=__________=;;;

it's amazing the kind of emails I get just because i'm french. So, yeah.

1) I assure you, if I can write fanfiction and you don't notice until you read my profile, it means that you do NOT need to dumb down your feedback for me. I'm 24, kiddy-talk sounds just a leeeetle bit patronizing here. It is also not necessary to ask me if I understand what you mean every two lines. (though it's still easier to read at a ten-year-old level than to translate OMGGRAMERWHUT and netspeak.)

2)Bilingual means that I actually UNDERSTAND BOTH. I swear it does. =__= So, no, you do not need to translate every sentence in your email. Write in either one -- I swear I didn't forget THAT much french. (yet.)

3)No, I will not help you with your homework.

4)"Is (...) really different in France?" How should I know? I've never left France once in my life, except for very short trips that skimmed Switzerland and Spain borders. As for my personal, social-and-politics-and-all-that opinions -- I'm a hermit. I don't know if other people share my views IRL. Internet doesn't count; it's easy to surround yourself with like-minded individuals.

5)On that note, I haven't written anything in french for over two years and I don't get involved in the french naruto and GW fandoms because 1) they're too small and 2)... they're too small. Also I don't know enough people there to make it worth it. *lazy, y0* So, uh -- comparison between the english and french fandoms? not a clue. XD

6)No, i'm not speshul just because i'm French. I assure you, there are lots of french people who aren't cool at all. My coolness is entirely personal. ;p

On that note, it was surprising!! (except not) that when I met [livejournal.com profile] zania and her sister, they looked like they could have been french. Except, you know, they were from Texas or something. *molestmolest* I do not look "french", there is no "french race". I look like a caucasian girl, and when you see me, that's all you can tell -- that i'm neither black nor asian nor arab nor Indin nor... you get the point. I do not look Swedish or Italian -- France is just a random melting pot of whiteness. I could walk past you in the street anywhere in the States and until I talk, I garantee you won't know. (of course the second I talk it's gonna be blindingly obvious because OMG OWW the accent. I can't get rid of that accent. People tell me a french accent is sexy, but I find it embarrassing -- especially when I know how to spell a word perfectly and I can't remember how the hell you pronounce it. And what the hell is it with that "TH" sound?? argh. ...Ah well. :p)

So. I doubt the reminder is necessary to you people, but I just felt like sharing. Because, really, WTF. It's amazing the kind of emails I get sometimes. XD

French accents are very sexy. Of course, I think just about any accents that aren't American Midwest are ridiculously attractive. And being bilingual is sexy as well. Asuka, you're just really hot.

And you complain about not knowing how to pronounce stuff in English? Pssht! What about all those extra letters that no one pronounces in French words? Not like German; those guys don't put in any letters they aren't going to say.

In conclusion, I will use the only French sentence I know (even though it's missing an accent mark over one of the "e"s): "Luc, je suis ton pere."

In second conclusion: French = hot. And people on the internet = stupid. :D

French: the only language where you can have ten syllables in a line and only pronounce four of them. :D

'gives you a bilingual high-five!'

My mother tongue is Mandarin, but god, the vastness of the English Naruto fandom > all other ones
Besides, I couldn't stand how they butchered Naruto,Sasuke,and Sakura's names. It’s just not the same. D:

*Face-palm* That would make sense, people asking you for help with their French homework 'cause your French. Well.. *thoughtful* I'm sure if it was just *help*, you wouldn't mind so much (as long as it wasn't every single person who's taking a French class at the same time), just not asking you to *do* their homework for them. 'Cause... you're in the class for a reason. Dur. *Rolls her eyes* Lazy-ass people... (can you tell I got pestered a lot in my classes 'cause I was one of the "smart people"?)

And *everyone* has an accent. *Grins* Hell, *I* have an accent. I don't *think* I do, but then I go to a state, like, say, Georgia, and get surrounded by the southern accent... x.x My God, do I feel weird then. (I'm from Virginia, in case you were wondering)

Heh. It is really WTF. I personally think you can write English much better than some of the people for whom its there first language.

*sigh* I do admit I take tiny little lessons in french when lurking around your journal cause every now and then there is a french comment and I always try to analyse it or look up words I don't know... Erm hi there!

And I do want to try and read the fanfiction you have posted in french once exams are over.

... But thats cause I'm a total dork, who thinks that studying french in a fandomy kind of way might actually be kind of fun. v.V;

... And I'm trying to become more comfortable with the language since maybe it might help me understand my french speaking relatives a bit better. And work out when they are actually talking about me. o.o;

I do know that there is a french bleach forum though that has 21971 members as a random point of trivia. o.o;

*cuddlepet*

I've always wondered what people menat when they ask "Do you look [nationality]?"

