UWAH. HELP PLZ.

I can't animate icons. And this... seriously needs to be animated. Like. RLY.





Not sure the first two are necessary, so if the icon is over the LJ size, we can do without one of them or even the two. I already had to reduce the qulity of the pics a lot and now they look ugly. T_T

'course, it shall be entirely credit-free, what with it being sailor_comet's words, my tinkering and someone else's (or several someone elses!) animation. Beside, we need to share the word. XD

Oh, and while I'm icon-whoring,



edit: WOOHOO! and we have now several versions in the comments. Thanks guys! (oh hey, if you're all so much better than me, maybe you could make an icon that fits the size limit and yet doesn't look crappy!! so I think i'm gonna redo my separate icons in better quality and see if anyone wanna tackle them. *^^* the separate icons are now of better quality, anyone feels like trying again? ^____^;;;;;;;;

While I've noticed several nice people have already animated this for you, I do know a few free programs for animating stuff. They run the gambit from something robust like GIMP(of which animation is only a small part of what it can do) to simple programs where all they do is turn other images into animated gifs or pngs.

Wasn't sure if you want to touch your toes into doing animated images yourself or not? If you are I'll dig up the info I sent to a friend awhile back.

Really? Not trying to butt in, but do you know of anything free that will run on Mac OS X? I've been searching but I can't find anything. =/

GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) does run with MAC OS X. I had a friend in college who use to run it. I'm not sure how involved it will be to install though. It looks pretty simple from the install page though, but I'm pretty ignorant about MAC OS X. Windows just involves installing GTK and GIMP which are already prepackaged and just need to be downloaded and run to install.
The other little programs I know about are windows only though I think... =/

I use GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) for pretty much all my computer art stuff. Mostly cause I had to find an alternative to adobe when I no longer had access to the school computer labs. One of the nifty little functions it has standard with the base install is the ability to save a layered file into animate gifs and pngs. So I simple load the different images into seperate layers in the same file, edit them, preview the animated image, tinker as need be and save as an animted image.

I've never done anything more complicated then simple slideshow animations though. There is also a more advance plug in that lets you do more advance stuff then simple frame animations but I've never played with it. But it can be found here (http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/old.html)

The following are programs I know other people use and have seen recommended several times. Since I use GIMP for my editing though I just use it to animate so I've no personal experience with them.
