itasasu vampirefic - chapter 1 scene 1

I need a title for this fic. And I was sort of writing the scene I needed info for, yesterday, but I'm still not done with it -- it's too warm to concentrate on fighting choregraphy in here -- so I'mma gonna be a cheap h0r and only post the beginning. Hopefully I'll manage to complete the second scene tomorrow.

BTW in this fic Itachi became a vampire when Sasuke was 12-13, not 8. That way, I can respect the five-year difference, and have Itachi not stuck looking like a 13 year old for the rest of his unlife. XD Sasuke is in his twenties now, so they look about the same age. (hell, biologically, Sasuke is older, since Itachi died at 18. funfun. I need to write a scene about that at some point. XD)

As always, if you spot weird grammar, spellings, or plotholes, please tell me?

A law firm. Nine food courts of some sort. Half of the biggest cinema complex in town. Clothing stores. Three Laundromats. And of course, the ever-popular bars and night-clubs, where 'vampire-owned' was a selling point to the human crowd.

Itachi had known the life of Master Vampire would not be made of nothing but parties and battles. Still, he couldn't say he had spent a lot of time since his Change learning the art of bookkeeping.

But no one had ever accused him of being stupid, or of learning too slowly. And he didn't want to encourage people to lie to him. The owner of the Golden Crane restaurant was dead before he hit the ground, a bullet between the eyes.

"Kisame."

"Yes, Itachi?"

His second-in-command was standing on the other side of the room, negligently leaning all of his considerable mass on the closed door.

"Hanzaki seems to have forgotten basic arithmetic," Itachi commented quietly. "When he rises tomorrow, I want you to teach him again."

Kisame chuckled, his jagged teeth bared in a nasty smile. "My pleasure, sir."

The dozen of employees were standing close together exactly between the two of them, like a herd of deer caught between a wolf pack and a tiger. But now all eyes were on him. Slowly, Itachi looked them over. There were a couple of humans; he would have to be careful with those. But the rest were all vampires and weres, and while they were scared, none of them looked all that surprised.

"Who's the supervisor?"

A frail-looking were lifted her hand, somewhat shakily.

"You're in charge until Mr. Hanzaki makes proper amends." He didn't ask her not to disappoint him; the way she glanced at the vampire currently dead on the fancy carpet before nodding her agreement, he knew that she would do her best not to.

He would keep an eye on her performance; he wasn't sure Hanzaki would prove trustworthy enough again. Though at least it was easier to tolerate people who were merely testing him than people who were still loyal to Danzou, the previous Master. Most of them had to be killed; a waste of potential that annoyed him quite a bit.

Danzou hadn't been all that powerful, as far as master vampires went, but he'd been a politician to the bone. His power had been more in his behind-the-scenes, a-finger-in-every-pie approach than about flashy, ostentatious displays of strength and crass ruthlessness; Itachi approved. Though, obviously, displays of strength had their place too, if only so no one would feel tempted to try on him what he had tried on Danzou.

Knowing how to bluff was important too; people still thought Itachi using human weapons was an insult to his prey, and not a necessity. Itachi really, really disliked not being at the height of his power. And as much as he trusted Kisame -- he knew the other vampire wouldn't betray him as long as their interest coincided, at least -- Kisame could not guard him during the day.

The gamble was risky. It was a race to see who would be attracted by the news of Itachi's rise to Master and get to Tanzaku Gai first -- the way to fix the leak in his power, or more enemies looking to take advantage of his lack of Bonded servant.

But he could hold the city a while longer.

He closed the accounting book, gave the employees a last weighing look, the new supervisor a little nod of acknowledgement, and joined Kisame at the door. The herd splintered on all sides of the room in their haste to make place; when the door closed between Itachi and his second-in-command, none of them had dared to take their eyes off him yet.

"How many special bullets do you have left?" Kisame inquired as he fell into step with Itachi.

Itachi's eyes narrowed. He'd had to kill, for good, three vampires and a weretiger tonight, and the last one had required to be shot seven times before he stopped moving. Strangely enough -- hah -- it wasn't easy for a vampire to procure silver bullets that had been created from consecrated crucifixes, and loading a gun with them could prove tedious with extra-thick gloves. Itachi's speed was superior to most vampires', and his mind-influence powers were so far unrivaled, but these were his only advantages.

