And then a couple of pages about Naruto, still in the Hokage's office. nnngh too much talk in this chapter, not enough Naruto/Uchiha brothers/Sakura being hot. AND STILL NO TRANSLATION AAHHH. (yeah, I know it's barely been up a hour or less. XD *WHINES ANYWAY, BITCH*

Ohh, look, an explanation as to why they need to keep naruto for last! One I'll be able to use for Teamwork too. XD A little more convincing than a simple "the hero is always targeted last we had other stuff to do first." Still, I wonder why the hell Sir Leader didn't think about warning them that he'd need Kyuubi last or the balance would be fucked up and the statue would crumble. D:


Sakura: If we can just capture one member of Akatsuki, we can turn them over to Ibiki-san, and let him extract whatever information he can get.

... how come Juugo and Suigetsu both have a rep even the Akatsuki know about, and the girl is, once again, the a non-entity. ... nngh. After all she doesn't seem to be as much of a fighter.

Hmm, do you mean what Sasuke said in 348? I don't have the raw and the tankouban isn't out yet so I can't be sure, but according to Hisshouburaiken's Scanlations Sasuke said there were plenty of "strong" (as opposed to "stronger") fighters he could have recruited "easily", which means that he could have considered her just as strong as any of the groundbreaker fighters, or that he considered her a strong groundbreaker fighter who was not as "easy" as the rest to recruit.

It could be as simple as getting a med-nin that he could trust not to knife him in his sleep (or KO him and drag his ass back before a 'Kage), or it might be more...subtle.

I dunno, I guess I'm just not comfortable with the idea that just because Karin hasn't shown too much raw destructive power yet she's considered a "weak(er)" fighter. I don't think it's an issue of getting a med-nin he trusts, either, judging by how ready he seemed to walk away from her "Fine.. if you feel that strongly, I'll get someone else." (unless he was lying or trying to manipulate her, which I think doesn't really seem very much like what he'd do..) I do hope it's something more subtle.. I want to see what Karin does! Maybe sensei is just building up anticipation?

Itachi: Teenager who doesn't want to be associated with the others. Would rather spend time locked in his room painting his fingernails and plotting how better to make little brother miserable.

I dunno if I'd call him that.. personally he strikes me as having an "better than you and I know it" attitude, but his interaction with Kisame didn't seem to me to be very aloof.. just calm. But that's just me. ^^;;;

This comment is getting quite long but I just want to say that I agree with your assessment of the others.. and I'm starting to wonder how old Leader and the rest are, if Kakazu was old enough to have fought the first Hokage.. and what's the turnover rate in Akatsuki like, if Hidan was a relatively new replacement...

They did refer to Hidan and Kazuzu as "the zombie twins", probably due to their inability (real or preceved) to die. I think that Kazuzu was the oldest, followed by Sasiori. Itachi is probably the youngest. Tobi is the newest member, but there is widespread speculation that Tobi is Obito in the NMR forums. (I'm taking that with a very large grain of salt, however. These are the same people who confidently declare that the Leader is the the rock that fell on Obito, and argue with the ones that declare that it is Yondiame). Kisame would seem to be about middle-aged, a little older than Zazuba who seemed to be close to Kakashi's age. I think that age doesn't really play into their senority or when they joined.
Okay, I'll agree with your counter-assesment of Itachi. Looking back now, I don't agree with my own assesment.
On the one hand, out of all of them she is the most likely to be a med-nin. (I don't remember if it is stated if she is or not) What I ment to say was that she was selected for reasons other than her fighting prowess. And I don't have a problem seeing Sasuke being manipulitive if it will serve his ends.
