Dead Fantasy 3+4!!

Remember Dead Fantasy by Monty Oum? The super high quality fanmade vid where girls from Final Fantasy kick the crap out of girls from Dead or Alive and vice versa?

There's two new vids oouuuuuut bweeeee. The first is Tifa VS I dunno hick girl, and the second has some Kairi and then it's Yuna VS one of the ninja chicks... Kasumi?

Shiny. I'd love it more if my computer wasn't such a bitch and didn't start skipping and freezing the frames around the middle of each vid. They're only about five minutes long each for fuck's sake, argh. I'm gonna have to find somewhere to download them, streaming just doesn't work right. ~___~

Tifaaaaaaa. She has such awesome moves. *___* (i'm so cheap seeing her flip in the air and kick makes me instantly like her more. XD prrrrrrrt.)

The freezing and skipping isn't just you. :(

I was able to download the flash file and watch it from my hard drive without problems. Would you like me to upload it somewhere, or covert it to an AVI or something and then upload it?

It's no trouble, I would get around to converting eventually for myself so I'm just doing it sooner. :)

Looks like they're going to be 130-150mb in size. I know some aren't so good about allowing people outside the US to download, would Sendspace work?

Dead Fantasy IV - AVI (converted from the Game Trailers file) on Sendspace.

Four converted before three in my batch so you get them in reverse order.

Dead Fantasy III as with four, converted and on SendSpace.

You are very welcome. :)

These things make me want to see Tifa and Sakura meet somehow. And wonder if Sakura is going to take one look at Tifa's rack and immediately make the "pulverizs stone to gravel with one punch = big bust" association, given Tsunade and Tifa as exemplars. XD

I have no audio at work so I just scrolled through it really fast XD

WHAT HAPPENED TO TIFA O__O

And does Cloud count as one of the girls? XDDDD

Well, there was that crossdressing time...

Downloading is trivial under Linux with the free program 'youtube-dl', and since that program is written in Python, it should be entirely possible to run it under Windows with the free runtime from the official Python Website. There's an "installing for Windows" guide on the youtube-dl Website, which is the lucky Google hit on a search for the program name.

There are also Websites available for the same purpose, but since youtube-dl is so handy I never bothered remembering what any of them are called.

(Given the long lags and slow transfer speeds I'm seeing when grabbing these videos using youtube-dl, I'm not at all surprised people who watch them streaming are seeing latency/buffering issues...)

:D I'm loving these things so much. Totally cheering on the Final Fantasy girls for the sole reason that I don't know a thing about the other ones. >.>

Is it just me or are they not nearly as cool as the first two? The animation seems to have suffered too.

So much awesome compressed into so little time... I can't wait until high resolution copies come up.

The plot thickens~ And holy shit I literally shrieked when Cloud showed up. Though it seemed to violate the "hey, girls kick ass!" spirit of the earlier three, but now that there's plot instead of just awesome battle... well, I just hope Cloud isn't the central hope to save the day, because that's totally not fair.

C'est pas juste les trailers qui sont sortis? Me suis massivement spoilée avec mon frère, et on a hurlé en voyant ce qui arrivait à Tifa TT____TT

I'm uneasy about the stirrings and hints of a deeper plot into a series which, thus far, has only required the plot of "hot girls from FF are fighting hot girls from DOA". That a simple, straight forward formula. The introduction of a story, while I'm sure it is well conceived, forces the audience to face unnecessary questions- why are these girls fighting, what are they fighting for, how did they all meet? Certainly valid questions from a storytelling POV, but I fear any examination of an answer that isn't "Who cares, shut the hell up and enjoy watching a bunch of random game girls kick the crap out of one another, idiot!" will dilute the series somewhat. After all, any time spent clarifying those questions is time not spent having people beating on each other and inflicting massive property damage to their environment...which is really the very heart and soul of the series, isn't it.

But what the hell, I'm game. Who knows, maybe Oum is as good a storyteller as he is a programmer and choregrapher. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I like how Yuna is kind of weirded out by riding off into the sunset with cloud. No doubt many conflicting emotions there- not the least of which is that he looks kinda like Tidus with a lot less dumb but a lot more angst...to say nothing of wondering what Tifa will do if she sees this little scene.

Just me, or does Kasumi look a little....unsettled by the Kasumi clones? Mayhaps she is being used here? Clearly its got something to do with the blonde girl from 3 (which was cool, but not quite as epic as 4 was).

Dead Fantasy has new fans...

[identity profile] flourite-roses.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what? I love you for posting this entry. I'm Addicted to them; these vids are that awesome. And I got my friend to watch with me, and now all we do during class breaks are to watch FF girls owning the DoA girls. (We are of the FF girls's fandom too~! DoA girls cheat by trying to outnumber the FF girls... Not good. D: Tifa's kicks does really own all. :D)

Thanks for the link to the Dead Fantasy movies! After seeing the costumes at Otakon for the Dead Fantasy characters, I knew I had to see them for myself. Can I just say these vids are exactly what I want to see when I watch fight scenes? I get so tired of watching that slo mo shit that plagues most anime fights. Lately I've been seeing more of this 'real time' action in programs like Avatar: The Last Airbender - they did a few slow mos here and there but it mostly centered just on the fighting. There is no hesitation or slo mo in real life. I loved how the creator also omits the 'announcement of attack name.' Surprise me, don't tell me! I recognized all of the Final Fantasy magic attacks the FF chicks did and I didn't need a single one of them told to me. So awesome. Whoever does these videos eliminates what I find annoying about anime fights and makes them more enjoyable and riveting for viewers like me. :)

Eh, I liked that Cloud showed up at the end of the fourth one. I got an excited hormonal surge seeing him show up like that. The girls proved many times over they can hold their own in the previous 3 vids, I didn't care that a man showed up this one time and ended things. Not much on the implied Yuna/Cloud. In my mind, it's only Aeris or Tifa for him, anyone else is just in the way. Then again, poor Yuna's former love interest Tidus hadn't even been a real person.

Loved Rinoa wielding the gunblade. Apparently she's in the habit of borrowing her boyfriend's weapons. ;)
