Want to hear how evil I am?

In two comments, I singlehandedly made deviantart unbearable for this one one poor, poor girl. I mean, she only took well-known, beautifully made pictures, edited the hell out of Girl Character 1 to replace her with Girl Character 2, and posted them in her gallery without having the decency to link back to the original artist, say her name, or even mention clearly she hadn't drawn most of the pic.

It's not like dA has rules against using anyone's art without express permission that will get the pic deleted, and your gallery too if you do it too often. Asking her to at least link back because it's the decent thing to do was clearly, CLEARLY cruelty.

Also, the fact that her traced pics keep getting deleted and her friends' pics don't is clearly because someone has an axe to grind against her. It's not like no one got around to report her friends yet -- they somehow get a pass, so she should too, and it's not right that she doesn't. D:

Then she said I made her cry, and she deleted the picture entirely!!, and I was unfair, and I should be nicer because I'm 26 and she's 16 and therefore still a kid.

1) didn't ask you to delete it, just to give proper credit, which is apparently too much even though by dA rules it's not enough. Want fair? Fair would have been to click the report button and warn the original artist she'd been ripped off. Oh wait, you mean fair "to me." My apologies.
2) You're sixteen, not six. WTF.

If my eyes roll any harder they're going to fly out of my skull and nail a poor crippled nun in the shins. Then she'll roll down the staircase and crash into a bus full of school kids. I'm just that evil.

LOL: I have seen this SO many times on dA. Even people I watch will get up in arms when their friends who post explicit pr0n get banned. :| It's like, DUDE, dA. Has. Rules. If. You. Follow. Them. At. Least. Half. Way. You. Won't. Get. Banned. >.<

Generally when I find a ripped or traced piece of artwork I go by the maxim… "What would Itachi do?"

Anyway. I've never understood how some of these people out there even get in the mindset that it's okay to steal someone else's hard work and try to pass it off as their own. It's like the very gene that provides a measure of human decency is missing from their DNA. As well as possibly the one effecting self-esteem. I mean, how much would you have to despise your own artwork, that you have to steal some in order to feel artistic?

You realize, of course, that we're all doing sort of the same thing, with the whole "you're right, she's not" assurances? Both sides rally toward their own. Just an observation.

Technically it wasn't 100% plagiarism, because she did say "I drew Character 2," implying that she hadn't drawn the rest. But that's still not a proper disclaimer. >:/ It's not hard to hit the edit button and type "original pic by Artist at URL."

XD; I don't even think what I did was 100% right either, some people would tell me I should mind my own business and not behave like I'm some kind of devart cop. But fuck her, I didn't like her attitude. >:/ Also it really bugged me that her username is ONE letter different from the artist she ripped off (coincidence my ass), and that artist is well known for being a XY OTPer, and the thief is so much of a XZ OTPer that she had to "fix" the original artist's picture. So she'll still use the other gal's notoriety and great artistic abilities! But with the RIGHT pairing this time around. Hate. Haaaaaate.

...So, there are two explanations for this. The first is that, at the age of sixteen, she is like many people her age: overly hormonal, ridiculously emo, and looking for attention. The second is that she lied about her age, and it is therefore her own fault that she doesn't have the emotional maturity to deal with people's comments. Or wouldn't, if what you said had been Cruel and Unusual. As it stands, she's being ridiculous, and my money's on option one. u.u;;

Oh, I love the 'but I gave credit' argument. Especially where giving credit apparently means 'I have permission'.

I also love the 'but other people do it' argument.

I smack my head against the desk with particular force because I've just been watching a load of 14 year old boys, who apparently think they're going to make Dragonball AF a reality, ganging up on somebody who dared report them for their artwork. Their artwork which was a bunch of edited Dragonball Tenkaichi characters and these YGO card things. Because it takes aaaages and you can ruin people's lives by reporting them, dontcha know?

Tough love is what these kids need. Unfortunately they won't be realising it with the flood of 'onoez don't leave shes liak totally wrong' comments that are bound to come.
