So I wanna write a mission. Because it's nice to say that they still have to stay in and around Konoha as much as possible for now, blahblahblah, but they still take missions sometimes. And so far, Teamwork has been lacking in action. There was some mrrrninja action in Teamwork 1, what with the chase and all, but after that? blah.

So it would have to happen before the SasuSaku marriage. AND the Chuunin exam. By then, I think they would be out to their friends about being a threesome... *ponderyponder*

It just so happens that I also need to move the TemaShika along. So... probably a mission to Sand.

*stares at chronology*

... I so need to have Naruto go "ahahaha Gaara has FANGIRLS" at some point. Yeah.

SO. Mission. To Suna. Do we know how far Suna is to Konoha? It's gotta be more than one day's travel, because there's another country between fire and wind, and if they were that close to each other, having wars would be much easier. Such strong military forces, in each other's backyard? bad idea.

Mission for what? I need Shika along, and I need to go to Suna... like. DUH. Escorting the Chuunin in charge of the next Chuunin exam -- JUST AS HE'S DOING IN CANON. Me ~~lazy~~ smart.

So yeah, I've got the mission... now what happens? I think everyone agrees that I need team molest0ration of some sort during the trip. ♥ XD But apart from that! Are they attacked during the trip? by who, why? Do the very sekreet documents Shika's transporting get stolen during a stay at an inn? Does Akatsuki -- no, not Akatsuki yet. Hmm.

AND THEN THEY ARRIVE AT SUNA. ...and what. I wonder if Naruto has seen Gaara at all during the last years. But I suck at writing Gaara. But he's important to Naruto. But. But. But. UARGH.

And emotional issues!! I need emotional issues. Does Sakura get angry because Sasuke and Naruto are always protecting her instead of doing their job? Does one of them get angsty because zomg the other two are necking and forgot the third? Does Shika -- ahaha, no, he wouldn't give a damn so long as it wasn't under his nose.

... maybe I should try writing it all Shika POV... urgh, no, I don't want to bother with other POVs... or do I? Which one of the three will even give a damn about ShikaTema stuff? Is this going to be a one-shot? *scoffs at self* If it's longer than that, maybe I can alternate the POVs again... hmm. argh, no, one-shot, I said. one-shot.

... or maybe two-shot. one for the trip and one for Suna...

... auuurgh brain stop... *flops*

Manga says that Suna's a three-day trip from Konoha. (So long as you aren't asking Gai or Rock Lee about that...)

Unless I've totally lost my memory, Team 7 and Temari get from Konoha to Suna in 3 days at the start of the rescue-Gaara arc, and they were pushing their speed to get there as fast as possible while still having the energy to fight when they arrived. (Gai and Lee want to try making the trip in 2 days, to Neji and Tenten's digust.)

Wait, so is their chuunin exam going to be in Suna? Because that would be awesome!

OK, people have already said that Suna is three days from Konoha BUT!--between Suna and Konoha [River Country] is the Akatsuki cave. I dunno if that's significant or anything. I assume they could take a route that doesn't go anywhere near there of course but I think it would hav e to be mentioned becuase ...you, know, Naruto...

Er. Why would it have to be mentioned at all? XD The cave exists, yes, but the Akatsuki is doing something different at the time, so they're probably not even staying there, and nothing that happened in canon post-timeskip has happened in my fic. Maybe (probably) later, but so far, nope. For Team Seven it would really be nothing but a cave. Besides the River country isn't so small that they absolutely have to go past it; I'd think that Akatsuki would choose a place away from the shortest/most convenient route between Suna and Konoha. They knew there might be some back-and-forth between these...

