(GW) garou, chapter 34, first two scenes
I'll answer to people's ficcage later, promise. I did read them -- even tho I shouldn't have because I should have been translating. XD
Also have a mini rant on a stupid review I got, but i'm fighting the urge to wank in public.enable me plz.

The infiltration was rather easy, finally. It was snowing lightly, and the guards' visibility was considerably shortened. On top of that, the soldiers were distracted from outside threats by the conference being held at this very moment, knowing that if something went wrong between Romafeller and OZ they'd have to react very fast, and the two factions spent almost as much time glaring at each other than watching their surroundings.
In the end, Trowa and Quatre didn't even need to attack anyone. Trowa was noticed twice while he opened the way, and since he was wearing an OZ uniform and moved like he knew exactly where he was going, no one ever thought of stopping him.
It was going way too easily for Quatre's peace of mind. He just hoped the dozen of contingency plans he was thinking up would be enough.

The meeting was dragging its metaphorical heels. Noin was bored to tears; everyone was prattling on and dancing around subjects, and the only things she needed to do were stand behind Zechs, watch the exits and the other assistants, and hand over documents and references in case he needed them. Which rarely happened because Zechs' memory worked just fine and he remembered what he needed to support his arguments on his own.
Finally, his Romafeller counterpart concluded and got up, and she sighed discreetly, relieved. End of the meeting?
Apparently not, because now they were back to exchanging empty and apparently innocent politeness. She didn't listen to the exact words; one of the reasons why she'd never rise any higher in the ranks was her total lack of interest for underhanded, poisoned barbs wrapped in smooth smiles that were so necessary to politics.
As long as Zechs had been able to concentrate on concrete decision, he'd been in perfect control, but when the enemy Colonel leaned toward him with a falsely friendly smile, patted his shoulder paternally and asked with solicitude how he was feeling these days, he growled. Noin jumped. He was growing tense, as if about to pounce. Neither Zechs nor General Kushrenada, nor Une, Otto or herself had managed to determine to which point the animal stayed present during the waning moon, and she had hoped...
Noin rushed to his side, touched his arm to distract him, and asked in a mildly concerned tone: "Still that cold?"
It was one of the worst lies she'd ever tried, but she couldn't think of anything else. She could see the Rommies watch them strangely and could only hope that Zechs play along. Luckily, Zechs got it and started coughing softly, as if trying to control a huge coughing fit. Cutting short the usual post-meeting proceedings, Noin excused them both and guided him -- or dragged him -- out of the room, firmly pushing out of her mind a vision of muscles tearing under her hand, of a mouth full of fangs snapping closed on her throat. Otto followed, expressionless, placing himself on the other side of the Colonel the second the heavy door of the meeting room closed behind them.
"Zechs?"
He growled again, his face slowly twisting in anger. Otto and Noin exchanged an alarmed look, wondering if they should run.
"Zechs, calm down. What's the problem?" she asked calmly, hoping to get his aggressive instincts to go back to sleep.
He didn't answer, pushing them off before stalking with long steps down the corridor. Reaching the end, he turned left without hesitation. Noin tried to follow, bus Otto held her back.
"Give him some space, Lieutenant," he advised.
She acquiesced, horrified. It was the first time since the full moon that he... that he... relapsed. There, that was a relapse, she told herself as she followed him, giving him a wide berth. It was an illness, a catastrophe even, but not a curse. He was still the man she'd met at the Academy. He just had a ... problem.
A problem they were still trying to define limits and conditions of. A problem that was more than probably highly contagious, and could prove fatal for his circle of friends and subordinates.
Otto tapped her shoulder, pulling her out of her musings.
Not waiting for them, the blond man was advancing in the corridors without hesitation, as if following something. He hesitated sometimes at crossroads, but, following clues that Noin and Otto couldn't discern, always found the tracks again.
Finally they arrived to a computer room. Zechs stepped over the knocked out guards without even looking at them; Otto checked that they were alive while Noin followed Zechs inside, weapon in hand.
Zechs checked the room thoroughly, growling once again when he caught sight of a computer just as it went back to sleep mode.
"They left."
"Are you sure?" Noin asked, finishing her methodic check of the rows of desks.
Zechs opened his mouth as if he was going to snap back rudely, then closed it and nodded instead. Noin felt a knot of fear untie inside her; he was going back to normal.
"I'm sure," he affirmed in a still intense, but not as aggressive voice. "I'd ... smell them."
It always threw her to be reminded of his senses.
"Can you guess how long ago they left?" Otto asked calmly as he joined them inside.
The blond man shook his head, clearly frustrated.
"Not that long..."
He sighed and, giving way to his frustration, hit the wall with his fist.
The air vent grate detached from the wall slowly and fell on the floor, clanging loudly. At the very end of the tunnel, something that could have been a rat disappeared in another conduit. Except it was a shoe.
"... I see what you meant," Noin commented in a strangled tone as she reached out to hit the alarm.

