ANYWAY! in other news, they've started producing the Nurarihyon no Mago anime (two episodes!), and while I'm not sure how well the first episode foreshadows or explains stuff (the manga is very slow to start), it's still a lovely story about a boy who is one quarter youkai and very determined not to become the next neighborhood youkai leader because damn it he wants to be normal, NOR-MAL... while routinely getting all buddy-buddy with snow women, kappa, dark monks, ghosts without a neck, and funny japanese monsters like possessed umbrellas and the like. (also more and more routinely transforming into his Night (youkai) shape, which is mmmyes hotness.) Woohoo folklore! ... woohoo hot guys! Also the characters tend to be really likeable. u.u (yukionnaaaaaa.)

I think her chakra had more to do with the bondage chains that held Kyuubi. If we knew more about how the seal was made... I'm wondering if, when Minato mixed their chakras together to make Naruto's seal, they shared memories.

And what the hell is up with those two ... well three if you count Don Kamaji, still being able to be on their feet around Aizen when just his presence KNOCKED OUT the Shinigami supposed to be watching the town? OK, so they're used to Ichigo's reiatsu, but that shouldn't have inured them to Aizen to this degree.

Only thing I can think of is either a) Ichigo's reiatsu somehow protects them (he's never met Afro Shinigami, so there's that), b.) Uruhara had something up his sleeve when he showed them what Ichigo was hiding from them and there's some sort of barrier around them that they don't understand so that they can awaken whatever powers they have and at least hold Aizen back a bit if it's needed (as a last resort, probably, in case everything goes entirely wrong) or c.) Afro Samurai Shinigami is a chicken shit and decided it'd be better if someone else dealt with this shit or a combination of any of these.

They've done things and grown... in the beginning. There was that whole beautiful arc that surrounded Chad and Orihime getting their powers. They got to be helpful. Orihime was a badass. She had noble intentions (though misguided and fairly stupid) in going along with what Aizen said. She planned on doing the entire thing herself.

Her friends started dying, one by one, in order to save her. She couldn't do anything but feel it and watch that small patch of faux-sky in her cell. All she wanted was for it all to end, so she regressed. I can relate to that. I've been regressed for a better part of... I don't know how many years. My dad's made comments on it. My mother's made comments on it. I still get in her lap when I have the chance, especially when I'm feeling really insecure. I'm 25 and I still get into my mother's lap. And that's over things that normal people can handle perfectly well. No one died, certainly not for my sake, and not over a decision that I made to try and keep them safe. So... I can understand it. I can understand it really well.

Tatsuki's always been considered a badass in my book. She took on a behemoth of a woman in the nationals. She beat up half her class protecting Orihime. Keigo... usually whines. And goofs off. Maybe this is his moment to grow up. Because Tatsuki? Totally capable of kicking ass and taking names. Keigo, not so much. Yeah, she has room to grow, but she's more capable of holding her own than any of their other classmates, sans Chad, Ishida, Ichigo and Orihime. Maybe that's why she should be holding the zanpakuto, but maybe she doesn't actually need it right now.

I don't know. I'm sad, pathetic, and rambling.

I'm starting to be bored with Aizen. He is a first-class douche. "Lookit me! I'm all super powerful and I can crush you with one finger! But I still need a key to get where I wanna go."

I'm withholding judgement on the whole Rangiku/Gin thing. Gin is creepy, but from what I've noticed when it comes to Blondie, it's a kinda sorta, but don't wanna be, protective kinda creepy.

No comment on this week's Naruto chapter. It's more back-story building. What more needs said. ...... oh. Yeah. Kid-Itachi is SOCUTE!

Nurarihyon manga:
I like how the anime started with the Gyuki fight; the in media res thing isn't something you see a lot of in anime. You know right where it's going, and then it flashes back to the beginning you get a lot of shots of "Oh, there's Gyuki - we saw him being all mean and stuff pre-flashback, he's obviously the villain!" Prepare to be surprised, anime audience.

Everything is really pretty (Yuki Onna, especially), and Rikuo is voiced by Lelouch from Code Geass. How awesome is that? Night-form Rikuo has just the right melodramatic yakuza vibe going for him that Lelouch's voice actor is so good at. And Kururugi Suzaku's voice actor is the headless dude, who will eventually get to do cool stuff, if the anime lasts that long... but is now pretty much lost beneath the deluge of other cool folklore stuff.

Ah well.
