The war. The war. I don't agree with that shit but he's not my president and might have had good political reasons, from his corner. BUT YOU LEAVE THE FUCKING WOLVES ALONE. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, THE LAST TRUE COWBOY OR SOMETHING.

aaaaaahhhhh hate hate hate.

But yeah i'm not american so I can't do jack shit except repost the link and hope others can. godfuckingdamnit. ~__~

edit: well that'll learn me to do my own research. Apparently the article is out of date and heavily slanted?

He's never cared about anything but pleasing his rich oil-and-rifle cronies, and he has no reason to hide it anymore-- he can't get elected again.

Wolves

*pets* No fear. We have several non-profit groups (such as defends of wildlife, feel free to Google) that are fighting it. Defends takes donations (and you can adopt wolves, even) so they are a good group to support. Plus, they have won stupid court cases like this in the past. They are also one of the main groups spearheading against the stupid idiots who want to take the wolves off the endangered list in the Yellow stone (national park) area because the stupid farmers are chickens.

I'm so disgusted right now

Today I'm thankful that I saw your post about the wolves. Pretty stupid that I found out through someone who doesn't even live in the states. I feel ashamed. I've forward this to all of my Earth-friendly friends so hopefully there's something we can do about this, or at least tell all the right people we're not happy about this. Thanks for bringing it to attention.

Yes, Bush does see himself has a fucking cowboy, a fucking cowboy guided by God and who hears Jesus speaking to him.

About half of my fellow Americans who bothered to vote these past two elections are obviously fucking nuts. (Though it's pretty obvious that the first election was rigged in Florida, governed by his brother, and the second tipped on a state with easily hacked electronic voting machines.)

That whole "government by the people, for the people" thing is a crock. The popular vote is pretty meaningless, our representatives aren't required to vote the way their constituents want them to and the only way to effectively discipline them for voting against is to vote them out in the next election.

Good news? He can't run again. Bad news? We still have the rest of the year with him in office, and I'm not overly thrilled with the options for his replacement.

[identity profile] sarolynne.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Because he only had another year to prove he's the worst, and most evil president the country has ever had. He couldn't risk someone else seeming less concerned with the state of the world, or any living thing in it.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-03 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Someone just PLEASE assassinate him already. The country will celebrate!

[identity profile] sayaka-sama.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe the wolves will get to him first. And eat his entrails. Then crap on his face. Can't wait for his term to be over. D

[identity profile] aya1412.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I really wish I'd bought one of the many variations of calenders that have the basic premise "only x amount of time until Bush is out of office!" Elect our own president, my ass.

[identity profile] twitty-twit.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
*sigh

yeah that's our president... I really thought nothing about this fucktard could surprise me anymore, but I guess I was wrong. It makes sense, in a twisted sort of way. He's already on his last year, he's fucked with just about everything else... heaven's forbid he not RUIN some forgotten part of America. GRRRRRR.

Everything about this man pisses me off. Our whole political system became a mockery of itself when he 'won' that first election. wtfimstillsopissedwhenithinkaboutit -_- Even worse than the fact that they got away with that 'recount' was the fact that for a good while the USofA adapted such a mindless mob mentality that anyone who spoke out against his policies was basically labelled anti-american. wtf, we're supposed to be based on free speech, and having the opinion of the common (wo)man matter >:|

I remember hearing a radio broadcast of some sheeptard in the midwest hailing him because he was 'our king' yes, some retard was babbling about how we shouldn't go against Bush cause he was our president and our president is our king and america has to stick behind its king. I just about wrecked my car in a rage. firstly, if you're american you're supposed to realize YOU don't have a king, and you don't need a king! that's the whole idea >< (sorry my lotr fangirl came out lol)

I have to go set up some donations now. I guess I've been so disillusioned by Bush I've developed a habit of not hearing or seeing anything about his policies. Plus, I didn't think he'd have the nerve to undo decades of preservation efforts. Boy did I underestimate him :E

This apparently has been attempted once before without very good results.
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0202-07.htm

Personally I don't trust environmentalist sites that don't have obvious links to major organizations or articles by major news sources so ended up doing a search on it.