"We'll keep the clubs for tomorrow," he decided.

This, he decided, was really, really tedious. Frustrating even. Itachi had done more boring things, for longer, but that round was really. Really. Tedious. Perhaps he should skip the rest of the restaurants and the Laundromats for today and go to the clubs right away. It would end in a fight, but at least that would make things interesting again.

But he rarely gave in to his aggressive impulses. And he wasn't going to risk himself in a bar fight at his current level of power.

He really wanted to, though, and that gave him pause. He didn't want things that strongly all too often. Was someone attempting to lay a geas on him? Frowning faintly, he cast around for the spiderweb feel of a compulsion.

He didn't find anything as concrete as a spell. There was something teasing at the edge of his mind, though, fleeting enough that it took him several tries to get a good impression of it. It was something angry, hungry -- something hunting.

Hunting him. Seeking him.

It was growing louder.

"Itachi?"

Kisame was standing by the car, an eyebrow arched, visibly wondering why his boss had stopped in his tracks in the middle of the sidewalk. The tall vampire's frown deepened with each second Itachi didn't answer.

"Change of plans."

Itachi smiled. Kisame's left eyebrow shot up.

"... Yes?"

"Leave the car here. Take a taxi."

Kisame gave him a clearly dubious look. "You want to stay here alone? I know you're dangerous, but that's a bad idea."

"I won't be coming home alone. Now go. I'll call you."

Itachi ignored Kisame's mildly frustrated sigh, caught the car keys in midair and slipped them in his pocket without a second thought. The street they were standing in was too busy for his tastes, and he'd rather not put the car at risk unnecessarily, but he'd seen an empty lot behind the restaurant. Leaving Kisame behind, he found a narrow street between two buildings and made his way toward his goal.

There wasn't much light on the empty lot, and even less in the half-finished skeleton of a building bordering it. There was nothing alive there, but rats and sleepy pigeons. That suited him fine.

It was growing closer and closer, seeking, stalking. He reached out for it, letting the awareness of his position flare down the link. Smiled again, as a motor roared at the other end of the backstreet. There it was.

There he was.

The motorcycle screeched to a halt at the edge of the empty lot. It was blue and black, looked brand-new, moved like it too. Straddling it was a young man. Thick, reinforced leather pants, leather jacket, fingerless gloves. One of his hands rested on the handles, the other falling at his side behind the bike.

Itachi couldn't see his face, hidden behind the visor, but then he didn't need to. He tilted his head, feelings tendrils of rage and hate brushing against his mind. But calmer than he had expected. Colder. Not the hysterical, fearful hate of a child, but the powerful hate of an adult ready and determined to kill.

His mind had hardened. Tempered.

The mental was half of it. Now Itachi needed to see if his skills had been honed to match.

"It's been a while, little brother," he said, and smiled faintly as Sasuke leveled a crossbow at his chest.

Something about Master Vampires and bookkeeping makes me giggle.

And I approve of this writing. Especially the last bit, eeee XD

"It's been a while, little brother," he said, and smiled faintly as Sasuke leveled a crossbow at his chest.

Why is this line so hot?

Overall, EEEEEEEE the vampirething! I've loved this forever and now that it's being made into a proper fic it gets even better. <3 <3 <3

No! The thing is there is so much to say, but your AWESOMENESS shuts down my higher brain functions. *>.<*

I'm a whore for Vampires, and I'm a slut for IC (or interesting characterizations of) Sasuke and Itachi, so you know this fic is just overwhelming me with its hottness!

You give me leather and finger-less gloves and motorcycles and Master Vampires and Itachi knowing he's being stalked and - well, at least you don't expect me to be coherent. *^.^*

The mental was half of it. Now Itachi needed to see if his skills had been honed to match. "It's been a while, little brother," he said, and smiled faintly as Sasuke leveled a crossbow at his chest. <- F*CK! That's hott. *fans self*

Awe! I got a pass! *loves all over you*

PS I see you've promised orgasmic bites and cliche leather clothes, vampire councils and borderline master and servant interaction. I may just burst with joygasms all over you, love. *squee*

:DD You make vampire fics so very interesting. And this is from a person who really doesn't care much for vampire fics. [loves on your writing]

Just one note tough:
"feelings tendrils of rage"

:D feeling, maybe?

