But isn't it a tad ridiculous to post "chapter 6 part 1", "chapter 6 part 2" and have both of them be like three times the size of most people's chapters. XD Ah, me and my posting order. nooooo, change of chapter means change of POV!!! *obsess obsess* oh whatever, I can so post "chapter 6 part 1" and have it be 30 pages long if I want, so there.

Also have notes for an ItaSasu oneshot thinger, but I noted it down at like four AM with a flashlight under my blanket in betweet two yawns, so perhaps it sucks too much to deserve being written. Oh well. XD

ANYWAY. enough babble for now yayz. Now I shall face the most fearsome task... *drumrolls* The f-list.

...um, maybe after I catch up on my online comics, alright? :DDD;;

Welcome back! (lol)

[identity profile] kali-sama.livejournal.com 2006-08-06 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Obsidian Butterfly is the last good AB book, IMO. After that, it just degernerates into random, badly written, cliched sex with the occasional hint of plot or relationship angst. And no, Micah really doesn't have a personality, even if you read Narcissus in Chains, when he appeared. He just showed up, fucked Anita in the shower, and became her soulmate, which seems to mean that he must agree with everything she says and have no opinion of his own.

I have this image in my mind of you doing a little victory dance. Even more so if you WERE reduced to reading sports magazines. XD Ah well, at least you got your fill of bucolic backgrounds and such. You didn't get bitte by any Squirrels of Doom, I hope?

WELCOME BAAAAAAAAAAACK! *snugs*

Good you're back :D

It's a shame you don't know how to fish, it can be a little boring for most of people but I love it.

I promise that when you post something about teamwork I'll review :D

*loves on her Meredith Gentry series, where at least the sex has a damn -point-* I really liked Anita Blake at the beginning, but it's just...porn without much plot anymore, and I can read it done better by fanfic people. >.> Though I do like my porn with a dash more plot cause it's tasty like that. But, yeah, Edward is the awesome. He just is. *wants Edward back* Nathaniel is the pretty. Have you ever read Hellmouth Hotel? It's yummy goodness, and is a Buffy and Anita Blake cross over that's really, really good. And unfinished. *whines* Oh, though it does have Stargate SG-1 in it now as well.

And... *happy bouncy squee over more Teamwork being done* You and that Team7 gateway drug of yours. >.> 8goes to reread first Teamword* Also, love on the Valdamar series. *just introduced someone to Last Herald Mage the other day*

Glad to see you back.

[identity profile] reversedhymnal.livejournal.com 2006-08-06 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
<.< Though I have to admit that the last Merry Gentry was a little much in the porn department. Maybe if I had read it in pieces, instead...?

But I'm also a little giddy in a mean, evil sort of way, because in the next book she says she has to kill people as opposed to just solving everything with sex, and I kind of flail happily at that. Because, um. TRAUMA IS INTERESTING.

Merry Gentry is ♥

(and i'm kind of totally in love with doyle, zomg)

Heh, I really loved the Anita Blake series too...until it degenerated into random, badly-written porn interspersed with Anita angsting about said porn, because oh-woe-is-her, having to fuck with many, many hotties all the time. And, just to explain it, Richard is based on LKH's now-ex, and Micah is based on her new husband.

Anyway, glad to see you're back, and glad to hear you've been working through your block on Teamwork.

[identity profile] yuenoclow.livejournal.com 2006-08-06 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome back! ...Yeah, there really is only so much you can do while camping if there aren't actual activities going on. Like horseback riding on trails and such. Or whitewater rafting, which is *fun*! But yeah. And erk, wasps! Evil evil things, wasps... hell, stinging insects in general are pure evil. Gah.

Oooo, Valdemar series... Do you have a particular favorite series/book? I really like Alberich's books myself. Though the Last Herald Mage trilogy is good too. Angsty as hell, but good.

Any Teamwork you post, I shall review with great enthusiasm. ^^ Hell, you managed to convert my friend into actually acknowledging that it is possible to find good fanfiction with threesomes. *grins*

Ugh, catching up the flist.... I've been away from home for two weeks and will be away for about two more. A dial-up connection is not robust enough to keep up with my flist. :(

So I've just been checking in on close friends, waiting for you to get back and be all inspired to write, and hoping Jo and Des would write something (which they have both done, yay!)

So far, I have agreed with everything everyone has said about the Anita Blake series. I love it, but it has definelty degenerated.

I, being the boishly-raised being that I am, propably would have enjoied your trip....I love all of the above on the things to do list.

YAY! TEAMWORK! And that really sums up THAT topic....

Hee, I resorted to Laurell K Hamilton when I was stranded on a camping trip, actually. Though it was the Merry Gentry series, and I kind of fell in love, because Merry didn't have quite so many angry!hate!ridiculous issues soved up her ass. I like a woman whose into polygamy and accepts it, rather than drags her loved ones through pain and shit and blah because of her hangups. *thumps anita*

ROCK. ON. except that i really kind of love micah, ♥

And, TEAMWORKYAY! No it is not ridiculous. It is considered a blessing. ♥♥

I just back in in from OTAKON a few hours ago. They had a Gaia (sp?) stand there...

I saw it and it reminded me of you...

I would have bought something for you to be shipped. Sadly, I don't know what you like/already have. :(

Micah's a much deeper character than you've seen, apparently. Shoot me an email and I can get you the first twelve books in English, at least. *He chuckles.*

Anyhow... Reading all the books in order gives you a much better picture of Anita's lovelife and her thoughts on it. Especially if you run through them in order, starting one as soon as you finish the last.

Not sure what reading them in french does to the original text...

!!! Asuka-saaan~! I missed you! ;-; The friendslist was lonely without your posts~ ♥♥♥

Oh! And I've been dying to tell you something that is nifty as hell: I have a friend in real life who lurks on your journal. XD (And if she's reading this, hiiiii~ ♥) It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, it started when we were talking about a fic written by you--the Harry Potter crack crossover, I think?--and I knew exactly who she was talking about and mentioned that I knew you. Now we may have plans to dress up my Narufox plushie in a little orange kimono based on one of the Saki-chan fan-fanfics. And I'm tempted to make a Saki-outfit for the Sasukitty. *grin*

I love the Anita Blake series but Obsidian Butterfly was the last of the good books. I wish LKH would get back to that style of writing.

[identity profile] drich.livejournal.com 2006-08-07 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed with all of the above regarding AB and OB.

A caveat with this latest book, Danse Macabre, is that there is a *small* amount of acceptance, emotional growth, and moving-on in the whole relationship polygon, as well as some *miniscule* explanations and plot development (like Micah's role). Not much mind you, since every scene that brought up important points/holes that have been hanging around for the last few books got derailed into a sexual talk or activity. And then oops, it's time to go off to do other things and save the city, don't-cha-know, leaving the poor plot point/hole to hang for another book.

It feels like a holding pattern while LKH tries to figure out how to get out of the corners she's backed herself into.

On the plus(?) side, she has finally started exploring more of the male-male relationships and providing sex scenes. Again, as stated above, I've read better written fanfiction. These books do well in the mainstream, however, so it is nice that someone that has publishing clout ($$) is getting an exploratory, desensitizing view out to the masses. The more acceptable and commonplace you can make something (like homosexuality), the more it is treated as acceptable and commonplace.

Urk, done with discourse and rant now.

Yay, Asuka is back! Life is all shiny again!

I keep reading the anita books, bitching all the way. I really, really, REALLY hate Laurell Hamilton. She's an awful writer, and what's worse is she gets paid for it. And she refuses to allow fanfiction, probably because she knows that 15-year-olds could make her stories better. < /rant >
