(cercle) blabla

enfin bon, j'aime bien les noms celtiques, mais si vous avez des suggestions, c'est pas obligé d'être des vrais noms non plus. Si ça pouvait être un nom se terminant en -ram ou -riam, pas trop de syllabes, ça serait génial. ;_;

-------------

I'm sort of thinking about changing the name of my mary-sue's boyfriend. Right now, it's Ashram, but i have too many characters whose name starts in "A"; Alizea, Ashram, Askerian, Ashriel, Astaroth, Asmodée, Azrael. It's probably confusing for the reader. I can't change the last three names because they're biblical names. Ashriel being Ashram's mother, her name starting in Ash- is purely because Ashram's name starts in Ash-. It's a tradition in their clan to name the male children partly after their mother. So if Ashram changes, Ashriel would automatically change with it.

On top of that, I was always slightly buggered by being so content of myself I was when I invented Ashram's name, and then learning that it already was the name of a guy in Records of Lodoss War. And in I forget which tongue, an ashram is a place for spiritual retreats (which kind of cracks me up). At least Askerian is more original, and since he's introduced a long while later, it shouldn't be as easy to mix him up with the first two.

Though for along while the only "A" names are Ash and Alizea, so is it really worth it... *ponder ponder*

Anyway, I like celtic names, but if you have suggestions, they don't need to be real preexisting names. If it could end in -ram or -riam, and not too many syllables, it would be awesome. ;_;

For the record, Ashram is a redhead, very foul mouthed, loves fighting, drinking, laughing with people, laughing AT people, good with a sword, and has fire magic and sorcery. He comes across as a rough guy, but he's a decent person underneath. Fair, and frank to the point of aggressiveness. (my god, so cliche. typical "bad guy your parents warned you about, but not so bad deep down~ blargh. XDD but if I up the bloodshed quota until it really disturbs Zea, it should be more interesting.)

...no wonder Ashram sounded so familiar 8D;; it's basically a sanctuary type thing (Sanskrit in origin). think v. Buddhist/Hindu. ahh, his personality + name meaning = much hilarity.

Bwahahaha, Anarchs ftw.

all I can think of is Kiriam, because he sounds like he should have a sharp name that isn't aggressive. V_V terribly sorry, I'm horrible with naming. I stick with unoriginal names myself, because my imagination sucks.

Ohhhh I like how you spelled with with a Y. Kyriam... sauve. anyway, hope I helped a little tiny bit ^_^u.

what about Kyuriam, or Kyuram? the 'Kyu' sound would still make it sharp, but it sounds just soft enough to not be 'omgosh keel ju!'. I'd force the name to be said faster, thus giving it more umph, more power.

anyway, just a suggestion. I can't think of anything else, because the only suitable beginnings I can think of for a character like that is K. I'd say Qu, because that would give it the same sound, but on paper it would look more feminine. I don't think he would appreciate having a womanly name at all ^_^u But maybe he would and I just don't know what the hell I'm talking about :P.

In English, I think you'd mean "Asmodeus". ^^

Fyram?

[identity profile] kilalas-place.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Um, how about Celriam?

*relurks*

[identity profile] yuenoclow.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
...Xariam? *shrugs*

I went looking in a baby name webpage. They didn't have any boys names ending in -riam, just -ram, and they didn't sound very cool. Best one was Ekram, and that's rather ehhhh... sorry.

[identity profile] sarolynne.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I did the same thing, and came to the same conclusion. Ekram... eh. I sort of like the e sound starting off, but I'm failing at coming up with alternative sounds that sound aggressive enough. Ethram, meh. Evram, ew. Elram, too soft. Eshram is one letter different.

Fail.

[identity profile] questofdreams.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
haha. All those A-names are interesting though!

Ok, well...I guess Ashram could be changed but to what, I've no idea, lol. It's a wonder I ever named my daughter haha (and in fact, my husband was the one who first brought it up, I just agreed with him XD). I suck at naming characters.

And up the bloodshed quota, haha. I guess a willingness to kill or shed blood really does push down the 'I'm a good guy in bad guy's clothing' appearance, haha. But no one can steal the killer-on-a-whim role away from Reiyel, haha. Actually, nevermind, b/c Reiyel is just so much more. >> *wants to draw Reiyel again* GRR. I have things to do!!

[identity profile] acechan.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...Priam is an archaic name with an interesting sound, though maybe not quite suited to the character. Alternatively, you could maybe go for something beginning with "T"--Toriam or something. It probably is a good idea to change it, though, since that's a lot of "A"s, and also a lot of "As"s. (Not Ass. Though that may be a fair descriptor of the character in question.)

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that Efram would be too... something. Wolfram, maybe? Now if you were looking for a name ending in -el or -iel, that'd be pretty easy.

*sucks at nameage as well*

[identity profile] narsksas.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh! Names. I like names, but my mind carries me away when I start thinking of them....

Let's see... Nuriam, Veram, Loriam, Lyriam, Lyram..... yeah, sorry. Those aren't the best, too late at night.

http://pregnancy.parenthood.com/babynames.html Watch me be helpful. None of them really struck my fancy to suggest, but you can search by ending letters, and maybe something would give you an idea.

Bon, bon, je donne mon avis même si tu en as déjà eu des dizaines et que tu as probablement déjà décidé par toi même XDXD
Bref.