That being said there is one key issue to all this, it says its the Bush administration which might as well consist of a few dozen people. Now trust me I hate Bush as much as the next breathing American. That being said it is pretty sad that his administration is full of a lot of the same greedy shit heads as Bush himself. He's just too limp wristed to tell whoever's grand idea it was to pull this stunt to go fuck themselves.

Whats even sadder is I'm expecting the same bullshit to come up from time to time with the next administration. It'd be great to see a democrat come in but Hilary has her head up her ass (if its Clinton and Clinton for office then FUCK YEA! if not then BOOOOO!!!!) and Obama... well I can see Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton having a FIELD-FUCKING-DAY running around the white house trying to run his shit just because they share a skin tone. Call me racist if you want but they are the worst things to ever happen to the civil rights movements, I'd trade the both of them for MLK.

[identity profile] oceanica.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, still don't want that. You assassinate a public figure, then everyone rushes to the positions they supported, and you get their side waving the bloody shirt for years.

[identity profile] nova-night.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well I just happy that there where no good results the first time and its been found wrong before. If there are old cases the support that what Bush is doing is wrong then its easier in court for them to stop this.

[identity profile] nova-night.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Even if 80% of the US thinks it wrong? Because I sure that is about how much of the US support Bush and his group has right now.

[identity profile] munky-of-magyar.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Um, other than this article how did you find out about this. I am searching all the major news outlets in the states for more information.

[identity profile] oceanica.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it does a LOT to stir up people to all kinds of crazy shit. Once you've got a dead president on your hands, people turn into complete sheep.

OLD article

[identity profile] pheonix7284.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Normally I'm a lurker - but I'm sorta a wolf fanatic - So I thought I should post more info on this somewhat one-sided and misleading (and quite out of date) article.

First: Gray Wolves(Timberwolves) have been off the national, and nearly all states endangered species lists since March of '07.
And the rest can be found here since it seems this group was putting up flyers(with graphic images of wolves being killed :-( ) - so here is more info, and links at the bottom about the issue.
http://cbs4denver.com/realitycheck/gray.wolves.northern.2.562905.html

Here is some more, rather old info on it and associated info:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-01-29-gray-wolves_x.htm
http://www.nps.gov/yell/naturescience/wolves.htm (yellowstone's wolfpack page)
www.hsus.org/wildlife/wildlife_news/the_feds_push_the_gray_wolf_back_into_the_dark_ages_of_protection.html
http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/er/factsheets/mammals/wolf.htm (Wisconsin's state fact sheet on wolves. - there is probably a similar one at all state Department of Natural Resources websites.)

All in all - most states won't allow hunting of wolves, unless an individual is causing problems.
And they are still protected in the National Parks - which is still considered an experimental population (since they were re-introduced in the 90's) (even though they are more than twice the goal population!)

And regardless, bush is a freaking idiot. Thankfully we have a nice election upcoming which he can't be elected in.
(btw - your art is soo pretty!)

[identity profile] oceanica.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
♥ Thanks!

And yes, major stupidity. It's distressing.

[identity profile] miaka2u.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not trying to be mean or argue, but I really don't think he's that bad of a president... he hasn't gotten impeached like his predecessor. XD My opinion on this is you have to read between the lines and find out the exact reason why this is being done.

"Wolves are being targeted because of a few cases where elk herds have declined. But these declines have been caused by many factors, including drought, shrinking habitat and human hunters -- not just wolves."
Also you have to remember that this is coming from a biased one-sided website. True data needs to be collected from both ends before there can be a real conclusion to an opinion. Wolves are gorgeous animals, but so are elk (and the ones being targeted by the wolves are also endangered).

The reason for this that I found (and I'm a biology major with a high interest in ecology) is population management. The states do this for canivore management so the smaller game don't get overrun in the areas. The same is done for the deer population in the north. It's much better to have hunting season so those animals don't die of starvation and overpopulation.

I'm an HUGE animal lover too. I've been a vegetarian for over 5 years now and I'm always looking out for animals. As sad as this is, with the urbanization of the world we live in stuff, like this has to be done. I wish it didn't, but sometimes this is the only choice we have. Either these animals will be put in zoos and mistreated or they'll starve in the wild because their main food sources will be exhausted because of lack of control.

[identity profile] fireflies-x.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's just crap. Bush is crap. I as an American, have never felt more embarrassed to have a crappy ass president as we do right now. I can't wait for him to be GONE... but the next prez could just be as crappy. Who knows? le sigh.

