Scene starts with Duo sitting at a table, working on calculations. He's concentrating hard on them, and he reaches for a bottle of water without really looking at it, and it's just a little too far -- then it topples and rolls to his hand. He picks it up, takes off the cap, and takes a sip, still staring at his calculations.

Heero was doing his own thing close by, and does a double-take because he kind of felt the tug. Duo notices Heero is staring and looks up, and they both stare at each other for a second and then at the wet circle on the table where the bottle was.

Duo: ... Oh. ... Cool.

Duo tries to do it again, but he can't -- he forgot the knack. Heero goes and stands behind him and says "Just take the bottle, Duo."

Duo: *vaguely frustrated* "... duh, I can't remember how."

Heero: *calm, no-nonsense tone* You want that bottle, just take it, it doesn't matter how.
Duo: *rolls eyes a bit, reaches for the bottle with his hand*
Heero: *catches his wrist when his fingers were almost touching the bottle*
Bottle: *wobbles*
Duo: *half-incredulous chuckle, sneak-attack with his other hand!!*
Heero: *snatches other hand!! >O* * you will not have that bottle!*
Duo: *strains against Heero's grip, tho he doesn't go anywhere* *I will so have that bottle!*
bottle: *roll roll hay Duo's lap*

Then SOMEONE ELSE *coughspoilercough* is all "Oohh. I... felt something. D: LET ME TRY." And she tries and tries, and the bottle doesn't move an inch -- but the drawer behind her flies out of its hinges. XD
Heero: ... I think you pulled a little too hard.

... Just one problem -- Duo wasn't supposed to be telekinetic in this fic. X'D Damn it.

Maybe I can wing it somehow, but I don't know, I don't think I can say "all the Gboys were super-powerful psychics with a bazilion mind powers in the show, they just never visibly used it." Maybe I can say that the bigger powers actually come out later when you're done maturing or something. Or maybe people who exhibit pyrokinesis or telekinesis or teleportation in the middle of adolescence tend to have fatal accidents due to their moods being so unstable and making their powers out of control. hrrm. I dunno. The power I did give Duo wasn't in the same category at all, so I can't really say they're just two facets of the same thing.

I rewrote the beginning of the second scene of chapter 1, and I like it a LOT better now. It's more easy to visualize and understand why they suspect Duo at all, and it gives a few glimpses into Wufei's undercover as a guerillero stint. Read here.

Also ENTIRELY rewrote the fourth scene, when Wufei meets the ministry officials -- now it's Heero POV and Wufei was asleep in the infirmary all along. I thought I'd posted it but I can't find it in my tags. D: Here it is.

Working on actually continuing the fic instead of tweaking the previous parts now. ya rly. -___-;;;;;

His telekinesis could be very, very weak, though. As in, nudging a bottle towards him is the most he'll ever be able to do. But hey, that's useful in and of itself. It's enough to be able to pick locks, after all.

I like the idea that he could pick locks with it, but it's already pretty rare to have one talent, I don't want the gboys to just happen to have several. ;_; Heero already has more than one, but he's canonically abnormal and he's been tampered with, so that can be allowed. More than that... hrrrm. I'd need a better reason than just blind randomness.

Yes, but the boys were chosen because they were extraordinary to begin with, right? That means that they could, in fact, have part of the brain activated that most don't. Otherwise any bum off the street would be trainable to be able to pilot the gundams, and we know that's not true ~~(Hi thar Zechs)~~.

Duo was chosen because he broke through G's security and that's all we know about it, as far as i recall. ;p

And wouldn't he need help breaking through that? I mean, there's got to be trained adults that've tried and failed before, and yet Duo, a kid, is able to do so. And before, as a wee ickle kid he's able to break into a military base and steal mobile suit(s).

-___- I know all that. He still can't have more than one gift without a good in-universe reason that isn't "because it would be awesome." I still haven't come up with that reason. And the other one is there for plot reason and therefore comes first. The end.

I don't know much about newtypes, but maybe a variation on Luck/probability shifting? You know about how if the atoms all lined up properly you'd fall right though the floor?

Only he can't do that, he just makes it more likely that more of the atoms and molecules will wiggle THAT way more and the thing will tip over. Like when plates that haven't been touched in months spontaneously fall off the edge of shelfs. >.>;;;

Things in motion would probably be easier--so long as he's going with the flow. People won't notice him as much if he doesn't want them to--Luck, you know.

So he'd have only one power, but it could manifest and look like a few different things, but you can say HAI NO, IT'S ONLEE ONE THING, C?

... Probability-shifting, oh my. That could be possible... I think... perhaps. hrrm. I'll have to think on it but I like the idea, thank you! ^____^

Man, you do the forensic/brain-storming stuff so well! I could totally see real agents working through the evidence like that. So damn professional sounding! O.O And I like the infirmary/sleep scene better the way you did it... it's more tense.

O.O XDDDDDDDDDDD God, I love this fic, Asuka! There are not nearly enough newtype fics in Gundam Wing fandom. Plus, you write it so well... *snuggles into fic happily*

Maybe Duo was tampered with a little, too? I mean, it's not everyone who can fly a gundam. From what we see, there are tons of buttons and levers that need to be pulled all at once. Just a little telekinesis would have been really useful, even if it was so little Duo didn't realize he was using it. *shrugs* Just a thought.

But if Duo was tampered with, then everyone else was! ;____; Though I have an idea and might be able to tweak it. Who knows. I'll let the idea percolate and see where it goes. >__>

I suppose one way to fix it would just be to replace Duo with whichever character does have that power in that scene. ...Man, that hurt to write. haha Duo's great, but sometimes you just gotta chop scenes when you have to. ...That hurt to write too. I loved this part, but if it doesn't work... well, you could try to pull it off somehow. I can't rattle off too many suggestions since I don't know what Duo's power is yet but... Is there a way to say he can only physically influence something that does relate to his power? Maybe he does have two powers, but the telekinesis is just so crappy and sporadic that he can only do it once in a blue moon? And then not even all that well?
This could also be a AU side story to your actual timeline. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it at all.

But either way, that fic-bit up there was awesome. XD I love the *you will not have that bottle!* *I will so have that bottle!*... And then the drawer at the end. I can't wait to see the next chapter of this. XD
