(no subject)

So...

http://askerian.greatestjournal.com/

I've had it for a while but never really used it. Now, I'm not going to leave LJ, but I'm considering dual citizenship. Depends how many people immigrate here.

If you are on my LJ friendslist and plan to abandon LJ entirely, please tell me. It's no hardship to copypaste my posts. :p

Also, plz join [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts with every LJ you have so we know how many we are and how many of us are going to bitch up a storm if the current stupidity keeps coming. This community isn't going to post anything -- just join it so we can count ourselves, yeah? There's already over 20 000 journals registered there and counting.

And until something good happens, I think I'll stop posting about this issue because it's getting on my nerves to even think about it.

edit: WELL. Not too soon.

Yay for apologies. Now let's see if they put their money where their mouth is. :p

I certainly won't be deleting my livejournal (I'm paid up for a few more weeks, dammit). I'll just be casually cheating with GreatestJournal in steamy, sweaty, pedo hotel rooms while I wait to see if a divorce from LJ is really necessary.

From the looks of things so far, the apology issued by livejournal hasn't done much to clear things up about where fandom stands in relation to what is and isn't grounds for bannination. P-plus 2000 icons, dammit *__*

you know, at 5.00am this morning when I join in the communauty, we were 14000 XD

seems like a good number of people would go on greatest, I'm reassured. 'coz as they were quite a few alternatives, most of us will be on the same journal at least ^^"

thanks to you, I've now created a greatestjournal. (to bad somebody else had already taken the name Togu :@)

And ohmygosh! You can have 2000 userpics! O___O *is in heaven*

hmm... I'm also at JF, but it's mostly FW related, not that I actually write in this one anyway.

Je crois que c'est la suspension de pornish qui a vraiment mit le feu aux poudres. Ne jamais toucher au prOn du peuple, tssk, ils devraient le savoir depuis le temps. ;p

Sur fandom_counts, ils étaient 6000 hier... XD

I've had one there already for ages, and actually I poked you there a few times just because. xD
I'll not be deleting my journal because LJ's so much bigger, community and people-wise, than GJ. However, with these new developments... GJ might by growing from unhappy LJ members transferring over. *ponderyponder*

[identity profile] artimusdin.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I's staying! *grins* And if I don't, I'll likely be heading over to my insanejournal or journalfen accounts. Same name for those, for I am creative like that.

I'm signing up at GJ right now. I figured it would be good to get an alternative account, but I wanted to wait first and see where most LJers were moving too. GJ appears to be it, so yay!

I won't be on either journal exclusively. I'll probably make mirror posts so both accounts will be the same. I already do it with all of my OTHER accounts, so signing up for another journal isn't as much work as it could be otherwise.

Anyhow, I'll friend you right off once I'm signed up.

Well, I'm staying. The apology isn't perfect, but the company is a bit constrained, legally, but the TOS that they set down. We'll see what comes back. Some things I noticed from the apology:

- Mr. Berkowitz acknowledged that he shouldn't have talked to the media until he had a better idea of what the issue was
- Mr. Berkowitz all but admits that he was over his head
- Mr. Berkowitz isn't the one usually responsible for these issues, bfitz is, and he's on vacation (WfI and Perverted Justice both seem to have been in contact with bfitz and getting nowhere with him...he goes on vacation and blammo!...coincidence?).

When Mr. Berkowitz spoke to C|Net, he said he doubted more than a dozen journals would be back, but now he realizes that it will be more than that, and that a vast majority of the journals taken down would return. Also, I always found it odd that a survivors' comm would include "child rape" as an interest when the profile page states explicitly (and has for the last five years) that interests should meet the "I like x" test. But I also knew that people tend to seek comms on a keyword interest search, so putting such interests in a survivors' comm's profile increases the chance that people seeking support will find them. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask those comms to clarify on their profile pages that they are support comms, and it would go a long ways towards avoiding this sort of issue again.

The thing that bothered me about the apology is the exculpation of WfI. They're more to blame than anyone because of their crusade. They need to take their Dominionist philosophy and their efforts to turn the US into a theocracy and crawl back into their redneck holes.

Don't have a greatest... I'll see if they really do fix the mess before getting one.

I'm away from LJ for a little while and all this happens^^

Once you guys are still her i will stay. I hate having to remember new passwords and such. Besides I now started posting in my journal and getting actual replies^^

However, you should expect more of this as the blogs and other communities go mainstream. Look at what has happened to You Tube!