Re: OLD article

[identity profile] pheonix7284.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
No prob. Looks like it was written maybe 2006? Since the official annoncement of wolves being taken off the endangered list was in Jan. 2007 I think - so this would probably be before that, and is at least a year old - or they didn't do any real research before putting it up of course....(which might be the point - cause people are talking about eh?)

As far as I know, they haven't actually done any crazy wolf hunts out in the west, though if there is a nuisance pack (taking to much livestock, eating dogs, etc.) They can and do issue permits for a specified region and # at the state level - and proabaly not in a very busy national park. The federal government ussually leaves all hunting and wildlife issues up to the state, aside from very general guidlines.

Though like what one of the above posts state: If there aren't citations - somethings fishy. ^.^

But definantly feel free to donate to (more well known and reliable) orgnizations! There are plenty out there doing great work! Or sign some petitions, etc!

[identity profile] sister-dear.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Going to play devil's advocate for a moment, here... keep in mind that the people in that portion of the states also get to see the unpleasant side of predators up close and personal. My current roommate spent her summer on a farm in one of the states in question. She had to start carrying a .22 on her morning walk because coyotes were following her and harassing their dog- chasing him, nipping at his heels, could have killed him if they'd wanted to kind of harassment. I'm most certainly not saying that the hunters should have free reign, but it does give you a slightly different perspective when the cute fuzzie-wuzzies begin to threaten your livelihood.

Also, please to be keeping in mind that not all people who hunt are animal-haters. People out on this side of the country who hunt also tend to eat bambi, not just put his head on the wall. They tend to have just as much, if not more, respect for nature than the vegetarians carving up the soil with their dune buggies.

*will not touch current American Presidential politics with a ten foot pole*

*pets, huggles and soothes Asuka with kisses*

It's okay babe. I am American and I hate his fucking guts too XD

He's an idiot who should never have been allowed to run, much less become President! (And he wouldn't have, had his brother not been the governor of FL in 2000!)

But he's on his way out. No matter what, come next January 21st, there will be no more W. in the White House!

And that is something to smile about XD

As for the article, I do think he's got a cowboy complex, but I'm not sure about the current state of the issue. Though I would hope the gazillion of animal rights activists in the states would have gotten together and done something about this by now.

[identity profile] miaka2u.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you informed on politics at all? Democrats DO have the major in the senate they just have no reason to impeach him. Not to mention, who would they replace him with that could deal with all the stuff going on in our country anyway? When Clinton ended his term he didn't deal with the resession the U.S. was about to get into; he left it to Bush. The Challenger, 9/11, Katrina, and other national disasters.... I think he's done a pretty darn good job. People just have vendettas for either a Republican being in office or personal beliefs and situations that they have convictions for.

But, like everyone says, his term is almost over. Then we'll see how someone else can deal with the stuff in our country. I'm not saying that I agree with everything he's done in office, but I think what he's done in majority hasn't let our country fall. I try to look at the positives for each leader that has been in office during my lifetime. Try taking a walk in his shoes if you have a problem with the way the country is being run. And that's all I'll be saying on politics.

[identity profile] quoth-the-ravyn.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I Think the problem with the aerial shooting isn't that the fish and wildlife will allow for it occasionally. The problem is is that there is a loophole in the law that allows the wolves to be hunted by private persons and pilots *instead* of the fish and wildlife folks to be doing the "administrating" of population control. These hunters are allowed to keep the pelts and to sell them for profit. But its not hunting. -_- The other problem is the Alaskan state board of game has goal populations so high for moose and caribou that they can never be reached, allowing the aerial hunting to keep going indefinetly. (This information comes from Defenders of Wildlife, you can read up on it more here: http://www.defenders.org/index.php) So its not keeping population control thats the problem. ^_^

[identity profile] quoth-the-ravyn.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, I don't know about the tax write off. I do know that you are correct, it is the State that is the problem here, not the Feds. But the real concern is that other states will start using this loophole to kill wolves as well. I know that congress is considering taking the wolves off the endangered species list and if that happens, then it will be up to the states on how to handle the wolves instead of it being federally regulated. It has quite a few people concerned.

[identity profile] complexphoenix.livejournal.com 2008-02-04 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