I want Naruto and Gaara bonding. ♥

So, you were nice enough to give me ideas...
1) Some kind of running gag with Shika and Team 7, as in they constantly getting into near-fondles and he asking they have sex in front of him when he's trying to think/plan/sleep/do nothing in particular.
2).I forget who you made a lesbian...in the Teamwork Drabbles? Totally forget, but I remember it was someone Sakura knows. Have Sakura ask Shika if he's maybe being prudish or something, to which he responds "No, this doesn't bother me. Finding out (name) was gay, THAT bothered me", to the instigation of spechul faces
3)Rather than having the scroll stolen, which is kind of cliche, I like this-the scroll that they've been transporting has been replaced with a document that will be viewed as some kind of international offence, possibly and act of war. Maybe it's booby-trapped. "Somebody" (gratuitous wink 'n' nudge) must have replaced it while the group was traveling with them, so now it falls on our delivery boys (and girl) to stop Garaa from reading it, making themselves kinda look like asses in the process (what with the sudden, unexplainable violence)
4) A hotel with two beds to a room. Angst alert when we decide who sleeps where.
5)Maybe someone learned somebody else's jutsu? Sakura does the clone thing? Sasuke tries Rasengan?
6)Some kind of reference to Garaa having sand in his vagina. No, no, too much South Park. Sorry.

How about a sandstorm suddenly appearing after their 3rd day and they have to hold up in some rocks about a day and a half journey from Suna. Since they are not experienced at desert travel and weather they are caught in the sandstorm.
They get separated into two groups let Naruto and Sakura end up together and Sasuke is stuck with Shikamaru and then after a day or so Gaara and Temari find them.
OR
All four have to share a really small overhang of rock and Shikamaru *HAS* to realise that his temp. teammates don't *mind* snuggling so close together...except maybe Sasuke.
OR for the most cuddling
Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura get stuck together because Shikamaru couldn't be bothered to climb that extra ledge to larger shelter (much time for a day of cuddles). Shika is found by Temari first a day or so later.(he gets his own cuddles)

1) and 3) While this may have humorous bits, it's still not going to be a humor-first fic. So... yeah... probably not. :p

Konoha people: "oh look, we're transporting an important scroll that many minor ninja nations would like a peek at!"
Minor ninja nation people: "Lemme think... nah, not gonna steal it, too cliche."

Besides, they know Gaara. If such an "act of war" scroll had somehow been mixed up with the real one, Naruto would be all "oops, my bad" and Gaara would be all e_e "...Shikamaru. you know what was written in the first scroll. Report."

Besides: THAT WAS THE EXACT PLOT OF ONE OF THE FILLERS AURGH OMIGOD NO NO WAY EUUUURGH. Or something. XD

2) Temari is bisexual, Ino is in the closet about any kind of bisexual tendencies that she may have. Shika doesn't know about Ino because Ino herself doesn't know, and I don't really think it would bother him all that much, except maybe in a "wahh i wanted to date her, unfair!!" way, which ... doesn't seem very Shikamaru to me.

4) dude, they're ninjas. They'll sleep on the floor and like it. XD There might be some problems like that, but I'm not going to make it too schoolfic-emo either.

5)In Teamwork:progression (the series of naruto-centric drabbles) Naruto teaches Sasuke the rasengan. Sasuke never manages the last stage, though he does manage to use a very unstable version. He never uses it; it's almost as dangerous to him as it is to his enemy, and it wastes even more pure chakra than the Chidori does. Besides he doesn't like copying Naruto.

Bah, don't worry about the plot, I have it now. The only problems I have is with the action scenes themselves. I suck at them. Thanks for the help ^__^

Heh. I just think that out everyone, Naruto would be able to unload all of his worries on Gaara, who would then give him somewhat good advice. Or at least, just listen without laughing or something.

... I can't see that, like, AT ALL. ^^; Gaara is so emotionally stunted it's painful, I really don't see him as mister cares-about-people's-romances. He'd listen without laughing because all along he would be wondering "why the hell are you telling me all that" XD

Well, that's why it would be cool. And funny. Plus, Kazekage!Gaara seems to be a bit... less psychotic than ChuuninExams!Gaara. Plus, he could always just smack Naruto with some sand and say: "Be quiet, Shukaku keeps bothering me about being asexual. Don't make him jealous of Kyuubi."
