naruto drabble...

_sachi. Kind of. She requested Ita/Naru, with akatsuki!naruto, and i started to write it TWICE, and then the bunnies died on me.
Uzumaki had never been one for rules, they had known that before inducing him in their ranks, and he hated being one of them. He could have cut off his ring finger -- or even his own hand -- and it would have grown back perfect. And he had found a way to have an "accident" with his cloak that made the red clouds a glaring orange. They let him get away with it; at least he was wearing it.

It wasn't going anywhere, so I stopped writing it. And started this one instead.

They had always known that they would get Kyuubi one day. It hadn't been planned quite like that, but ninjas, especially missing-nins, had to be adaptable. But once the Kyuubi brat had killed the two children that bore the four-tails and the seven-tails and their demons with them, the forbidden summoning had been out of their reach anyway, and having Kyuubi's vessel on their side was something, at least.

Their data had been insufficient, Itachi admitted that. He wasn't one for denial -- not that he could have denied that particular unpleasant truth.
The Fourth had been a vastly superior seal expert than any of the ones who had performed the seals on the previous demon holders. Even Shuukaku and the Three Tails hadn't been as hard to extract, and contrary to the rest, they had live carriers too; but it hadn't been too complicated to unravel the seals, and the death of the carriers had, in the end, pulled the demons free. Itachi wasn't sure the seal expert of the Akatsuki would find a way to unbind the Kyuubi's. Basically, Kyuubi couldn't be taken out of Naruto-kun. At all. What it meant, was that Naruto was probably a lot closer to immortality than Orochimaru would ever get.
What it concretely meant, was that Itachi was fucked. Because the vessel and the fox were bleeding into each other at the edges, and he'd angered them both -- even before capturing them to lead them to be separated.
He'd angered them both, by attacking them, and hurting their teammates -- for putting Kakashi-san through Tsukiyomi again, and breaking that pink-haired kunoichi's legs, and, surprisingly, for traumatizing his brother. He'd angered them both, by being the reason Sasuke betrayed them for the Sound, fought them with the intent to kill. By being the indirect reason they ended up in the hospital, broken and bloody and beaten.
He'd angered them both, mostly, by daring to look like Sasuke.
The relationship between his little brother and Naruto-kun was apparently complex and of a mixed nature -- and frankly of no real interest to him -- but one thing it seemed to produce in abundance was enraged resentment.
Naruto was too squeamish to kill him in cold blood, but Kyuubi had no problem finding new and inventive ways to make him bleed. Ways that made Naruto forget exactly who he was yelling at, who he was hitting, who he was blaming for being a cold asshole and hurting his friends and abandoning him.
Ways that made Naruto forget who he was bruising. Biting. Kissing.

The second one seems like it could be put with the first one, though I'm not sure how they'd transition into each other. But it gives the reason for Naruto being Akatsuki, and the first one gives how Naruto reacts to being Akatsuki.
The third one is a nice way to get believable ItaNaru, although it's not Akatsuki!Naruto--is it? XP But I like the third one. Although--maybe because I'm used to reading smuttier things from you--it seems a little unfinished.
I do like the end of it, when it seems to me that Naruto is almost completely mistaking Itachi for Sasuke. ^.^

Maybe combine the two blurbs by the attempt to separate the Kyuubi and Naruto failed, made him a little unstable, and maybe he became inadvertently connected to someone else so two people share the Kyuubi (you'd think they would have to confine the demon in someone after it got torn out of it's original holder)? Thus they have Naruto, the Kyuubi, and no way for Naruto to really go back to Konoha without dragging along a missing-nin who is also now connected to Kyuubi/Naruto's chakra/being [insert Naruto being upset thus sabatoging Akatsuki's plans and/or "rules" and refusing to completely finish any missions they give him if it hurts his close friends].
I dunno. I guess I'm just rambling at this point.
The final product was interesting. I sort of enjoyed how Itachi doesn't really care *about* Naruto's relationship with his friends and Sasuke, but that it just makes a mess of things.

BUT YOU WROTE ME ITACHI/NARUTO AND THAT'S WHAT COUNTS. I love how Itachi doesn't care and how Naruto is still all about Sasuke. It's so believable and yay! I can't think of anything else to say other than OMG ITACHI/NARUTO YOU ROCK.