♥ HA, well. Due to my relative dislike of vampire fics, I probably won't notice at least a few of the cliche's. :D And I've always adored the way you characterized Sasuke and Itachi, so. PLUS POINTS OUTWEIGH THE CLICHE MINUSES. :D

♥ oh yeah and uh. When noting your own correction, I totally meant to say "though". [bricked for being a loser]

OKAY, I've been warned! (omg I'm really sleepy too, I just typed "worned".) But I'm still going to read it, because I have just that much faith in your writing. ♥

. . . X'D ♥ ♥ ♥

haha awesome

title title title... not knowing where you are going with it is hard, but 'blood', of course, has a double entendre meaning, what with sasuke and itachi being related, and itachi being a vampire.... so you could use that in your title... but then again, thats sort of cliche >.

[identity profile] ktoth04.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, well, you could use the french for blood >.>

whatever that is... lol

less-often used, but still kinda cheesy :D

*ponders other suggestions*

"Blood Relations" would be kinda cheesy but would also capture the essense of the fic quite well, I think.

Mmm I like this. And the image of Sasuke at the very end is ultra-sexy. <3

Itachi is hot anyway 'cause he's Itachi, but y'know.

motorcycle stuff

[identity profile] midnigh-unicorn.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Question: is Sasuke just going for the bad-ass look or is he going to be a serious biker? You've gotta explain more about that if you can, because since it's here it's totally going to affect how I read this.

Ooo, I can just see Sasuke as the kind of rider who goes through knee pucks all the time with something kick-ass like a Blackbird. *squeals*

[identity profile] midnigh-unicorn.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you want to know?

Some stuff: gloves altogether are impractical for Sasuke's occupation because they're not very flexible, and boots aren't either. Don't say thick leather because that makes them seem even bulkier and that's neither sexy nor easy to move in at all, let alone quickly. It seems like a good idea to me for Sasuke to have a back protector on under his jacket. Knee pucks hit the ground first when you're leaning really far over.

Let's see, what else...most leathers have vents, he could probably double those as places to store stakes and magazines and crossbow bolts. Helmets have a tendency to make your cheeks squish up a little, but I imagine Sasuke has a shaded viser so that won't matter, but a helmet would not be kind to his spikey hair.

I mentioned Blackbird --CBR1000XX Super Blackbird--because I'm bias. They're not the fastest bikes in the world since the Hayabusa (curse you, Suzuki!) but they're pretty damn fast, 0-60 mph in 3 seconds, 0-105 in five seconds on a straight. They're street legal but it's really hard to stick to the speed limit XD.

This site has all kinds of gear and parts if you want a better visual: http://www.kneedraggers.com but no actual bikes. You can just google those or whatever.

What else ya want?

[identity profile] midnigh-unicorn.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! It is a sexy bike! My brother thinks a Katana would suit me better, and he likes the Hayabusa but he can shove it. Super Blackbird=yum.^^

And on the gloves: I figure he can wear them when he's just riding, but take them off when he knows he's going to fight. Why would he need to protect his palms in a fight? Or was that something else? On the visor: street lights.

Kukukuku. I've been looking forward to this.

This is so creative, I love it. The concept of what it's like being a master vampire for Itachi is definitely interesting. But what really got me was the last few paragraphs of beautiful, powerful description. Great setup for whatever is going to happen next.

Ggggnnnf. Vampire!AUs/books/movies etc are so cliche but they're my one weakness if done correctly AND THE DETAILS! THE TINY INSIGNIFICANT DETAILS THAT MAKE ME CRAVE MORE! BE STILL MY BEATING HEART. I love how this has the potential to really get into the ...er, 'mind' side of vampires (don't judge me, it's 2:34am). In this AU, how different are Vamps to normal humans? I.E., the normal explination story for them, that they're turned by another vampire, or is it like a virus or a genetic thing, like, vamperism is a recessive gene (/off happily doing punnet squares for the Uchiha family) ect etc?
