Beginning: sufficiently dramatic, with a pink shooting star exploding over a forest. In the morning, there is a suspiciously glowing stone in the crater.


Title: "encounter with a boy named Star".

Cut to Konoha through clouds -- kinda neat, might keep for AMV.

Cut to Tsunade and a messenger pigeon with a star-engraved ring on its leg. ... don't they use hawks for messages?

The pigeon likes Tsunade's head. Uh huh.

HIDDEN STAR VILLAGE WHAT.


... AWWWW Naruto and Sakura are on a date! Okay they're only having tea together. (oh, god. Art. UGLY. Sakura looks like A MAN. Shoulderrrsss nooooo.)

Apparently the star falling happened 200 years ago, and then the Star village was created (laaaaame). The stone has an effect on chakra and "mysterious powers". AND IT'S PINK, DID I MENTION IT'S PINK. MARY-SUE, WE'RE ONTO YOU.


... And Naruto, in a fit of unprecedented filler-induced stupid, decides to invite himself to the mission. As in, he joins Neji, Tenten and Lee as they're already almost arrived. (Gai? Who's that? Genin on a mission need no stinkin teacher) Oh and he also decides to run on ahead when Neji just warned his team that they'd approach cautiously, the area around the village being dangerous. Mmmh, I'm gonna like this episode, I can feel it already and we're only six minutes in.


... oookay. Cut to Tsunade and Shizune.

Shizune: *understandably alarmed that Naruto decided to join a mission with no warning.*
Tsunade: *eating* oh yeah, I added him to the mission. They had good results with (the ghost-arc) and the village will be quiet now.
So at least it means Naruto didn't leave totally randomly, at least -- but she 1) didn't warn anyone else that she was tacking Naruto onto that mission and 2) did it FOR PEACE AND QUIET. It must be the pigeon, which by the way is still nesting on her head. The beast must have brain-melting powers.

Shizune then questions her on the wisdom of the decision. Tsunade goes chibi and randomly chokes with a phallic-looking bit of cake-thing. Uh-huh. Yeah, I'm wtfing too.


Cut to... Star Genins apparently. Wow, this is the first time in Naruto that I actually get which ones are girls and which ones are boys wrong. Good thing the voices are good clues.

Then Naruto tries to climb down a cliff into suspiciously green mist stuff (there are skeletons at the bottom, mmmh, so bright.) Then a guy (?) with a gas mask throws arrows at him, and then they start to fight. The guy has kyuubi-like (in that it can be made solid enough to stop and grab (?) stuff) pink chakra.


And I stopped watching here because i was starting to develop a twitch in my left eyelid. For real. (though, okay, that's probably not due to the anime only since it's been happening on and off for the last week, but hey. The sentiment still works. XD) I dunno if I like the new characters' design, but man, their village looks really pathetic. But mostly it's Naruto's lameness that's boring me. It's not even a horrid, horrid episode so far, but. Bleh. Unmotivated to make myself go throuh it right now.

In fact I kinda want to write. But I also kinda don't know what to write. And I also kinda haven't written all the drabbles I offered last time I let people challenge me, so, I think it would not be wise of me to offer again. =_=;

... but... ;_; maybe if this time I really tried hard to keep the bunnies under 100 words? Maybe if I didn't let them run away and breed like mad and demand an actual 1000-words-at-least real story?

... yeah, I'm not convinced either, but I also have next to no impulse control. u_u;;

-I like Naruto more. (I can try most pairings. Challenge me to write anyone/gaara or anyone/itachi at your own risk. I dare you.)

-If you're going to request a Teamwork drabble, please try to ask for anything BUT things about the baby -- unless you have a specific and original idea. i'm getting a bit burned out on "people's reaction to baby" ficlets.

-if you must challenge me on Garou, I'd prefer stuff that's NOT spoiler-inducing; I also don't like writing Quatre or Trowa or the Ozzies all that much.

-It might not be what you expected/had in mind. BWAH. i'm evil like that.

-And I'd rather have imaginative prompts plz. (though even if they ARE imaginative, I don't promise that they WILL spark off something in my head. If I can't write what you asked for, I will ask you for another prompt.)