*blinks* you're French? Wow. j/k

I can sort of understand your frustration though, I'm a half-American living in the UK and people constantly question me about American politics, dude wtf? I mean, I barely understand English politics let alone American, *sigh*.

No, i'm not speshul just because i'm French. I assure you, there are lots of french people who aren't cool at all. My coolness is entirely personal. ;p

I remember learning you were French. . . a long time ago. . .I think it was when we were Pern fangirling and you said you had written a Pern ficcy and I wanted to read it. But you wrote it in French ;_; and I was sad.

I really wish I spoke more French, but what little that I can speak is all cajun french. XD. I'm such a french rebel. I didn't like you or the british! Bwah!

that i'm neither black nor asian nor arab nor Indin nor... you get the point.

i saw Indin and that just made me grin XDD altho not bilingual, i completely empathize with teh stupid questions. i can't tell you how many times i've been asked what my name really means. at that, my given name is of Russian origin and my family name is of European origin becuz the fledgling government could not understand a lick of Choctaw and went something like, "uh. Smith. right."

[identity profile] ever-in-eden.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Wee! I ADORE your rantings! They are a freaking source of inspiration! ...ermm. >.>

People out there write the same e-mail in two languages...? Are they for real?... There goes my faith in humanity. But well, the weirdos who demand you do their homework? Hmm, I think I would have written for them an essay or two. My way, of course. ^_______________^

But damn girl, I'm amazed by you. I could have never imagined you aren’t a native talker just by reading your fanfics. I've been studying English for 7, 8 years now? And still, I never feel confident about writing the damn language.

OMG, are Frenchmen really looking like, you know, people?? But surely, they do carry a distinctive characteristic, like an extra head or perhaps a tail, don't they...? ._.

And yes, spoken french are teh Sex. I used to make my half Belgian boyfriend french-talk to me. *siiiigh* Even though he could have been reciting weather reports, for all I know.

Hey don't feel too bad I'm sure that your English accent is a lot better than my French accent.

It might be better than my English accent as well (I'm from the Caribbean)

::cracks up:: I am so amused because I thought some of the same things long ago when you were in GW and I first read your fics and discovered the french-ness. Of course, my feelings faded that week, but some people... ::ish so amused::

::huggles:: Don't keel them all, ok? They can't help teh stupid.

I hate my schools...I've taken too many languages, and I'm STILL only fluent in English.

I mean, come on...Spanish, French, Latin, Hebrew, and Japanese? Can I STAB myself in the brain now?

Hee! Hermit friend. POLITICS AND NEWS ARE FOR THE WEAK. or something.

... ha, you have a french accent. I don't. Also, of course your coolness is special. just like Sasuke's

*pets teh Asuka*

I am quite sure your accent when speaking English is less irritating to listeners than the accents of most Americans when attempting to speak languages that aren't English. (True story: when I was learning German in high school, we used to watch these stupid educational videos. One of them had the American girlfriend/mistress of some rich guy, and her accent... like nails on a chalkboard. Seriously. And I used to mock my friend Cat -- who was learning French, and had spent every other summer in France since she was really little -- by reading random French words with a blatant American accent, to which she would respond by making muffled noises of ultimate suffering and valiantly trying not to strangle me. It was great fun.)

From what I can tell, most native English speakers think accents are interesting and cool, unless they're so thick that the words become unintelligible. And even then they can still sound pretty.

First off, I totally agree with you on the all capitals thing. OMGBAD! It irks me to no end -- I always have to slow down and try and decipher it.

Secondly -- the amount of feedback I receive that reads like it was written by a dyslexic twelve-year-old is...disturbing. I know a lot of it is because people don't bother to correct typos, and are using net-abbreviations, but still, how hard is it to write: I really enjoyed your story, thanks for writing, instead of: i reelly njoyed you're storie, thnx 4 writing?

WTF???

As to the TH sound -- you don't have that in the French language? Huh, learn something new every day. And as to pronounciation? I didn't learn the appropriate way to pronounce detritus -- de-try-tus, not de-tree-tus -- until I was 22. :P

[identity profile] luriko-ysabeth.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I can give you a good four years and I just learnt its correct pronunciation today. ^_^

>_> Pretty much everywhere seems like a melting pot of whiteness these days.

Just say "th" as "z". People will know what you mean, and it sounds smexy. Pretty much everything sounds smexy in French or with the accent, really.

Hé! Nous devrions blesser cet homme, et prenons son argent.

See? Didn't that sound amazingly smexy?
