This is not a detailed analysis, I don't even talk about the chapter as a whole. It's an alright chapter. I just -- this line. It. it. It just...

Yamato: Your wind-element jutsu will lose against Sasuke's fire-element jutsu. The only way to beat fire is water.

Naruto: How come?
Yamato: Wind feeds a fire and makes it stronger. Water puts it out. So if you countered Sasuke's fire jutsu with a wind jutsu of the same strength, you'd only make the fire stronger.

Page 13:
Yamato: But take another look at the wind element. It may be weak against fire, but it's strong against lightning.

Yamato: Meaning that your new jutsu can overcome Sasuke's ultimate lightning jutsu... your new jutsu can beat Chidori!

Actually, I think Sasuke would accept help at this point. That is, if he's serious about letting Orochimaru possess him, if that's what it takes. (If. If if if. De Nile - not just a river.) I mean, if that isn't accepting someone else's "help"...

There's a difference between striking a bargain with someone he doesn't care about in the least, and accepting that people he had emotional ties to put themselves in harm's way for his sake -- also for his pride there's probably a big difference between "needing what needs to be done" and letting jesus!naruto swoop in and save the day. XD;;;

Not to say he won't ever accept their help -- but it would probably require another big hurdle pushing him into that corner, not to mention it would be pretty bad in terms of character development if he coldly decided to accept their help because they can be made into another tool -- and he needs to have a serious paradigm shift before he kills Itachi, or else, even if he does manage to kill him, Itachi will have won.

No argument about the paradigm shift! Killing Itachi now, as you said, would mean that Itachi would control him forever.

But what I meant was... Sasuke is good at fighting in semi-tandem with his team. Take the fight against Zabuza - no time to talk, and he still manages to read Naruto's plan and work along with it. And the fact that Sasuke is willing to let Orochimaru take over means that he is willing to accept outside help, rather than I Must Defeat My Brother Alone. So I can see him accepting the help of his old team, simply because that is better than letting Orochimaru possess him and, oh, by the way, it's a way he can go back to the people he loves while still defending his pride, but we won't talk about that bit. ^_~