I like the dynamic you've got going with Noin... her loyalty battling underneath that professional exterior, with her fear. Nicely done. She and Otto make an interesting team. They are usually at odds with one another in fics, and it's a different take to see them working together to protect Zechs. Well... as much as Zechs will allow. ^^;

I like noin. ;_; she's so cool. (except when she dresses à la cowboy and goes all "ohhh zeeechs". hn.)
of course been ages since i watched the show, but i didn't get the impression that noin and otto dislike each other.o_o besides they both put zechs before anything else. ^^

See, for about three weeks, General Treize and Commander Zechs are sick. very sick. and suffering from mild to severe dementia attacks -- snarling, attacking people randomly, unable to recognize people and the like. Their health is getting worse and worse.
You're their right hand women. You admire and respect and maybe love them a bit. you're scared to death that they're dying and no one knows why.
And then they transform into huge furry beasts, complete with bones breaking and reshaping quite visibly under the skin, fur sprouting out of the skin, organs making wet noises as they move into new spots and everything -- and that's not counting the howls of debilitating pain -- and then they have nothing more pressing to do than dash out of the cabin on all fours and HUNT.
And you lock yourself in the cabin for the night, and you're scared out of your wits, and you throw up. and maybe even have a minor breakdown. a few weeks later, you're still freaked out and not understanding what the hell happened, but you still stand by your superior, still do your duty and still feel worried as hell for them, because they don't get it even more than you do, and it has to be even scarier from their point of view.
I fail to see how any of that proves that you're "not as supportive as the Gboys", who a) were told about the facts BEFORE they had to see it happen, b) were advised and reassured by someone who was a werewolf all her life and c) have a doctor who is actually researching that stuff. *stomps on things* It's NOT like coming out about being gay damnit!! Noin and Une have a RIGHT to be freaked out, and even to throw up and lock themselves in and feel totally lost!!! Frankly, it proves how loyal and strong they are that they didn't totally lose it and run away. RRRRGH.

did that sentence make sense...? Sorry, the tireder I get, the longer my sentences start getting... ^^;;

Um, i'm missing the point here -- what i mean is, they had a month to notice that heero was acting weirder and weirder, and then Duo SAW him change. Also, heero was bitten by a hugeass wolf, whereass Treize caught it through kissies and Zechs through blood transfusion.
So, yeah, they could have been more weirded out, but they're extremely dedicated and desperately tried not to lose time by losing it. Now that i'm thinking of it, they could and maybe should indeed have reacted more violently. hmm. will have to read back. (except my english back then hurts my soul and i can't look at it without twitching XD)

And in reference to the rant: I am totally with you. If I had to see the man I admired and loved go through something like that, I would be damned lucky to handle it as well as Noin and Une did. And Treize and Zechs can't be of much help seeing as how they don't even have a clue how it happened in the first place. ::shakes head:: Do most people just not get that? It would be VERY WEIRD to see this from Noin's POV. they would freak out too, no matter what they say.
In short: Bravo.

