I imagine part of the problem Cloud has maintaining a strong personality in fandom is the need many fans seem to have for a whiny, emo, uke character to abuse. Cloud drew the short straw by being irredeemably pretty and shorter than everyone else. If they can do it to Naruto, anyone is fair game. *is sad*
I've been shipping Cloud x Reno of late, to get around the oh-no-they're-all-dead aspect of Cloud's love life. It's awkward, but fun.