-As my mental boner still hasn't come back and I probably cannot write anything higher than R-rated, be advised that "sex", "lemon" and "smut" are not valid answers. Neither is "pheromones".

As for Kurenai's dress, I had a long discussion about it with joisbishmyoga who had lots of great ideas, and any ideas I would use would only be stealing hers since I frankly don't care enough about Kurenai myself to think about her all that much. But then I don't care much about any of the teachers in general.

I'd suggest more pairings, but I believe I have been permanently traumatized by recent suck-fic readings on the subjects of Gaara/Hinata (I dearly love these characters and. They. Should. Not. Be. Mistreated. So.) and Itachi/Naruto/Sasuke.

oh boy....ok, I have one. Its a monster, make no mistake. I was struck with the idea of bringing life to this unholy combination long ago. Since then I've attempted numerous times to write up a story, and each time lightning refused to strike. So maybe you can play Doctor Frankenstein for me.

Its a "pairing" for the Naruto_ot3 community. The trio involved here would be Sakura, Lee...and Gaara.

I can see the look now. Lemme explain....

It always felt unfortunate that Sakura and Gaara had to meet when they did. There's a great deal about both of them that could draw them together. Consider that Gaara is a kindred spirit of both Sasuke and Naruto. Like Sasuke he has suffered betrayals by those closest to him. He struggles every day with that pain, trying not to drown in his own darkness. Sakura, in large part thanks to the kindness Ino showed her as a child, is often trying to be the one to heal the hurts and help the suffering ones along. Its what drew her to Sasuke (combined with the obsessive crush that was the standard for all the girls of Konoha towards the Uchiha). Unlike Sasuke, Gaara might still be reachable.

On the opposite side of things, Gaara shares some traits with Naruto as well. He has been alone all his life, and he knows what means to yearn for acknowledgement. Sakura, although her past is nowhere near as tragic, has had her share of loneliness. Her desires to be acknowledged by Sasuke resonated with Naruto, and attracted him to the pink haired girl. Perhaps the same could happen with Gaara.

So it really is a shame they met when they did. Sakura still caught between being a school girl with pretty dreams and a serious ninja. Gaara, caught up in his own pain and hate, willing being fed fury and madness by the monster inside him. They met as enemies, and that meeting is going to color any interactions they have with each other.

This is sad, because they both need someone. Sakura has abandoned most of her school girl fralities, but her love interest has turned toward the obsessive. She pushes herself, challenges herself, but she's still alone. Her training is threatening to consume her, until she is full of the same bitterness that has made her teacher so miserable through the majority of her life. Sakura still has room for hope, fortunately, but its a little candle she keeps close to her. What happens if it goes out? Gaara, on the other hand, has put his hatred behind him. But what does he have to show? Love is still a painful, confusing word to him. Admired as he is by his people, he still does not believe anyone really cares for him. Maybe he expects to be betrayed again? He immulates and admires Naruto, but he is still alone.

So, both of them are spiraling downwards, and neither of them sees it. They could take strength from each other, but their past forms a gulf between them. Nothing could ever bridge that.

Then again, nothing might be too strong a word, especially when we're dealing with someone who takes the impossible as a personal challenge. Rock Lee is the kind of guy that takes strife and punches it in the guts. If it can be done, he will do it, and if it can't be done he'll do three hundred sit ups and then do it anyway. The green beast of Konoha is a protector above all else, and there's nothing he fights more furiously for than his "precious person". Or perhaps, persons.

Thought a bit about it. Can you tell? Anyway, sorry for the long sales pitch. Take it if it sparks any interest, and leave it if it does not.

XD heh, no problem. But if your ideas are that developed already, it seems to me that you have enough material to write your own fic. ^__^ Do you write? If not, you should try it ^^ you seem fairly articulate, so you already have a head start on many aspiring writers. XD

I agree with a good portion of your analysis, too -- it could definitely work the way you said in the hands of a good writer. ^^ probably not gonna be me, though, because it would require lots of time and thinking about it and frankly, neither Gaara nor Lee are amongst my favorite characters ^^;