He just hoped the dozen of contingency plans he was thinking up would be enough. --Kill the 'of'. It is evil and misplaced.
As long as Zechs had been able to concentrate on concrete decision, he'd been in perfect control, --I think you mean 'decisions, although I'm somewhat confused by the phrase in general. Do you mean that he was okay so long as he and the other guy were interacting within the framework of a professional meeting, but he snapped when it got more personal?
She could see the Rommies watching them strangely and could only hope that Zechs would play along. Luckily, Zechs got it and started coughing softly, as if trying to control a huge coughing fit. --I changed the verbs because they were screwy. Also, using 'coughing' twice in one sentence is perhaps a bit much.
Noin tried to follow, bus Otto held her back. --Typo.

Ow, the animal instincts, though troublesome, proved quite useful for once... ^^ I love how you've portrayed the girls' reactions! They were realistic for one
if not made just to fit into every stuck-up's personal fantasies or something *growls* -.-and much milder than mine would have been, had I been in their places.Translating the whole thing must be quite annoying *much web-ish support* >.< I'd love to know the General's and Zechs POV on the events, and surely to read what happens with our Amazing Five and their own take on the Ozzies leaders transformations. Will they find out for sure? When? How??? *loves on and patiently anticipates for more* ^.^
And don't ever let stupid pricks get you down; we all know that they are so not worth your attention, much less your frustration

translating is boring as hell, but weirdly i have more patience for the english version than for the french one. Maybe because i don't feel as emotionally involved in the english version due to it not being my mother tongue or something.
General and Zechsy... hm. that comes later, i think. I'd have to read the outlines again. =_=; We do see zechs and treize the nextest chapter, i'm sure i can add hints as to how they take it. It's duo-centric and with 1+2, so the fangirls should stfu by then... if i ever complete it. =.=
... heh. ^-^ <3<3<3

(Anonymous) 2005-10-13 12:45 am (UTC)(link)She always brings up the things you seem to like - the weird relationships, the never-truly-breakable bonds teamwork seems to form, the blurry feelings you identify.
Most of the fics are Team 7-centric, more or less, but since you were looking for not-quite-romance and Sasuke, you'd better read "Blood Equals Thicker" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2520811/1/). One-shot, introspective, set after Sasuke leaves for the Sound, no pairings unless you look at it sideways. Sasuke thinking about the things he doesn't allow hiself to hold dear.

So I tried. And I dedicate it to you anyways. *sigh*
Goosebump shudder and Kyuubi is gonna get out out and out, walking/prowling/sliding around and yeah but just watch him go ‘cuz there’s no way you’re going to stop him baby, no way at all. Just you and him and the brat and the bitch and hey, he can deal with that. He can deal with that just fine if this little tame fox can roam a bit, can claim a bit, of what is his and should be his and will be his if you just wait. Just a bit longer. He’s made plans, plans and damn lies and he’s mixing up the phrases, mixing up everything he’s siphoned off the brat’s brain, but that’s okay. He has time. He’ll remember it again ‘cuz that’s all he can do, baby .That’s all he can do inside there, waiting and whispering and remembering every damn thing that’s happened to him so that he can plan. Everything you’ve done, your fucking ancestors have done, and Kyuubi’ll get you. He’ll get you and tear you and love you and leave you, just like you deserve. You know it and he’ll use that. He’ll use that like he’ll use and conquer and mark the bitch the brat and all that is his, baby, all that is his. You’re all his, his his his forever. Just wait. Kyuubi’s gonna get you hard vicious swift and good.
[and and the mixing up the phrases comes from the fact that the phrase originally branched off of 'lies, damn lies and statistics']

