Naruto - 470-471

Forgot to do last week's. evil NaNo. Even this week i don't have time for page to page babble.



okay first, i'm not as frustrated about Sakura's fake confession as I was -- obviously urgh Kishi damn it way to make her look like she has an inflated sense of self-importance, but it's not Sakura's fault. I seriously hope I'm not expecting too much when I read the last chapter as OH MY GOD FINALLY SHE MIGHT EVEN MEET SASUKE THIS TIME AROUND. because the way the panels were framed and presented it seemed like foreshadowing that for once she'd actually succeed instead of once again "your sasuke is in another castle! :D" -- because she SERIOUSLY needs to clear the air, review her own motivation, and also learn all that stuff that Kakashi being such a good teammate and leader decided she didn't fucking need to know.

(my god, I know it must be darkest before dawn in a story like this so that the happy end feels REALLY rewarding, but aaaaaa kishi stop exploding team seven please god it hurts T__T)

Also she's been having all those "i'm not doing anything waugh what can i do *trapped trapped*" issues and "i'm relying on naruto way too much" issues, especially recently. So I'm glad she's going on her own, even though I wish Kishi hadn't motivated her in such a clumsy way.



Anyway this week's chapter, two things jumped at me:

-the hyuuga eye guy VERSUS the not-yamanaka guy moment. It was so... ninja-y. No huge techniques that remodel the countryside. No, it was all like... "This eyeball is Konoha's. I'm taking it back for the glory of Danzou-sama. Danzou, konoha, same schtick."
"Yeah but we stole it and it was real hard! That totally make it ours. Ha."
"Yeahwhatev'. Alright, no hard feelings but I'mma suicide you."
"Better not miss then, cause I won't miss you. Just saying."

In Bleach news, OH MY GOD. WHAT IS THIS STRANGE FEELING RUNNING THROUGH ME. WELL MORE LIKE DRIBBLING IN A SLOWLY WIDENING PUDDLE BUT.

CARING ABOUT WTF IS HAPPENING?!?

Why, so I am. Not a TON, but, you know -- it's BLEACH. I haven't cared in at least five centuries and three quarters.

Funny how things can change when 1) the hero is actually around, 2) the hero is actually behaving in a way that shows his actual CHARACTER, you know, the one I fell in love with and followed a whole series FOR, 3) people I actually already have an emotional attachment to are onscreen (I EVEN CHEERED FOR CAPTAINMOM DO YOU KNOW HOW WEIRD THAT IS espeially since her role was mostly as yet another "ichigo=savior!" mouthpiece... I still loved it.) and 4) there's more than 5% of the chapter dedicated to things that aren't page-wide atomic mushroom clouds of better-than-you-ness.

And here I thought that I'd had my break-up with the canon. I thought that I could contentedly muck about in fanon and forget about that actual manga and its total emotional mindscrew.

OK, I'm going off to read all of the chapters that I missed. (Which is like two but whatever...)

XD;;;;;; if i were you i'd wait a little to start again, i noticed those chapters are less frustrating when you can go on to the next one right away and see how they were meant instead of analyzing and getting stuck on every step of the way...

Don't say that about bleach! If I start to think something interesting is happening I'll want to go back. I was perfectly happy thinking its all about random people doing stupid bullshit that's completely irrelevant. Now I'll have to read through the stupid bullshit to get to the good part again!

Manga. i don't like bleach enough to bother watching stuff i didn't love in manga version, also naruto gave me a "fillers = NOOOOO" kneejerk reaction and knowing Bleach has arcs of it at the moment i can't make myself take a look.

Actually they are currently on a filler arc which I think is the only one I actually like. Its where all the Zanpaktou's captain and non captains alike gain human form and are "We aren't your servants anymore! >:| We're the bosses now bitches."

I know you're not fond of fillers but that filler arc is really just too interesting since I always wondered what other captains and other's swords were like since we had seen Zangetsu. Really I strong recommend seeing that season.

...I admit I literally banged my head on my desk when Kakashi stopped Naruto from telling Sakura about Danzou.

WTF is up with this sudden 'The new Team Seven will now be formed by Naruto, Kakashi, Yamato and Sai - and you can just fuck off, Sakura, don't get uppity and think you can butt in in men's conversations and share their secrets' nonsense? -_- I think it annoys me even more than the other degrading stuff Kishi's pulled recently to jumpstart Sakura's 'growth'. I mean, I AM gonna cheer if she finally ends up kicking ass all by herself for once, but still - this is just STUPID. -_-

As for Bleach... well, Ichigo is being dorky, we're apparently getting into the characters' head again and perhaps, just perhaps, we're finally GETTING OUT OF HUECO MUNDO. The 'Ichigo will save us all' thing is somewhat annoying but also promising, because it seems headed towards a BIG DAMN FALL. Also mmmmh, Unohana. :DDD

Tentatively hopeful here too. Let's see how it goes. :D
