Well, I'm staying. The apology isn't perfect, but the company is a bit constrained, legally, but the TOS that they set down. We'll see what comes back. Some things I noticed from the apology:

- Mr. Berkowitz acknowledged that he shouldn't have talked to the media until he had a better idea of what the issue was
- Mr. Berkowitz all but admits that he was over his head
- Mr. Berkowitz isn't the one usually responsible for these issues, bfitz is, and he's on vacation (WfI and Perverted Justice both seem to have been in contact with bfitz and getting nowhere with him...he goes on vacation and blammo!...coincidence?).

When Mr. Berkowitz spoke to C|Net, he said he doubted more than a dozen journals would be back, but now he realizes that it will be more than that, and that a vast majority of the journals taken down would return. Also, I always found it odd that a survivors' comm would include "child rape" as an interest when the profile page states explicitly (and has for the last five years) that interests should meet the "I like x" test. But I also knew that people tend to seek comms on a keyword interest search, so putting such interests in a survivors' comm's profile increases the chance that people seeking support will find them. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask those comms to clarify on their profile pages that they are support comms, and it would go a long ways towards avoiding this sort of issue again.

The thing that bothered me about the apology is the exculpation of WfI. They're more to blame than anyone because of their crusade. They need to take their Dominionist philosophy and their efforts to turn the US into a theocracy and crawl back into their redneck holes.