question ^^?
Thank you very much for two new chapters :3
I'm writing to ask why the doctor and the nurse that took care of Zechs died after he bite them? Was it because it was too close to full moon and they wouldn't have enough time to change?
And well sorry if I seem pushy, it's just a suggestion, but when I read about Wufei's transformation I just thought that a white tiger would suite him more than a regular one. (or maybe PANDA ^_^)
Re: question ^^?
The doctor was well in his fifties. He just wasn't healthy enough to survive the change. The nurse would have been a mouse or a rabbit -- way too small and weak-willed to pull through. Not counting the fact that they were contaminated later -- Treize had a whole month, Zechs had only three weeks and a half which is why he got it a lot worse than Treize, even though he's so strong and healthy. The nurse and doctor would have had two weeks or less, and while neither was sick or weak, they weren't as fit as zechs or treize.
As for the colorings, I thought about it; but they turn into the archetype of the animal that their soul is the closest to, and unless there's a good reason (and "it looks cool" isn't really a good reason), they're always colored like their human version's hair.
Wufei doesn't consider himself special and royal enough to be a white tiger, nor do people in general attach values to white tigers that yellow ones don't get, aside from maybe rarity.
Wufei's a bronze-yellow tiger because that's more or less the color of his skin.
-Not-patterned animals get to be the color of the person's hair (meaning, yeah, you could have a blond puma. Or a black arctic bear. The color doesn't have to be natural for the animal in question)
-patterned animals -- well let's put it that way, if Quatre was exactly the same character he is right now, but he had red hair, he would be a red-furred cheetah. If he had black hair, he would be a cheetah-colored cheetah, because the black of his hair would reflect in the patterns and not the rest of his fur. The patterns need to be visible because they define the animal, which is why this is a special case.
Panda: ... huh. Pandas are calm, placid plant-eating creatures. Aside from the fact that non-predators rarely survive the change, I don't really see Wufei as anything that calm and peaceful. Even when he was a scholar, he was snarky and asocial. It isn't because he's chinese that he has to be a panda.
Re: question ^^?
Panda was just a small joke on my part ^_^ I thought it would be funny if Wufei end up being such a harmless animal (it would suite him in a parody of your fic). Also it comes from this cute official picture of chibi GW boys holding some animal (H -black bear; D -black panther; T -lion; Q -camel & W -panda).
As for why a white tiger I had to think about it so it wouldn't be just a "it looks cool" reason... although it does :3
I wouldn't use a world "royal" for a tiger. For me it's naturally attached to a lion's description and also Treize (so I can't wait to read if you make Treize a lion or some other animal).
"Wufei's a bronze-yellow tiger because that's more or less the color of his skin." I had a problem with that one but you said that their animal's fur is usually that of their hair color and both tigers have black umm markings. Also Wufei usually wears white.
Wufei might not consider himself "special enough" but he is both special and rear. When he first appeared in anime I thought: "what kind of historical drama did that guy come from?" Even Treize said to him well I don't remember what exactly he said but it was something like "you are one of a kind" (I'm a 13x5 lover ^_-)
Also he is a bit "leave me alone" and "you so don't even come close to my standards" and that could be consider umm royal in someway (rather bad than good but that is why we all love Wufei ^_^)
Anyway it was just a feeling I got so it's hard for me to explain in words. I just didn't want to leave it with "it looks cool" as an only reason.
Re: question ^^?
i also haven't slept for about 30 hours so i might make leaps of logic or not develop enough. ^^;
western cultures have royal = lion, but in eastern cultures, royal is more = tiger, so since Wufei grew up in an eastern culture he'd have that notion of what a tiger represents. White tigers especially were so special they were bred and kept for emperors in india and i think china if i remember right which right now i don't. wufei would have a definite emperor = white tiger way of thinking. He's not an emperor, and he doesn't consider himself more noble, though he does consider himself more intelligent, in a "how could you not GUESS that this would happen if so and so did THAT" way.
Also, all kinds of tigers are by nature solitary, so the "one of a kind" thing and the "leave me alone" thing would even apply to normal ones. Weretigers are already very rare, believe me, he doesn't need to be a white one on top of it to be special.
White =/= wufei's soul. white = mourning, which I hope came later XD
Anyway -- I can see why you'd like him as a white tiger, but believe me that's not a good thing. White tigers are always extremely inbred (right now all the white tigers in captivity are descending from the same male, and they only occur when mating two carriers of the gene, which means at best mating third cousins and at worst father and daughter), which leads to a few genetic defects. If he was a white tiger, it would mean entirely, not just the color. Meaning he would probably gain an imperfect genetic code. Seeing that weres genetic codes are already unstable, that would be even more hazardous for his health.
