random antipairing ficlet

So I still owe four ficlets. I started on two of them. then erased it. then started again. I have the ideas, I just don't know how to get them out. ;_;

So instead, because I am a feedback whore and my inbox is empty today, I decided to rant about something that annoys me.

And instead of a rant, I got a ficlet. Go figure.

Personally I don't think SasuHina would work without making at least one of them VERY ooc, but with a good plot and good writing, I can believe anything. There is one plot, though, that always gets on my nerves,not only because almost EVERY SasuHina fic uses it, but also because it Makes No Fucking Sense.

Yay for stabbing stupid cliches through the eye.



"I'm afraid I must decline," Sasuke responds finally, voice dripping ice crystals.

The Hyuuga elder frowns at the kneeling young man in front of him, clad in a formal white and blue kimono. The old man doesn't like how openly he meets their eyes, how proudly he lifts his chin. The Uchiha is all but a powerless clan now, but Sasuke doesn't seem to realize it. "The contract was legal, signed by your clan head and three elders. All formalities are out of the way."

"As my own clan head, I must nullify this contract."

One of the other elders at his side draws back in offense. "You would insult us so?"

"You insult me by insisting that this sham be pushed through."

There is a collective hiss as the Hyuuga elders draw a shocked breath. "How dare you -- Hinata-sama is the very own daughter of our clan head--"

"Let's be frank. I don't know what my father was smoking when he accepted that contract. Maybe he thought sullying the purity of our line didn't matter since I wasn't about to inherit anything. In any case, I am not about to test what sort of probably useless mutation a mix of sharingan and byakugan will create."

He gets on his feet, bows perfunctorily, and turns away to leave, pausing with his hand on the sliding door.

"Besides, when this was supposedly signed, she was still the heir. You wouldn't have married her into another clan. If you want to get rid of your failure so badly, find another sucker."

well, the problem with that pairing isn't really the arranged marriage thing -- because i like it with nejihina it forces two people who usually wouldn't give each other the time of the day to deal with each other, to learn about each other and ultimately fall in love with the real person that they would otherwise have never bothered to know.

But what throws me with that bunny is people actually thinking that mixing up two families with eye techniques is a good idea. As an experiment when the two clans were numbered in the hundreds, why not -- they might actually get a super neat mix as a result -- but sasuke needs to preserve and transmit the sharingan, not see how much of his kids are born blind or seeing in everything but the normal spectrum.

I'm sure there is a way to make SasuHina work but I just don't see it. :| Sasuke would be all "Damnit! Grow a spine" and Hinata would never love Sasuke, she'd want to fix him as if he were something broken. I think they could be friends but only through the people they loved (i.e. Naruto). And HI I'm rambling now.

I've seen one that worked, and ironically it was with that bunny. But it was a very short fic, and it worked more for the way the words flowed together than for the characterization and logic. Unless i'm wrong it was by sunfreak, who writes fics as if they were poetry. i love her style, but it doesn't convince me of the merits of the pairing and bunny itself. XD

True, they can lead to love...and there were certainly less divorces when arranged marriages were in style...but then, divorce was considered taboo. In my case, though, I would rather find love on my own...and I think most other people feel the same way.

Also, I agree with the other point of the fic...the whole eye-mixing thing. Sasuke can't afford to take that risk. I'm surprised that the Hyuuga family, knowing that he needs to rebuild his clan, doesn't take that into consideration. Then again, they're pretty hung up on politics. Meh. *wrinkles nose* Politics...grr...people take them too seriously sometimes.

i think they did know, and hoped sasuke didn't -- just so they could bury their rival clan for good. after all, the uchiha was a part of the hyuuga before it mutated, and i don't think the hyuuga ever forgave them for daring not to die of shame and then going on rivaling them in greatness.

*blink* That makes a lot of sense. You'll have to forgive me, I'm a bit far behind in the series. The sixth volume of the manga just came out over here and I only recently got the DVDs of the series. I'm trying to catch up. ^_^

Yeah, I've read that one-- it is sunfreak-- and it works so well and has such momentum that it took me reading some other very bad fic before it registered as a stupid idea, because hers was the first I'd come across. But upon thinking... what would they be trying for, peppermint-striped eyes? Eesh. And of course Sasuke would say no. Thank you for that.

You ought to know I love the idea. SasuHina makes so little sense to me, it's astounding. And people who think they'd find some romance in an arranged marriage are delusional.

They are also a bit odd for thinking that either family would go for that. They're both rather protective of their bloodlimits.

SasuHina is one of my biggest pet peeves. (Because, seriously, swirling blank/red eyes without pupils and veins?! O_o) But there's been a new thread to the fandom: Itachi/Hinata.

... I'm seriously ashamed to say most people of the fandom who are crazy are my age. Like... WHAT?!

Just pairing Itachi seriously with anyone and the other one being consentant is 'wtf' to me. o__o But- HINATA. That's... worse.
